Chapter 8

That after school, Antti was sent up to his room by his father (that's the routine) and began to do his homework. Well, tried to do his homework.
His session was distubred by his father slipping in dinner into his room then leaving immediately without a word.
With a sigh, Antti got up from his chair and walked over to the food. He looked down at it, then he looked over his shoulder at his desk, then back at the food. "That's it, I'm done," Antti said under his breath.
And like that he wiped out the food with his water powers, sending it to the other side of the room.
He stormed over to the door and held out his hand in front of the door knob he was now able to reach easily. Should I? I'm not suppose to...but this...this has gone too far...it's time for him to know.
Antti placed his hand on the knob and swiftly twisted it, opening the door. He walked up the stairs, through the empty room and down the hallway to the livingroom, where his father was busy watching a hockey game.
"No!!! Hit the post!!! Aaaaack!!!" Mr. Niemi placed his hands on his head in frustration. "Why-y?!"
Antti just stood there almost behind the TV, watching his father not take into account that his son was out of his room when he was not suppose to.
After a few more seconds had gone by, Antti leaned over to the table that was between the sofa and the TV, grabbed the remote control, and turned off the TV.
"Yes, yes, yes--what?" Mr. Niemi blinked in confusion, staring at the black screen. He looked up next to the TV, spotting his son. "A-Antti what are you doing here?"
Antti threw the remote back onto the table. "What does it look like I'm doing here?"
"Well, you're not suppose to be here. Go back to your room--"
"No." Antti straightened up.
"Wha?"
"No. I'm sick of this. I'm sick and tired of having to be practically locked up in my room with no reason."
"There is a reason--"
"So what is the reason, father?"
Mr. Niemi shot Antti a grave look. "It's because of your powers, son."
"Just because of my powers?" Antti's eyebrows shot up. "Dad, I know how to control them! I'm not gonna do any harm with them!"
"How do I know that you know how to control 'em?"
"Well, I hadn't flooded the whole house, yet, right?"
Mr. Niemi stood up. "You almost did, though."
"But I didn't," Antti enunciated. "That's all that matters. I hadn't killed anyone my powers, right?"
"You almost did, thou--"
"Dad! It doesn't matter that I almost did, it matters if I didn't!"
"Well, if you almost did, then you're bound to do it later on." Mr. Niemi crossed his arms.
"So you're keeping me in my room just because you're afraid that I'm gonna destory?"
"You showed off your powers to the school--"
"Ohhhhmygosh, I was stupid back then, I was only ten! I-I didn't know any better! Now I'm fifteen! I know how to act properly now!"
"Teenagers do stupid things."
"But I'm not like the others! Anyways, I'm not using my powers at school. I don't even like using 'em, father. Sometimes I wish they were gone."
"But they're still there...right?" Mr. Niemi ambled closer to his son.
"Yea."
"Doesn't change a thing. Now back up to your room--"
"Dad, I told you that I'm not going back--"
"Who says you're not going back?"
"I say."
"But I'm your father. Now go back to your room."
"No."
"Antti, listen to me--!"
"No, I wanna be out here! Why can't I not be out here?"
"Because of your pow--"
"Is there a another good reason other than my powers--?"
"Antti, just go!!" Mr. Niemi shoved Antti to the ground. He looked down at him. "Go. Back. To your. Room."
Antti narrowed his eyes at his father and quickly got up and ran down the hallway. He sped through the empty room, but instead of going to the left to go down the stairs, he goes to the right, where there is a door that leads outside.
"Antti!"
Antti fumbled with the door lock, but managed to unlock it on time, but not open it.
Mr. Niemi grabbed his arm. "You are not going outside--"
"Dad, let GO!!!" Antti blasted his powers at his father, sending him skidding onto the ground, knocked out.
Antti eyes widen at his father. He looked down at his left hand that released the power, then he stumbled out the door into the outside, leaving a trail of water behind.
