'Shh, don't scream or you'll regret it. Okay?'

I nod. It was the same guy who robbed the pharmacy.

'How did you find me?'

'I've been watching you, Emma.' He smirks. He continues,

'Besides, I can't get over how beautiful you are' as he lifts his index finger strokes my cheek.

'Please don't...' Slowly closing my eyes and put my head down. Hoping this was all a dream, it wasn't.

'I wouldn't hurt you baby, don't be scared of me. You were always my favorite' as his head shifts to the side to meet my eyes.

'What do you want from me?' as I try to think of a plan.

'You're a smart girl, you can figure it out!' With a smirk spread across his face.

'Please stop' I say between my teeth. I continue,

‘If you let me go, I promise I won’t say anything...I promise. Please just let me go’

‘Now why would I want to do that? I have you right where I want you...’ he whispers as he leans closer

I slowly adjust my right leg so it's in between his legs, and then I knee him in the groin causing him to fall on his knees in pain. I start making a run for it.

'YOU BITCH! Come here!' He manages to grab my right leg as I began to run, which caused me to fall down. My knee, which was holding of my weight, slammed against the curb. As I came down, I put my hand out to shield my face, causing my wrist to twist. The pain was unbearable.

He tries to get up by grabbing my legs and I kick him in the face with my right leg, causing him to fall on his back. I quickly stand up. I could feel the sharp pain on my left knee every time I took a step but there was no time to think about that. I needed to get out of there. Fight or flight mode was in fully swing.

I ran faster than I've ever ran in my life, given the circumstances. I cross the street and walk into a 7/11, praying he didn't follow me into the store. I take out my phone from my jacket pocket as I try to call Katie but my hands were too shaky. It takes a few tries to actually call her.

'Hey girl!'

'Katie...' I whisper trying to contain myself and not start crying in front of the store, barely getting a word out. I lean against the wall in which I got a clear view of the entrance.

'Emma? What's wrong?! Honey, are you okay?!'

'Can you please pick me up at the 7/11 near work? Please hurry up...I'll explain later'

'Going to the car now, please hang on. Stay on the phone with me, okay?'

'Okay' as I start sobbing.

'Emma, please don't cry, I'll be there before you know it'

'Please hurry...' I tried to whisper but barely nothing came out.

'You still with me?'

'Yeah' I felt like I was about to collapse.

Every time the door bell rang and someone walked into the store, my heart froze.

Ding. I became paranoid.

'Emma?' Finally a familiar voice.

I start crying as she pulls me into a hug.

'Oh my god! Are you okay?! Are you hurt?'

'Just get me out of here, please.'

As I start walking, I couldn't bend my knee.

'I hurt my knee' as I drag my left foot out of the store.

'Come on, we have to get you to a hospital' as we walk over towards car. I take a deep breath.

'Please tell me what happened?' as she starts the car.

'I got out of work and was walking out to the parking lot and walked toward the end of the street and I tripped and this guy, who was walking behind me helped me up and then I realized it was the same guy from the pharmacy...'

Catching a breathe.

'Are you serious?! Oh my god honey I'm so sorry-'

'Then he pinned me against the wall and told me how beautiful I was and I don’t know what he was going to do. So I saw my shoot and hit him in the groin and before I could escape, he managed to grab my foot. I fell on my knee and wrist and then I got up and ran into 7/11.'

My whole body was shaking just replaying that memory in my head.

Katie just stood still, her mouth open.

'We have to get you to the hospital. Now.'

I didn't argue. We went to the ER at Mass General.

'So, Can you tell me what happened?' The nurse asked.

'I was walking home from work and I slipped on some ice and landed on my knee and wrist.'

She believed me. I mean, it was half true.

After being there for a couple of hours, I was told I had a sprain and a bruised wrist and got a brace. As for my knee cap, luckily it was just badly bruised. I just needed to rest it. The doctor gave me some ice packs and a pair of crutches. If I had any pain, which I did, I was told to take some Tylenol or Advil. I was given crutches to move around these next few days.

'Okay, you two can go home now. Make sure you rest that knee and ice it Emma'

Rest. Ice. Easy.

'Okay, thank you Dr. Johns.'

Katie took the car out from the parking lot and picked me up in front of the hospital.

We didn't say anything most the ride back.

'Emma, We have to go to the police' I knew this was coming

'I don't know...'

'We have to do something...He is dangerous'

'They know about him, they know what he looks like because I gave them a full description of him. They're going to catch him eventually. Ugh, I don’t know, maybe I'll go tomorrow, I'm exhausted.’

'Okay, we'll do that. I'm so sorry, no one should be allowed to go through that'

'I feel like now I'm constantly looking over my shoulder...'

'Have you texted Reilly?'

'No' I look down at my fingers.

'Emma, are you gonna tell him?'

'Not tonight, I don't know when his flight comes in, and he's exhausted. Maybe tomorrow if I see him. He’ll freak-’ as I start tearing up.

'Okay...it's up to you, let's get you home' as she rubs my arm.

'Thanks for everything, I don't know what I would do without you. Really. I’m such a mess’ As I chuckle and wipe away my tears.

'Of course! I'll always be here for you.'

We finally get home around 10:30pm. I needed a shower, bad. I take off my plastic brace off my wrist and the bandage off my leg.

'Emma, do you need help?' I hear Katie say as she leans on the bathroom door.

'I'm good for now, Thanks. I'll call you when I'm done.'

I look down at my knee, and see that it was twice the size it usually is. It was swollen, mostly red because of the ice that was on it. In addition it had started bruising. Great.

I don't bother washing my hair that night. I just had taken a shower the night before. I just wash my body with my right hand. It was challenging.

'Katie' I yell as I put the towel on.

'Okay, come here.' She grabs my hand and helps me to my room.

'Thank you'

She had laid out clothes for me on the bed.

I put on my undies and bra on and then sweat pants and a sweatshirt and lay on my bed.

'Do you want some hot chocolate?'

'I would love that. Thank you!’ I smile.

'Coming right up!' She smiles and walks out.

I decided to text Reilly goodnight.

Hope you have a safe flight!

I'll see you tomorrow.

I didn't want him to worry, by tomorrow everything would be calm and I'd tell him then.

It's around 11:30 pm and I hear knocking on the front door. I was still wide awake, kept tossing and turning. I couldn’t find a comfortable position. Who could that be at this hour?

I hear two voices but can't really detect them. After a few moments, I realized it was Adam and Reilly.

A few seconds later, I hear someone knock on my door.

'Emma' I hear his sweet whisper.

Reilly!

I turn around and slowly sit on the bed.

'Reilly?! What are you doing here?'

I was so happy to see him.

'I missed you too babe!’ as he walks over and sits on the bed. He grabs my face, gives me a kiss, and pulls me into a big hug.

‘Hey, are you okay? Why are you shaking?' He pulls out of the hug and looks at me, trying to figure me out. His hands slide down from my shoulders, down to my elbows and grabs my hands. He notices the brace in my hand. He looked so confused.

'Emma, What is this?' As he rolls the sleeve of my sweatshirt and reveals the brace.

'It's a long story, I slipped and hurt my wrist and knee. It's not that big of a deal.'

He looks at me like I'm crazy. He rolls my sweatpants and sees my knee.

'What happened?!'

'I told you I slipped...' That didn't sound too convincing.

He slowly touches the bandage on my knee and my whole body jumped.

'Not a big deal huh?'

I shook my head and looked out of the window as tears start forming.

'Hey you can tell me' as he grabs my chin and slowly turns it so our eyes meet.

'Did Katie tell you to come over?'

'No, Adam and I came over and decided to surprise you guys.'

He continues,

'Emma, what are you keeping from me? Talk to me please. No secrets remember?'

I take a deep breathe and prayed he doesn't freak out.

'I got called into work today and worked until 8. I decided to walk home rather than take the T and I slipped on some ice. There was a man behind me who came over and helped me out. I thanked him and was on my way until he pins me into the side of the building and-

'Wait what?! Did you get a clear view who it was?!' He cut me off, his anger seen throughout his body. He could not sit still, eyes glued on mine, begging for answers.

'It was dark and when he pinned me against the wall, it was then when I noticed it was the same guy that robbed the pharmacy...'

My eyes are already filled with tears. All I can do is play with my fingers on my lap, avoiding eye contact. He grabs my hands.

'I managed to get away by kneeing him in the groin and when I tried running away, he grabbed my leg and that's when I fell on my knee and wrist. I kicked him in the face and got up and ran to 7/11 and Katie picked me up. Then we went to the ER...’

Reilly just stares at me, insure of what he just heard. He slowly gets up from my bed.

'ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!' knocking over the water bottle that stood on top of my mini dresser. The bottle slams off the wall.

'Reilly, calm down. Please!' Trying to calm him down, it wasn't working.

Damn it, I should have waited. This was exactly what I feared.

'Why didn't you call me?!' he started panting as he walked around the room.

'Why?! You were coming home from being away for a WEEK, I didn't want you to freak out and cause a scene. Like this...' as I opened my arms, showing him this is what I feared would happen. I drag my leg and sit on the edge of the bed.

‘Besides, it just happened a few hours ago, its not like I kept this from you for a few days!’ I was getting so frustrated.

His eyes still filled with anger. He exhaled deeply.

'I'm sorry. But we have to go to the police!' As he started to calm down a little bit.

'They already know about him Reilly, what else are they going to do? Please let's just forget it...' Wanting to forget this whole goddamn thing.

'Forget it?! You can't be serious?'

'What choice do I have Reilly?! They aren’t going to do anything. Ugh! I don’t know. I just don’t know.' I put my face in my hands.

'Come here' as he gets on his knees near the edge of so we are on the same level. He takes my hands from my face and kisses them, before pulling me into a hug.

'I'm so sorry babe, you don't deserve this. If I ever find his piece of shit, I swear to God I'll kill him with my own hands.' I could feel how tense his body felt after that statement.

'Not if I get to him first' tried to lighten the mood. He laughed.

'You are amazing, you know that? My little brawler!' he laughs

That made me chuckle.

'I’ll go to the police station tomorrow, okay?'

'Thank you' he says.

'Okay, we should go out there with Katie and Adam. I might need a drink.’ I stand up.

'Woah, come here. Where do you think you're going?'

'...the couch'

He shakes his head as offers me his hands.

‘Hold on’ I turn off the light that was near my bed. As I go to grab the crutches, he grabs my hand.

'Wait' he says.

I turn and face him.

He tightens his grip around my waist. I put my arms behind his neck. As he starts kissing me, he lifts me and gently puts me on the bed. He deepened the kiss when his tongue entered my mouth. His scent, touch, taste, everything about him made me realize how much I had missed him.

He moves down from my lips to my jaw line down to the base of my neck. A moan escapes from my lips. I grab his face and he stops. I slowly lift his face up so he was facing me and I kiss him with all that was left in me. God I had missed him. We just look at each other for a few minutes in the darkness. None of us saying anything. The moonlight highlighting half of his face. His dark eyes looked straight into my soul. You could tell he was still upset, and angry but mostly hurt and worried.

'I'll be okay, I promise. Please don't worry about me.' I whispered as I stroked his cheek with my thumb. He nodded as I moved my forehead to meet his. He slowly put his lips on my forehead. He held the kiss for a few seconds. I bury my head in his chest. Never wanting to let go.

‘I love you Reilly’

‘Love you more’

He gets up and helps me stand.

'Can you please grab my crutches over there?'

'You don't need those' as he lifts me, honeymoon style.

‘You okay?’ he said as he has me in his arms.

‘I’m amazing! Just don’t slam my foot into any doors please’ I laugh.

‘Really?’ The look on his face was priceless. I couldn’t stop laughing.

‘How about I just drop you off here and you can crawl to the living room.’

‘You wouldn’t!’ as soon as I said that he pretended to drop me. My heart stopped.

‘That was not funny’ I was out of breath as I rested my head on his shoulder. He kisses my forehead as he laughed.

‘Alright, let’s go!’

'Thanks again love!’ I say.

‘Love huh? I like that’ I kiss him on the cheek as we head to the living room.
