Morgan is a bundle of nerves watching the Pens/Canes game. She starts getting angry hearing the fans boo James every time he touches the puck. Leslie then calls her.

Leslie - You watching this disgusting game?
Morgan - This is horrible to watch. I can’t stand hearing him get booed.
Leslie - You should stop watching if it’s going to upset you.
Morgan - Maybe I should.

Just then Morgan sees James get run into the boards and goes down. No one sticks up for James laying on the ice. Jordan disgusted at what just happened to James comes over the boards and sticks up for James by getting in a fight. Jordan is ejected from the game while the stretcher comes out to get James off the ice. Morgan and Leslie are in complete shock at what just happened.

Leslie - Wow, this awful to watch. Why wouldn’t anyone stick up for him? Thank god for Jordan.
Morgan - You have Eric to thank for that.
Leslie - What?
Morgan - He wants James off the team and has gotten everyone to not accept him. Now he’ll go after Jordan for defending James.
Leslie - Oh wow that’s awful. You or Jordan have to talk to the coaching staff or front office about what’s going on.
Morgan - I’m coming up there to be with James. I’m bringing the kids with me. Can I drop them off at your apartment so I can be with James?
Leslie - Of course you can. James needs you so I would be glad to watch them.
Morgan - Ok I’ll be there when I can.
Leslie - Ok, it’ll be ok hon. James will be ok.
Morgan - I’ll talk to you later.
Leslie - Ok

The girls hang up and Morgan gets ready to head up to Pittsburgh. Meanwhile back in Pittsburgh Jordan is scolding his team for not sticking up for a teammate in the visiting locker room.

Jordan - I can’t believe what I saw tonight. I’m disgusted with all of you for not sticking up for a teammate when he got injured tonight. All of you are cowards. Don’t let Eric brainwash you guys into not liking James cuz he’s with my ex-wife now. It’s just sickening seeing all of you treat him so badly from the minute he stepped into the locker room.
Eric - How dare you stick up for him. He caused your marriage to end.
Jordan - No Eric you’re the one who caused my marriage to Morgan to end. You brainwashed me into not loving her anymore. So grow up Eric and get over it. Morgan is with James now so just accept it. That’s a horrible reason to want him off the team already.
Eric - So you’re ok with your ex-wife being with a drug addict?
Jordan - James isn’t a drug addict. He missed the first 10 weeks into the season cuz he was recovering from a serious case of Mono.
Eric - You don’t believe that story do you?
Jordan - Yes I do cuz Morgan called me the day she took him to the ER.

Jordan and Eric continue fighting. Meanwhile Morgan gets back in town and runs JJ and Isabella over to Leslie’s so she can go to the hospital to be with James. She arrives at the hospital and asks the lady at the front desk where James is. She tells Morgan that he was rushed into surgery to have both his spleen and appendix taken out and that he also has a broken wrist that had to have a couple pins put in. Morgan tells her thank you and then goes into the waiting area. She starts to cry and becomes very nervous. An hour passes and the surgeon that operated on James comes over to Morgan.

Surgeon - Are you here to see James Neal?
Morgan - Yes I’m his wife. Is he going to be ok?
Surgeon - Yes he’s going to be fine but he’s not going to be playing hockey for awhile.
Morgan - How long are we talking?
Surgeon - 4-6 months.
Morgan - Can I go see him?
Surgeon - Of course you can.

The surgeon leads Morgan to the room where James is. She goes into the room and starts to cry seeing James laying on the bed with an IV heading into his arm. She goes over to his bed and pulls a chair closer to his bed. She takes a hold of his hand.

Morgan - James? Honey? I’m here for you. I’m so grateful that you’re going to be ok. I should have come with you so this wouldn’t have happened. (Starts to cry again) I love you so much. (Leans forward to gives James a kiss)

Just then James wakes up and weakly smiles at Morgan.

James - Hey baby, what are you doing here?
Morgan - I had to come be with you when I saw what happened. I’m sorry this happened to you. I promised you that you would be ok.
James - Baby, it’s not your fault this happened. (Caresses Morgan’s cheek)
Morgan - You sure?
James - Of course baby. How were you to know I was going to get hurt tonight.
Morgan - I guess you’re right. Do you need anything honey?
James - Just for you to stay with me.
Morgan - Of course I will. I’m going to call Leslie cuz I’m sure she wants to how you’re doing.
James - Just hurry back babe.
Morgan - Don’t worry I won’t be gone long

Morgan gives James a kiss and then goes into one of the waiting rooms to call Leslie.

Leslie - Hey, how’s James doing?
Morgan - He’s beat up pretty bad.
Leslie - What’s wrong?
Morgan - He was rushed into surgery to remove both his spleen and appendix. He also has a broken wrist.
Leslie - Oh my god. Is he going to be ok?
Morgan - Yeah, but he’s not going to be playing for 4-6 months.
Leslie - Wow, is there anything I can do for you guys?
Morgan - Just watch the kids till he’s able to get out of the hospital.
Leslie - You guys can stay with me till he’s able to go back to Raleigh.
Morgan - Really?
Leslie - Sure, now go back and be with your man.
Morgan - I’ll call you tomorrow.
Leslie - Ok

The girls hang up and Morgan goes back to James’s room. She sees that he is sound asleep. She sits back down in the chair and starts holding James’s hand again. She runs her fingers through his hair and gives him a kiss and tells him how much she loves him. Jordan then arrives and comes in the room.

Jordan - Don’t worry I won’t stay long. I just wanted to see how he’s doing.
Morgan - He’s pretty beat up.
Jordan - How bad is it?
Morgan - He had to have his spleen and appendix removed. He also broke his wrist.
Jordan - Wow, is he going to be ok?
Morgan - He’s going to be out 4-6 months.
Jordan - Wow, do you need anything?
Morgan - Just for you to tell me why everyone on the team except for you hates James.
Jordan - Eric has brainwashed everyone to hate him cuz of you and I not being married anymore and the whole drug use thing.
Morgan - It was sickening to see no one stick up for him until you did.
Jordan - It’s so wrong that he’s being treated like this. I may ask to be traded if this continues. I can’t take Eric anymore.
Morgan - I don’t blame you.
Jordan - I’m going to go. Call me if you need anything.
Morgan - I will.

Jordan gives Morgan a hug and tells her that everything is going to be ok and to call him if she needs anything while James is recovering. Jordan leaves and Morgan falls asleep in the chair until the next morning. James is in the hospital for a few days. They stay at Leslie’s apartment for a few weeks and then return to Raleigh. Over the next few weeks Morgan starts to notice James not acting like himself.
