I arrived at the rink an hour before practice. I knew most of the team would be here already so I went straight upstairs trying to avoid James at any cost. I luckily wasn’t scheduled to cover practice today since I had enough work with the away game in two days and the start of the season in five days. I knew I could avoid James today by staying in my office with the door locked and keeping. I brought my lunch with me, as well as my morning coffee. I planned ahead. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to speak to James. I just didn’t want to do it here. This is our place of work and I’m still very new here. I don’t need anyone to have a reason to dislike me this early. I needed friends not enemies. I get to my office door and unlock it. Before I can get in the door I hear a male voice down the hall. I freeze.
“Alex.” Brandon says. I let out a sigh of relief when I turn and see who it is.
“Hey.” I say.
“Can we talk?” He asks. I look around.
“Not out here.” I say as I push my office door open and pull him inside. I close the door behind us and lock it. When I turn back to Brandon he looks really confused. “I don’t really have much time for interruptions today.”
“Do you want me to come back?” He asks.
“No, its fine.” I say.
“You don’t want to see James?” He asks.
“Why would you say that?” I ask raising my eyebrow. He hesitates and rubs the back of his neck. “Just tell me.”
“Word around the locker room is he got someone pregnant.” Brandon says looking down at the floor. I sigh and look up at the ceiling.
“Wonderful.” I say.
“I didn’t want to be the one to tell you, but I thought I should before someone else did.” He says.
“I already knew.” I say.
“So its true?” He asks.
“Not exactly.” I say.
“What does that mean?” He asks.
“I haven’t talked to him yet.” I say.
“Oh.” He says. I cock my head to the side and stare at Brandon.
“Wait, how do you know?” I ask.
“One of the guys over heard him on the phone at the airport.” Brandon says.
“This is just in our locker room right?” I ask.
“Yeah, the guys would never spread it.” Brandon says. “They know how it is.”
“I guess I need to talk to him today.” I say.
“Don’t stress about it.” He says moving closer to me. I can tell he wants to hug me, but he’s nervous to make the first move. I close the gap between us and he wraps his arms around me. I rest my head against him. We stay like that for a couple minutes. Finally he pulls away.
“Thank you.” I say.
“For what?” He asks.
“Being a good friend.” I say. “We may not spend much time together outside the rink, but you’ve been there for me when I needed you the most and that’s important to me.”
“Anything for you.” He says. Our eyes lock and I can see a little sparkle in his eyes. It makes me smile.
“Maybe we could get together later and have dinner?” I ask.
“Sure.” Brandon says. “I should get back downstairs.”
“Yeah, I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble because of me.” I say. He laughs.
“I wouldn’t tell.” He says winking at me. This time I laugh. “I’ll see you later.”
“See you.” I say. He opens the door and leaves my office. I lock the door behind him. I sit back down at my desk and get back to work. I manage to avoid James by the rest of the day. I’ve been working all day and I got almost all of my work done when my phone started ringing. I look at the screen and I see a picture of James and I. I take a deep breath before finally picking it up before its last ring.
“Hello.” I say.
“Hey beautiful.” He says. I smile.
“What’s up?” I ask.
“I miss you.” James says. “Can you come over tonight when you finish work?”
I don’t answer for a couple minutes. I guess I should deal with this now. I shouldn’t put it off for any longer.
“Alex?” He asks. “Are you still there?”
“Yeah, I’m here.” I say. “Sure I’ll come over.”
“What time do you finish?” He asks. I look at the clock.
“Another hour and a half.” I say.
“Awesome.” He says. “See you soon.”
“See you.” I say before I hang up. I get back to my work.
Once my workday is over I pack up my laptop and shut down my desktop. I finish packing up all the work I need to take home with me and leave my office. Once I get to the car I call Lilly and tell her I will be home late tonight. She tells me not to worry she will take care of everything. I don’t know how we found her, but she’s the best nanny we could ever have found. She’s willing to spend as much time during the day as I need her too and she was willing to relocate with me. I couldn’t ask for anyone better. Before I can get out of my parking spot Sid walks up to my car. I roll down my window.
“Hey Alex.” He says.
“Hey Sid.” I say.
“Are you busy tonight?” He asks.
“Yeah, I have to go over to James’” I say sighing.
“Oh.” He says. We both don’t say anything for a while. “I’m sure it will all work out.”
“I just don’t want to have an argument.” I say.
“It will be fine.” He says. “Call me when you’re done at his place.”
“Okay thanks.” I say.
“See you.” He says.
“Bye.” I say. I pull out of my parking spot and roll my window back up. I turn the radio on and blast some music to try and clear my head before I get to James’. It’s only a twenty-minute drive so I need to keep myself calm while I drive there. I’m sure everything will work out the way it’s supposed to, but I like him a lot and I really don’t want to break up with him, even though I feel like that might be the end result of this conversation. I try to think positively and keep a clear mind.

I'M SO SORRY I HAVEN'T UPDATED IN 2 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!
I got a new job in January and I haven't had time to update!!! I've been so tired and working so much I havent had time to write!!!!!

BUT i'm going to Pittsburgh on Thursday so I'll be updating a lot hopefully this weeekend!!!
