Come Closer

“Welcome to Nashville” the flight attendant said as James and I left the aircraft.

“What’s going through your mind babe?” he asked me as we were waiting for our luggage to come off.

“I’m happy to be here, it’s a new start for us.” I said. “I just want to find a place then it will sink in that we live here”

I contacted a very good realtor and we were going to go and look at houses today after we get checked into the hotel we are staying at.

“Welcome to Nashville Mr. Neal, we are excited to have you…maybe we will have a chance this year.” A guy and his wife came up to James and I and shook his hand. “And who is this?”

“This is my fiancée Meghan.” He smiled down at me.

“How far along are you?” the wife said.

“5 months, with twins.”

“Wow, congrats.”

“Thanks.” I smiled at her.

We said goodbye to the couple and got both our bags and got our rental car and headed off to the hotel.

“James this is not what I want.” I said leaving the 1st house we checked out today.

“Well what do you want…Meghan I’m trying my best, I’m not a miracle worker.”

“I want a house with a big backyard, at least 3 rooms, big kitchen.” I said. “Is that too hard to ask?”

We haven’t really been getting along all day, he wants things in a house that I don’t want and I want things that he doesn’t want.

“I’m not asking for a miracle James, I want our kids to have a big house because having twins is huge and I don’t want to be feeling like I live in a tuna can.”

“Meghan I’m not going to get into an argument with you about this, let’s just look at the other houses and start a fight after.” He said.

“I’m not looking for a fight, I’m just telling you want I think.”

We pulled up to the second house and I can already tell that I hate it. We walked in and it was worse.

“This is a four bedroom, 5 bathroom house with a pool and hot tub in the backyard.” Jim the realitor said.

Maybe this is house is not so bad.

“That’s a nice bonus.”I said to James.

“There, something made you happy today.”

We walked throughout the house and I realized that the house is actually pretty nice. The rooms are big, two living areas, one on the main level and one in the basement.

“I’ll let you two talk it over.” Jim left us sit on the front porch.

I burst into tears.

“Why are you crying?” James pulled me into his arms.

“I just don’t know what to do, I’m sorry for being a bitch, I just want our kids to have a good life.”I calmed down. “I’m scared I’m going to be a horrible mother.”

“You are not going to be a horrible mother; we are going to raise these children together. Meghan my family will always come first, hockey comes second.” He kissed me on the head.

“On a happier note, what do you think?”

“I like, I think this is the one.” I had a huge smile on my face.

We went back into the house where Jim was looking on his phone.

“Well…” he said.

“We’ll take it.” We said at the same time.

“Perfect, let’s do up the paper work and get you a new house.”

“Now we have to sell the other one and get all our stuff down here.” James said.

That’s going to be the hard part.

After we got all the paper work finished for the house we went back to the hotel, ordered room service and had a nice evening in.

“Let’s go for a walk.” James said.

We are staying right in the heart of Nashville, what a beautiful city.

“Yeah, sure."

I went to put my jacket on and I could hardly do up the zipper.

“What the fuck, this fit fine 3 days ago.” I stood and looked at myself in the full length mirror.

“What’s wrong.” He said coming out of the bathroom.

“This jacket fit 3 days ago and now I can hardly do it up.”

“Well honey, you are you are getting bigger every day.” He said putting his jacket and shoes on.

“I’m going to be huge, I am going to be honestly be the size of a house.” I said kind of laughing. “I am going to have to go shopping when we go back home to Ontario. Khloe and I will go shopping in Toronto.”

Hopefully I can still fit into my clothes for the next two days.

“Ok, now let’s go before it gets to dark.”

Nashville is beautiful, the landscape is breathtaking. 100 times better than Pittsburgh and it doesn’t snow here!

“Let’s get married.” James said totally out of the blue.

“What.” It totally hit me by surprise. “What about the Bahamas?My dress?”

“We will just have one big party, Meghan let’s just do it.”

“Ok.” The words just kind of just came out. “I’ll phone the courthouse in the morning.”

“We’re really going to do this.” He said.

“I guess so.” I smiled at him.

“Good enough.” James said looking at a wedding band.

We just bought our wedding bands and we are on our way to the courthouse go get married.

I went shopping this morning to find a simple short white dress, it’s no Vera Wang but it will do.

We pulled up to the courthouse and I got instant butterflies in my stomach.

“Ready?” he said turning off the car.

“Yeah, are you?”

“I have always been ready.” We smiled at each other.

We stepped out, James grabbed my hand and in we went, be become husband and wife.

“Do you James Neal take this woman Meghan Fuller to be your wife, do you promise to love her in the good and the bad, in sickness and in heath and till death do you part?” The judge said to James.

“I Do.” He said smiling down at me.

“And do you Meghan Fuller take this man James Neal to be your husband, do you promise to love him in the good and the bad, in sickness and in heath and till death do you part?” The judge said to me.

“I Do” with tears in my eyes.

“Alright, by the power invested in me by the state of Tennessee I now pronouse your husband and wife. James you may now kiss your bride!”

With that I kissed my new husband, this was a long time coming!
