Redemption of Puck Slut: Part I

Dear Diary,
Pens beat the Blue Jackets twice in a row!
(Which means Sid and I got to have sex, which is cool)
He and I have started watching Game of Thrones together. It’s kind of addictive.
-
On Friday’s game (the first one with Columbus) I talked Caeleigh into coming up to the box to see Marie. I figured Caels was better at this sort of thing and could maybe ask her about her open relationship without being obvious (like I would).
“Yeah, and I don’t really know Brandon that well, but he seems nice,” Caeleigh said after talking with Marie about clothes for a while. “How do you guys deal with being apart for so long? I get sad just thinking about Geno going back to Russia, even if it’s just for a few days.”
“Yeah, same here,” I said trying to participate, “except about Sid, going to Canada.”
(not true at all, I actually never thought about that)
“It was hard at first, but we’ve been together long enough that we’ve gotten used to it,” She said, as Caeleigh and I waited anticipating her response.
I looked at Caels and she knew to try to dig a little further, “But like, you’re apart for so long,” Caeleigh paused, “That’s a long time to be without a guy, like, physically.”
Marie started laughing, “Brandon and I have never really been that physical anyway, I don’t know why, but we just connect on a different level than that.”
“My ex boyfriend and I were starting to be like that, that’s actually kind of why I broke up with him,” I replied, then realized my comment had not helped the conversation at all.
Caeleigh stared at me and then added, “that’s great Emme, actually we have to get going, I think the game is starting soon.”
“What the hell was that,” Caeleigh asked as we left. “Why’d you bring up your ex-boyfriend?”
“I’m sorry, I just panicked,” I replied, “Also, did you see her ring?”
“What? No!” She hit me.
“Ow, why’d you hit me?” I replied rubbing my arm.
“What finger was it on?” She asked, not carry that there were other people in the elevator.
“Left ring finger,” I replied, suddenly feeling very sad. I’m not sure why, but I couldn’t feel happy for him. “It definitely wasn’t there the last time I saw her.”
The elevator door opened and she pushed me out and pulled me toward the guy’s locker room.
“We have to find him,” She said pulling me.
“No, not right now, this isn’t a good idea,” I continued to protest as she dragged me along. She opened the door and pushed me in.
“Brandon,” she yelled before I could get my hand over her mouth. I continued to fight with her until we were both on the floor rolling around. Caeleigh continued to try to ask Brandon about Marie but she couldn’t get more than a few syllables out at a time.
“Girl fight,” Beau (I think) said.
“Girls break it up,” Coach Dan said walking over to us. Geno helped Caeleigh up and Sid helped me up, but I broke from his grasp and clasped my hand over Caeleigh’s mouth before she could say anything.
“No, bad Caeleigh,” I said and tried to drag her out of the room, but Geno held onto her.
“What’s wrong?” He asked.
“Nothing, I just need to talk to Caels, but not here,” I said looking around, realizing everyone was staring at us (including Brandon who looked very confused.)
“Emme take your hand off of her mouth,” Sid said pulling me away.
I looked at Caeleigh sternly, hoping she would figure out why I didn’t want her to say anything in front of everyone.
But she didn’t. “Brandon did you get eng-”
Before she could finish I did something I’ve never done before.
I punched her in the face.
I felt really bad about it, but I couldn’t have her asking him about Marie in front of everyone. I kind of got the feeling that something bad had happened between the two and I didn’t want to expose it in front of his whole team.
It turns out I was right. Well, we both were kind of right.
They brought us into the medical room to get ice. Caeleigh was crying too hard to say anything more about it, so I didn’t worry about her talking.
“What the hell was that all about?” Sid asked as I got my hand checked, “That was a pretty good punch, I feel bad for Caeleigh.”
“She was going to say something and I didn’t want her to.” I replied, wincing as they put more ice on my hand.
“What was it about?” He asked looking concerned.
“Can I talk to Brandon?” I asked, not wanting to get into too many details with Sid.
“Um, yeah I’ll go get him.”
They finished with my hand (not broken, btw) and left before Brandon came in.
“What is going on?” He asked.
“I’m so sorry about Caeleigh, we were talking to Marie and after we left I asked Caels if she’d seen her ring. But she hadn’t seen it and freaked out and needed to ask you if you guys were engaged.” I paused, trying to figure out what to say next. “I sort of had a feeling that something was wrong, especially when I saw your face when Caeleigh started to ask you if you guys had gotten engaged.”
“Oh my God,” he said sitting down next to me, “Yeah, that would have been embarrassing for me. We’re not engaged. But she is.”
“What?” I turned to face him, “You mean she’s engaged to another guy?”
“Yeah. That guy I told you she’d been sleeping with was actually her boyfriend and they had been together since I first went to Carolina like five years ago.” He explained, not looking as upset as I thought he would be in that situation.
“So you and she aren’t together anymore?” I asked carefully.
“What?” He looked at me, “no, of course not. And she’s going back to Canada tonight. I didn’t think she’d even come to the game.”
Sadly, and I regret this, one of my first thoughts after realizing Brandon was single (and I feel guilty just thinking about thinking about it) was that it was too bad Sid and I were dating.
I don’t want to think about it because then I will start wondering what it would have been like if I’d said no to Sid.
And I don’t want to get into that.
“I can’t believe I actually punched Caeleigh, she’s going to be so mad at me,” I said and leaned against his arm.
“That was a pretty good punch, remind me to never get you mad,” he said laughing.
“That actually felt really good hitting her,” I replied, “Not her specifically, just actually hitting someone in the face.”
Brandon looked down at me, “Wow, that was unexpected. Please don’t punch any more people.”
“Yeah, my hand really hurts. I did it for you though,” I said laughing, “Totally worth it (not)”
“I have to go, we have a game to play,” he said getting up. “But thanks. I really didn’t want to have to talk about all of that in front of the entire team. I haven’t actually told anyone except you. I still need to tell my family eventually.”
He left, and I sat there with a bag of melting ice on my hand. Caeleigh and I got to sit out the game, Caeleigh actually went home, but I stayed to watch.
After the game I had to explain to Sid what happened. He seemed okay with it, told me that next time I should use my words not my fists (I laughed at the irony) and he asked if I was up for sex that night. (I always am)
Sid left the next morning for practice, so I drove my new car to Caeleigh’s house, picking up some ice cream on the way.
“Hey,” I said handing her the ice cream. “I’m sorry, about hitting you, it was bad.” I looked down, not wanting to see the black eye I had given her.’’
“No, I needed it. I can’t believe I was about to say that to Brandon in front of everyone.” She said as we walked into her kitchen. “I mean, it looked like they had gotten engaged, but I didn’t even think about the fact that they had been having a rough time lately.”
“Hey, you couldn’t have known that she was engaged to another guy,” I said as we sat down on her couch to watch Snow White. “I mean, that’s kind of weird. I just thought it was strange that she didn’t tell us, and that’s when I started thinking about it. Or why wouldn’t he have told me if he was planning on proposing to her. We usually talk about that kind of thing, so I knew something was wrong.”
“Whatever, it was a weird situation, I should have just shut up,” She said as we started watching the movie.
We spent the rest of the day watching Disney movies until the Pens Blue Jackets second game was on.
I skyped with Sid after the game. I jokingly asked if he wanted to have phone sex to make up for him not coming home to have real sex before his next game.
He laughed, “You know I have a roommate, right?”
“So? That would only be awkward for you, not me,” I said with a smile.
Instead we watched an episode of Game of Thrones together and then went to sleep.
-
The next morning during breakfast I got a text from Butter.
*Really wish I had someone to hug right now*
I laughed and replied, *you could hug Sid*
*no thanks*
I continued to text him, trying to make him feel better, until I had to go to school.
The next day I woke up feeling sick. Probably because I ate chocolate ice cream for dinner while watching The Notebook.
Caeleigh and I skated a bit, her eye looks better. We made plans to watch the Pens play the Rangers.
It’s really boring without Sid here. He’s gone for an entire week. I have to visit Brandon’s every day to feed Pancake.
I’m okay with boring right now. Things have been pretty exciting lately, so it’s nice to just sit around the house and not do anything, or punch anyone. (or have sex with people I shouldn’t)
Rangers won 5-1, Sid’s going to say it’s because we didn’t have actual sex after their last win. I’m starting to agree with him on that superstition.
They have another game tomorrow in St. Louis, hopefully they do better then!
Sincerely,
Emme
Ps. Carli really wants to come down for my birthday, I think that would be fun but I’ll have to ask Sid. She has a problem with hockey players…..
