In the American Airlines Centre, Coach Ruff is talking to the team about the practice drills. "Okay, so for this drill, you skaters are going to pass to each other and shoot at the net. You goalies are going to alternate at every ten shots, got it?"
Everyone nods in agreement.
"Alright, let's get on it!"
The group of skaters split in half and get into two lines on each side of the rink. Kari gets in the net and Antti is behind the net, waiting for his turn.
After ten shots taken...
Antti skates up to Kari. "It's my turn now."
"Uh, no it's not!" Kari snaps at him sassily.
Tyler says to them both, "Can you guys decide who's in the net before I shoot you both?"
"Okay..." Antti goes back behind the net and waits some more.
After a few more shots...
Antti comes back up to Kari. "Alright, Kari, it's my turn."
Kari turns to look at him. "No, it's not!"
"Yea, you did more than ten shots, so it's my turn!"
"Says who?"
"Says that coach!"
"Who cares about what the coach says! I am the starting goalie and this is my throne and I reign here, Niemi!" Kari lifts himself up and sits on top of the goalie net.
Antti takes this chance and goes in front of the net and Kari.
"Nuh-uh, I don't think so!" Kari leans over and tries to shove him out of the way.
Antti dodges the shove, but Kari continues his attempt.
Jordie Benn smiles happily. "Oh cool, two on one, I never saw it this way before!"
Cody Eakin skates over to Jamie Benn. "Hey, captain, the goalies are having fight! Do something!"
Jamie stares at the goalies, then back at his teammate. He then grabs a puck by the blade of his skate, cradles over to the net and shoots it while saying, "Rawr...!" softly.
Tyler throws his hands in the air. "WHOA! Jamie says his first word!"
Kari looks down at the puck while gawking, then diverts his gaze at Antti. "OMG, I can't believe I have to fight for my throne! This is so unfair! I'm telling coach!" He jumps off form the net and storms off to Coach Ruff.
Antti stands in the goalie's crease, staring at the scene in front of him.
Val skates by him and says, "I am Val Nichushkin."
Antti looks at him oddly as he is skating away. "Uh..."
Jason Demers skates over to him. "I know, Rico, you thought the Sharks practices were bad? This is worse! Apparently, the Pens have the worst practices!" He then skates away
Jason Spezza skates over at the net and shoots a puck into the net while Antti is not paying attention. He starts laughing while skating away.
Antti dips his head down in frustration.
Tyler skates up to him. "Don't worry, Rico, you'll save the next one.
"Oh, thanks, Jason..." He turns to look to see that it's Tyler behind him. "You're not Jason."
"Yea, I know, I just like that nickname of your's." The skater skates away.
Antti groans. "Oh, this is going to be a long season."
