The Road Back to Your Heart

Finally Home

The Hurricanes had their parade the next day and Gabi was there along with her whole family. After the celebrations, it was time to head back to Thunder Bay and Gabi couldn't wait. In a few short days, she would head to Vancouver with the Staals for Jordan's draft but she'd get a few days home before that. Gabi had missed Thunder Bay. It was her home. Sure it had memories that were painful but every place had that. Thunder Bay would always be here favorite place to be, no matter what happened there. She packed up her car with a smile just thinking about spending time out on the lake with her family, going to the Sod Farm and helping out. Everything that made Gabi were in Thunder Bay. Sure she loved her summers in New Haven but New Haven was no Thunder Bay. It wasn't the small town where you know everyone and everyone knows you, which had it's down falls. Especially since everyone knew what went down between her and Eric. She hadn't had the chance to sit down and talk with him yet but that was to be expected. Eric was busy having the time of his life, celebrating the win. He deserved it, the whole team did. They had worked so hard to get where they are and they deserved to let loose a little.

"Gabs?" Jordan asked snapping her out of her thoughts. "Ready to head out?" Jordan was riding back with her. She had wanted to talk to him about somethings.

Gabi nodded, "Yea, I'm ready to go."

Jordan got into the passenger's seat of the car and Gabi turned the car on. It was time to go home.

"So have you tried to tell Whit before?" Gabi asked drumming her fingers on the steering wheel.

Jordan shook his head, "No. Well wait that's not true. I tried once but she thought it was a joke. It didn't help that Heather was laughing."

"Yea, well you know how Whit feels about Heather," She responded rolling her eyes. "Not that I blame her."

Jordan sighed, "I know but Heather was fun to be with at the time. Then I saw her true colors and when I did it was too late. She had already help push Whit even farther out of my life. I hated myself for letting Heather do that. There was a time where Whit could at least stand my sight and now its like I don't exist to her."

"You dated the one person who made her life hell," Gabi said with a sigh. "Then not only did you do that, you joined in on some of the jokes. You made her feel that all the time that you two spent together as children didn't matter. That she didn't matter to you. When everyone but her knew that it was exact opposite of the truth. Jordy, I love you, I do but you are an idiot."

He ran his fingers through his blonde locks, "I know. I know."

"The only thing, I can suggest is that you try and show Whit that the last two or so years that you were with Heather were a fluke. That you aren't the asshole who made her life miserable," Gabi told him as she changed lanes to get to her exit.

Jordan nodded, "And how I am supposed to do that if she won't talk to me?"

"You know her better than most people do," Gabi started. "The two of you use to spend hours talking and playing together. You just have to think about what she likes, and what would get her attention. I can't tell you what to do because in order to show her that you care, you have to choose something from the heart. Something that would blow her mind that you remembered. It might not work at first because of all the hurt you caused but give it time and you'll see that it worked."

Jordan nodded and the rest of the ride was silent. Gabi could tell Jordan was thinking about anything and everything that he could do to get Whit's attention and Gabi was thinking about what waited for her in Thunder Bay. The talk with Eric that needed to happen. She didn't know what to expect but she had hoped it wouldn't be too bad. It scared her not knowing but soon enough she would. She smiled as the passed into Canada. It had been a while but she was finally home and a few hours later, she was actually home. Thunder Bay was quite as everyone else was sleeping as she pulled up to the house she grew up in, right next door to the Staals. As she turned off the car and got out, a peace came over her, she was finally home.
