Make or Break

Chapter 2

"So then I told him I would just take the orchids, I mean they couldn't be that bad right?"

I knew it. "No I'm sure they'll look good" I said into the phone as I felt around for my keys in my pocket, laying my hand on them I pulled them out trying to silence the slight ringing the keys made hitting each other.

"Well they need to" Catherine sighed from the other side of the phone as I pushed the key into the lock on my apartment door. "You're going to the fitting tonight right?" She asked making me stop in my tracks, the key just sitting in the lock.

"What fitting?" I asked surprised. "The one for the bridesmaids and groomsmen," She said slowly as I placed my hand back onto the key turning it slowly till I heard the faint click signaling the door was unlocked. "I did tell you about that didn't I?"

"No" I sighed walking through the front hallway of my apartment gently throwing my keys into the dish sitting on the table.

"Well, theres a fitting for the bridesmaids and groomsmen tonight that you absolutely have to go to." She said quickly. I could just tell by her light tone of voice that she was smiling, as she always is. I heard a squeal coming from Alex in the background, making me assume they were in the car.
"Yeah A! Its Aunt Presie! Say hi!" I heard Catherine say in what we all called her "mom voice".

When Catherine talked she had a normal voice, a pretty one even. Deep but not too deep. High but not too High. The perfect Inbetween. But when she was talking to Alex, her voice got high pitched just like everyones does when talking to a young child, or even a dog.

"He's waving" She laughed suddenly."I swear he is the cutest thing ever" She squealed along with him, putting emphasis on the. I laughed along with her, taking off my heels after a long day, which by the sounds of it, was not over yet. "So are you going?" She asked as I sighed throwing my body lazily onto the couch, relaxing all my muscles, closing my eyes for just a few seconds. "Presley?" She asked resulting in me humming slightly and throwing my feet up onto my coffee table, not even caring if I got it dirty. "Are you going tonight?" She asked again. "Probably" I hummed dragging the orange and pink paisley pillow towards me from the other side of the small couch. "Probably?" She asked sounding worried. "Yes," I whined, "I'll be there" Finally opening my eyes I looked up to the clean white ceiling wondering what would happen in the night to come. What kind of hideous dresses would she have me try on?

"Yay!" She exclaimed happily causing me to smile at her happy as usual antics, 'Thank you so much!" "Mhmm" I mumbled getting up and running my hand along the blue cushion making sure I didn't leave any dirt behind and throwing the pillow back to where it belongs. "Then I'll see you tonight!" She said as I walked over to my kitchen, starving after only picking at a salad for lunch. "What time?" I mumbled, exhausted. "6" She said simply.

I glanced over at the clock to see that it was already 5 meaning that I should have just enough time to eat, change, and fix my make up before leaving. It would be tight with the timing but I'd have to deal with it. Typical Catherine to tell me about the fitting an hour before it happens.

"Youre Here!" Catherine smiled running over to hug me as soon as I walked through the door of the bridal shop. "I told you I would be" I laughed as she rocked me back and forth in a hug, still smaller than my 5'9 figure in her 3 inch heels.

"Presley, Presley, Presley" Kris hummed softly in his French accent, walking towards me, holding Alex with just his left hand as though he were holding a doll. "Kris" I smiled as Catherine finally let go of me, now just standing beside me as Alex lifted his head off his dad's shoulder to see me standing there resulting in a smile forming upon his chubby little cheeks, "Alex" I said smiling even more at how adorable he was with his bright blue eyes, just like Catherine's but dark brown hair resembling Kris's.

Alex giggled and clapped his hands as most children do before leaning forward and reaching his arms out to Catherine, who tickled his stomach, both of them smiling and laughing. She took him into her hands before Kris whispered something into her ear and she nodded before he walked over to a group of young, largely built guys.

"No, no, no, no, no" I said turning to face Catherine after seeing the group of guys which were obviously some of Kris's teammates. "What?" Catherine smiled at me as If she had no idea what I was talking about, even though she knew exactly what I was talking about. "Absolutely not" I said leaning my weight onto my right foot and putting my hand on my hip. "You have to" She pouted. "I do not" I said curtly, "Let's just do this quickly," I sighed giving into not only her sad pout, but also Alex's cute smile. "Youre the best" She smiled putting Alex down who ran screaming to his father and the group of guys surrounding him.
I looked at my reflection. My long brown hair falling easily over the sky blue fabric of the dress Catherine picked. The way the flowers laid perfectly on my hip. It framed my figure perfectly.

"Looks nice" I heard an unfamiliar voice say. "Thanks" I said more rudely than i intended it to. "What are you, Maid of Honor?" The tall guy with the dark brown curls and bright blue eyes asked. "Just a regular Bridesmaid" I said running my hands down the clean blue pleats in the dress before looking back up to meet his eyes in the reflection of the mirror. "You're not Catherine's sister?" He asked a confused look crossing his charming face. "No," I laughed just turning to face him, getting to see more intimate details that the mirror didn't show like the slight stubble on his jawline, or the green flecks in his otherwise blue eyes, even the way his shoulders slumped forwards slightly whether it be how he stood, or just how he was leaning forward, putting his hands in his pockets. "But we've been best friends forever" I smiled pulling one of my long brown waves away from my face, behind my ear.

"Has she always been this..." He dazed off looking up at the ceiling as if looking for the right word to say, "Crazy?" I finished for him. As soon as I said he looked down at me laughing a strong, deep laugh looking into my eyes. "I wouldn't exactly use that word but yes, crazy" He smiled pulling one hand out of his pocket to run it through his hair, messing it up slightly although it looked better than his before gelled up hair. "No," I smiled at the handsome man infront of me, "Its just the bridezilla in her" "Bridezilla?" He laughed again, just not as loudly this time, more of a chuckle shifting his weight from one foot to the other, "Like Godzilla?" "But for weddings" I smiled at him. "Did you come up with that?" He asked taking a step towards me. "You've really never heard that before?" i laughed at him this time. "No" He smiled just as Catherine came into the room.

"Oh my god!" She exclaimed making her way towards me, shoving him out of the way. "You look amazing!" She grabbed both my hands and held them in hers backing up slowly to see the whole dress and how it laid across my tall figure. "She does doesn't she" The same guy said staring at my dress as if daydreaming. Catherine and I both turned to him, A look of shock on her face as if she didn't even notice him when she walked in. "James?" She asked seeming to snap him out of his thoughts with a shake of his head and him standing up straight, sighing. "Hm?" He hummed looking in her eyes for the first time since they started talking. I slowly moved my head between the two of them as the seemed to have a conversation with just head nods and eye contact. "What are you doing in here?" She asked him dropping my hands. "Kris told me my suit was in here" He said simply shrugging his shoulders like a 10 year old boy. "And you listened to him?" She said getting angry, her bridezilla side coming out. "Well" He paused looking down at his feet scratching the back of his neck, "Yes?" He said questioning himself as if he didn't know whether or not that was the right answer. "Alright" Was all Catherine said shocking both of us.

"Well Pres, I think this is the one" she sighed turning her head from him to me, flipping a blonde curl over her shoulder in the process. "Do you like it?" She asked me nervously biting her lip. "I love it" I said grabbing her hands for emphasis on love. "Good! Great!" She smiled running out of the room before poking her head back in to tell James that his she would go find his suit.

"So," He smiled walking over to sit on one of the 3 couches in the room as I looked back at my reflection, "Pres?" He asked smiling crookedly, making himself comfortable on the couch. I could just tell he was one of those cocky athletes who's just concieted and thinks he can get any girl he wants. I tried my best not to pull any faces as to show that I already disliked him since we had to spend the next few weeks before the wedding together along with many other people in the bridal party. "Presley" I said still eyeing his reflection in the mirror.

"Presley"

He smiled stretching his arms out and leaning back even more into the couch, if that was even possible. Arms stretched out, feet on the small glass coffee table covered in magazines, he was the epitome of cocky hockey player. Looking like he owned everything and anything around him.

"Presley" He said again smiling even bigger this time as I turned to face him.
He smiled before saying it one last time, softly as if letting it sink into his head,

"Presley"
