Five Minutes For Fighting (Completed)

Cam Talbot sat in the Connecticut Whale locker room, head down between his legs while his new teammates went on and on about having a girl, especially a Thomas girl on their team. "It's just because Thomas one the 94 cup with Coach Beukeboom that's why she's here." Dale Weise said sitting next to Cam. Cam had just finished an amazing year at Alabama Huntsville getting his team to the Frozen four and couldn't get over this nonsense. "Have you seen her tapes on youtube? She played in the WHL, and OHL. The girl just won the Memorial cup with the Spitfires so shut the fuck up, she's I think like 15 and she's probably better then fucking all of you, it's called natural talent." Cam looked around the room, the guys instantly shut up. Cam was a goalie his spot wasn't open but one of these pansies were and that's why they were crying.

"Caroline you have to get out of the car...." Caroline just sat there in shock, she couldn't just go into the Whale training facility and be like "Hey guys what's up?" So she decided to just sit there. "Honey the first day of training camp starts soon, you have to get in there and get ready." Caroline's mother Cari said as she sat there. "Come on Dad and uncle Mark are making the trip from Greenwich to come pick you up later you love uncle mark." Yeah she loved "Uncle Mark" Mark Messier but she didn't want to be humilated while he was there. "Fine." She grabbed her earphones, put them in her ears as she snapped them into the hole in her iPhone, and grabbed her sticks and hockey bag. Taylor Swift's You Should of Said no in her ears as she opened the door past the Equipment room and down to the locker room. Once she entered she didn't take off her earphones just finding her locker and sitting down. "Hello Girl you can't dress in or out in here go in the bathroom." Caroline looked up at one of the players as she grabbed her under armour bra, and shirt, and shorts and went into the bathroom to change. Quickly coming back and not saying a word to any of them.

She smiled at Cam Talbot, she met him earlier during the Playoffs in the locker room, waiting for Michael and her brother to finish getting ready so they could go to dinner. He was sweet and nice and she and the team went to his wedding this past weekend. "Talbs!" Caroline said patting him on the back as the team left the locker room. "Thomas!" He said as he pulled her in for a hug. "Hows your first day going? Or should I say our first day?" Caroline shook her head. "Not great." He smiled. "Same." They walked into the freezing cold air that she loved and skated onto the ice, warming up next to each other. "How is Kelly! She looked so gorgeous at the wedding, such a sweet girl!" Caroline said as she stretched her hamstrings. "She's good, not loving Hartford but ya know. She knows your commuting from Greenwich so she said you could stay at our place whenever you want!" Caroline laughed, Cam and Caroline and Kelly playing NHL '10 until 2 in the morning? She's in. As practice started everyone was warming up to Caroline, music playing to pump the guys up she started singing and dancing to Taylor Swift while she waited in line for drills. "Thomas over here now." She turned to see who it was. Uncle Jeff. "OKAY!" She skated over to the bench. "What's up Uncle Jeff?...I mean Coach." Jeff laughed. "You turned up your game today, Coach Gernander loves you, and you work hard. Expect to be here opening night, and maybe a call up." Uncle Jeff was serious, but players can't play if they don't have NHL contracts and it's hard to get a one game waiver, or contract. She didn't want to play up in the Show like that, she wanted to prove herself here then in a couple years get drafted and play up in the Show as a real player. She nodded her head. The first practice of training camp ended soon after, her legs didn't feel bad, due to all the conditioning she did with the boys back in Minnesota and Thunder Bay she proved this summer she could keep up with them. "Good praccy Thomas." Cam said patting her shoulder. She winced. She hurt it during practice and need a icy hot quickly.

She grabbed her duffel the team had given all of them, and left her sticks in the hallway with everyone else as the equipment managers started to take all their gear away to air out for tomorrow. She walked out of the practice facility looking for Uncle Mark's Range Rover or her Dad's G Wagon and saw an Audi she practically spent her whole summer in. She walked over to the Audi S8 and knocked. She grinned as Michael Del Zotto opened his car door and smiled. "You aren't Marcus Thomas or Messier." She stated as she hugged him, pain in her shoulder. "Why are you wincing?" Michael said grabbing her duffel from her and throwing it in the back. "Nothing slammed into the boards, it's fine. Wait the city is like 2 hours from here." She said opening the passenger door and climbing in, buckling her seatbelt. "I felt like a ride and I could kiss you in here and nobody would care. I could hold your hand and nobody would care. When are we actually going to tell people? Your family loves me, they will die of happiness." Caroline knew her parents didn't care about the whole age difference thing even though Michael was 18 and she was 14 it was everyone else. "Just kiss me and shut up, I just want to keep it to the down low in case it doesn't work out." She said kissing him, as he kissed her back. "Fair enough." He smiled at her as she gripped his hand tightly.

It was a long ride back to the city with traffic but it was fun jamming out to the Killers, Tay Swift and The Maine with Michael, goofing off and kissing when it was a standstill. As soon as Michael parked on the street of the apartment building half the rangers lived in she buzzed all the names "Rangers Residence." "Girardi" "Callahan" and they all buzzed her in. She loved the loft Michael, Brendan, Brandon Dubinksy, Sean Avery, and a bunch of other rookies lived in. They were a big family, her family. She walked in, took off her sneakers, threw her duffel bag down and went straight to the redone kitchen that her parents did over the summer. Her parents bought it for investment and now any Ranger who needs a place to stay called it home. "HOW WAS IT! FUCKING TELL ME. DID YOU SEE DALE WEISE." Sean Avery screamed in her ear. "It was fun, Dale was a dick as usual." Sean laughed. "That pussy next time I see him I'll deck him."
She laughed. "I am going to my room, with a thousand icy hots tell me when the Chinese food comes." Caroline went to her room which she shared with Stu Bickel who just moved in, and signed his contract. She didn't know what they were going to do with him, come to the whale with her or to the show with them. Stu looked up as she entered placing the icy hots on her shoulder and legs. "You look hot." She laughed. "Thanks Stuuu." She lied on her bed staring up at the ceiling, each room was painted Navy, Blue, Red and White Ranger Colors so no one could pick a color they liked.

"Hey losers dinner is here." Brendan said knocking, coming in closing his eyes. "Come on Brendan me and Stu aren't like having sex, and I am fully dressed." Brendan made a throwing up motion as he took his hands off his eyes and stared at him. Caroline was on her bed in one of Michael's old Rangers Sweatshirts, a 4 on the front and back, and his nickname MDZ on the back and a pair of Nike Shorts. Stu practically in the same thing but Anaheim sweatshirt who he played for shortly. "Fine but dinner is here and the guys are laying it out on the dining room table so let's go." She got up and walked into the living room/dining room and sat down next to Michael. "Caroline bum me a California Roll." Brandon Dubinsky said as he messed up her hair. "Sorry loser but no, these are mine." Caroline smirked taking one and popping it into her mouth. "I am your godfather that's not fair." Dubi said grabbing one without asking. "We know." Marc and Ryan Callahan said in unison. She had a lot of godfathers. After dinner she went up stairs to Michael's room which he shared with Marc. "Lindsay I can't wait to see you." Marc said muttering into the phone. "HEY LINDSAY LOVE YOU" Caroline shouted smirking. She went over to michael and laid on his bed. Marc knew everything and told them that he never saw anything. They laid there cuddled up and dozed off.
