Proving Everyone Wrong
Three
POV of anyone watching the game on TV:
"Well the college hockey season has finally started folks! Tonight is all about UVM and UND. What do you think about UVM's team this year Chris?" Mitch the announcer on television started off commentary turning to his colleague, Chris.
"Well they didn't lose too many guys last season but even with one new guy you always have to work hard to get everyone to gel. I've sat in on one of their practices and let me tell you Mitch, if UND isn't prepared tonight, their in for a beating. UVM has definetly upped the anty this year." Chris replied.
"Well Chris, I doubt UND would be unprepared for hockey, just look at their record of NHL stars. Speaking of which, former UND player, Jonathan Toews, is the new captain of the Chicago Blackhawks. That must of been a great feeling for Coach Jay when he found out the news that another one of his guys has reached such a level!"
"Definetly Mitch, that has to be a proud moment for him, Jonathan, and the whole Toews family! But that's not the only bit of luck Coach Jay got befor this season."
"That's right Chris! Over the course of the off season Coach Jay acquired six new players! Five freshman, first time college hockey players and --"
"The first female to ever be in the men's college hockey league --"
"Right-O Chris! Meg Williams is a Freshman this year to but if anyone out there has followed Rutgers University the past three years they would know that this girl is anything but new to the world of men's college hockey. The past three years she's helped Rutgers not only go to the Frozen Four but win it all three years."
"You know Mitch, I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to play college hockey as a Sophomore in high school, talk about a beating and wow that must of been such a great feeling being so young and all!"
"Absolutely Chris! Not just has she won these past three years but in her Sophomore year she became the youngest gold medal winning captain of the USA Woman's Hockey Olympic Team!"
"I remember that Mitch!" Chris paused to chuckle,"I remember watching an interview of hers and she was saying how she loved getting to play in the Olympics and was so honored but that she couldn't wait to get back into the men's hockey league because she's not used to the woman's playing style or rules. She said that it was to restricted and she liked how rough the guys played in comparison to the girls!"
"That was amusing to see a fifteen year old girl saying she's ready to hand out some fists to the face! Well Ladies and Gentleman it's just about time for the game to start. UVM, UND College Hockey has officially started!" Mitch said and the cameras switched from the two commentators to the ice where the puck was just about to drop.
