Living The Dream

Chapter 3

ADAMS POV

Before I could let Soupy out of my sight I ran through the crowded dance floor to find him. "Soupy, thatgirlwhowasshe?" I scrambled to say quickly over the loud music.

"Dude slow down, what?" Gregory asked.

"The girl you had a drink with. The mystery rink girl."

"Oh, you mean Dylanne?" So her name's Dylanne. What a beautiful name for a beautiful girl.

"Yes man," I pause. "Please tell me you got her number or something!" I asked, hoping that the answer was yes.

"Nah man, all I know is that she goes to Harvard."

"Well that's helpful but not really. I'm gonna call it a night, see you tomorrow at practice." Well i'm not any closer to meeting my mystery girl. Listen to me. My mystery girl. As if I actually have the right to call her that. For all I know, she could have a boyfriend. But i'm not going to stop until a chance with her.

2 weeks later

"So have you met your mystery girl yet?" Dougie asked while laying on their couch.

"No man, and it's driving me crazy," I vent. "Hopefully i'll see her this weekend at the college tournament."

There is a college hockey tournament at the Garden for the teams from colleges in the area, kicking off the Division 1 hockey season. Coach wants all of the bruins to be there to support the teams, so this is my chance to see my mystery girl.

DYLANNES POV

Classes started 2 weeks ago, and it's going fairly well. As well as it can go for someone who is majoring in biomedical engineering. The homework load is tough, but I still manage to balance my time between school and hockey just fine. We've had a few exhibition games to start off the year, but our first real tournament is this weekend at the TD Garden. All of the hard work and practice we've been doing will be put to the test, and all eyes are going to be on me. I was named the captain of the Harvard Crimson, because Dave said I express great leadership qualities in the locker room. I don't agree, but hey I didn't turn it down.

Friday Afternoon

"Are you ready for game 1 of the tournament Dyl?" Katey asked me on our ride over to the garden.

"I'm just excited to get the first game out of the way you know? Of course i'm super pumped."

"You know what I heard?" I shook my head. "The bruins are going to be there watching."

I immediately got nervous. I haven't talked to Gregory since that night at the bar, and I haven't seen Adam since I ran into him at the rink in August. "Oh really?" I said trying to hide my nervous feelings.

"Dyl, maybe you'll run into Adam again. You so have the hots for him!"

"Kay, for all we know, he has a girlfriend," I pause. "Anyway, i'm here to focus on hockey and school, not some hotshot bruin." I continued as we pulled up to the rink.

"Whatever you say, but just know, anything can happen."

The team and I head into the locker room to change for the game, and quickly head out onto the ice. As of now, there is no sign of the bruins in the building. But surely, it won't last.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We won the game 4-2, with goals from Katey, Sarah, and two from myself. I saw some of the bruins during the second period, but I tried to stay focussed on the task at hand and not on them. We shook hands with the Eagles, and headed into the locker room to shower and change. I took extra long today in the showers, and the team had a few words with coach about the game.

"Great game girls, see you all bright and early tomorrow at 8"

As we were leaving the locker room, I was made aware of our team starbucks date after a win. "Starbucks on 4th" Anna called out after me.
"See you girls there in 10!" I replied and headed to my car.

When I turned around, I walked into what felt like a brick wall. But it certainly was no brick wall.
"We really need to stop running into eachother like this" he paused. "I'm Adam"
