Still There For Me

Well the news broke of our engagement and the press have been crazy around Sid and I. And of course for the past week they've been on the road and I've been home alone with the kids. Kylie is used to it by now but you can tell Ty misses Sidney. He hears his voice on the TV and he just turns trying to find him. It's so cute and warms my heart.

We can't leave my house for very long either because the press starts to gather and ask questions about Sid and I. I just kept my mouth shut and kept going about my day. Kylie asks me questions about them but she's too young to get it. Sidney on the other hand gets hounded for a million and one different things and this is just another thing that he has to listen to. I can tell it frustrates him having to talk about things that are un hockey related but that comes with the job unfortunately.

Tonight we have his team house party that will be just for the players and their wives or girlfriends. Because of everything that has happened, we decided that we would host it. I'm not very nervous about it, but at the same time, I have to be. I want to leave a good impression on everyone. Because the kids are so young we have recruited the Lemieux kids to come over and watch them while the party goes on. Plus, I know Sid misses them, so they can hang out before.

"Ashley!"

"Yeah?" I asked, putting out some booze on our counter.

"Mario and Nathalie are offering to watch the kids over night so that we can relax and focus on the bonding process. Is that cool if we drop them off?"

"Are you sure?"

"Nathalie is on the phone."

I held out my hand asking for the phone, which he handed over. "Thank you. Bonjour Madame Lemieux."

"Hey Ash, how's it going?"

"It's okay, you?"

"It's going good here. Do you seriously want us to take the kids for the night? We really don't mind it. We know how busy these nights can be, and we want you guys to enjoy it. We really want you to know we are here for you guys."

"Well thank you! Are you really sure?"

"Yes. Just enjoy it."

"Okay, well thank you! I seriously owe you one."

"Uh, Sid has watched our kids tons of times, you don't need to worry about that. Can someone bring them over with the carseats incase we need them? We'll just give Sid one of our cars in return."

"You guys are too amazing, do you know that?"

"Yeah, yeah, we hear it all the time. Have someone call when you are on your way."

"Thank you Nathalie!"

"No problem. See one of you soon."

I hung up the phone and shook my head. "You really need to do some explaining to do. Why did they offer?"

"They did it to be nice! You should know them better than that. Just enjoy what we're going to do tonight, it'll be stress free, I promise. Then tomorrow I will go to practice and then the day after that I will have a home game, and then I'm on the road," he nuzzled his nose on mine.

"I don't like the sounds of that," I sighed. "I just want you home always."

"I know you do baby girl. I'll be back in 3 days after I leave."

"Don't remind me," I whined. "Can you please go get the kids from their naps and bring them over to the Lemieux's while I finish starting to make the appetizers and putting some in the oven to cook?" He nodded and went on his way. We had people coming over in just over an hour and he's still slugging around. Men.

"Say goodbye to mommy," he cooed, carrying his two half asleep children. They just looked at me with tired eyes.

"Bye my babies," I kissed them, and got their winter coats on. Sidney buckled them in their car seats, and I brought out their bags and the playpen. I kissed Sidney and went back inside to get myself ready.

**During the Party**
The party is going good, everyone is having a blast and we have been hounded with questions about our engagement. The boys have been in the mancave in the basement while the girls have been upstairs drinking wine and gossiping. This year we have become really close now that we don't have any bitches with us. Obviously personalities are different, but that's totally normal and works well for us.

"Show us your rock you prude!" Vero yelled, holding her growing belly. I just blushed and held my hand out, showing the ring Sidney got me. It was followed by a ton of cheers and compliments. Then came the question about wedding planning.

"Well, we are going to try our best to get married this summer, or thenext. We haven't really gotten to discuss much considering how chaotic it has been since we got engaged. We don't have much planned yet, but the time will come, things just need to calm down for now."

"I don't know how you aren't already planning everything. I would kill someone if that was me!" Maureen laughed.

"That's just Sidney though. Too busy," Evegni's girlfriend Natalia replied.

"You don't have to tell me twice." That comment sort of hurt me a little bit. I know it wasn't meant to be taken so seriously but I can't help it. It still hurts me. I know Sid is a busy guy but I hate hearing people remind me of it. I spent my night trying not to remember it, but oh well.

By the end of the night it was just us and the Fleury's. They helped us clean up and relax. I could tell there was some business talk that was unwanted, or some sort of personal talk between the boys because the two men seemed off about how the night went.

"Do you see what I'm seeing?" Vero asked me.

"Oh yeah. Ask about it tonight and try and see if you can get anything out of him."

"You too. Thanks for having us," she hugged me.

When they walked out Sidney looked at me, I could tell he was tipsy. "What was that honey?" I asked.

"Nothing at all. Can we go have sex?" I rolled my eyes. He drives me crazy sometimes when he's so blunt.

"I won't refuse that," I smirked. I know he'll blab after this. Sex is the way to a man's honesty... Sometimes.
