Sidney fired up the grill when Carrie texted to let him know that they were leaving the zoo. He opted not to attend the family outing simply because he wasn't technically family, and because no one but Carrie's sister knew anything about him. Everyone else just thought he signed her paychecks.

So he stayed behind and went to the grocery store to get a variety of things to grill. "The pool is bigger than the pool at the park!" Caleb shouted as he ran ahead of everyone. He stopped when he caught sight of Sidney.

"Hi Sidney!" Trevan said when he stopped next to Caleb. Sidney knuckle bumped the older boy and waited for the rest of the group to make an appearance.

"They are so excited to get in the pool," Kathleen explained when she waddled up next to the boys with swim vests in hand.

"Well the pool house is open. The water is nice and cool and there are pool toys under the bench seating along the pool house," Sid said with a smile.

He was quickly introduced to Jeremy, Mr. And Mrs. Palmer and watched as Carrie escaped into the house. As her family got ready to jump in and cool off he snuck inside to find her for a quiet moment alone.

He found her just in the kitchen foraging for the various food items he was instructed to pick up. She was about to start on a small cheese tray when she saw him and smiled. She stopped what she was doing and followed him with her eyes as he came around the island and swooped her up in his arms. "Did you have fun today?" Sid asked as he grabbed a chunk of cheddar and popped it in his mouth. He stood dangerously close to her as she worked.

"The zoo was nice, but crowded. Good call on not going. So many pens shirts. It was hot too. I am going to do this and cut up the fruit and veggies and then change into my suit." Sid leaned close and growled softly in her ear. "What?"

"You and bathing suits. Ugh!" Carrie had to laugh. She understood what he meant about seeing each other with little to no clothes on.

"My sister is coming," Carrie half whispered and nudged Sid to step away.

"Mom and dad are in the water, you two don't have to worry," Kathleen said as she walked through the doors. "I've come to help!"

"Oh great! There are bags of mixed veggies that need washed and a watermelon to cut," Carrie said.

"Why don't you clean the veggies, Sidney, and I can cut the watermelon up. The kids like the sticks I make," Kath explained. Sid nodded and did as he was instructed, first placing the watermelon in front of Carrie's sister and handing her a few knives to choose from.

"Good! The faster we get this done the faster we can get in the water. I swear I think I smell," Carrie claimed, Kathleen gave her sister a knowing look and Sid leaned close and took a sniff.

"It's all in your head, lady. You smell good to me!"

"That's only because you are lusting after her," Kath laughed.

"Hey, hey, hey, it's more than lust," Sid corrected with a pointed look and a little smirk. And the three erupted into chuckles.

"You'll come to visit then?" Mrs. Palmer asked while giving Carrie a goodbye hug.

"Yes, I promise I will. I'll come down next month with Kathleen and the kids." After the full day with her parents, Carrie finally caved and decided she could spare a week away from Pittsburgh. She loved spending time with her parents.

"You don't have any obligations with Sidney?"

"No. I'll be bored while he is training. He will be finishing up his endorsement deals in the coming weeks and I'll have time to myself." He will be hundreds of miles away while she stayed in Pittsburgh.

"He's a sweet boy and very handsome."

"He's not much younger than me mom." She knew why her mom would reference him as a boy, he still had a boyish charm about him.

"He doesn't have a girlfriend?" Carrie was caught off guard on that one. She hesitated in her answer.

"What? Uh, no. He doesn't."

"Is he gay?"

"Mother!"

"What? It seemed only fair to ask. He isn't around."

"He isn't gay. He just, he's protective of his assets."

"Hmm, okay. We will call when we get back home tomorrow." Mrs. Palmer hugged Carrie as she said this.

"Sounds good."

"Love you sweetie."

"Love you."

Carrie was watching her family pull out of the driveway when Sidney snuck up behind her.

"Do I give off a vibe that I am gay or something? Seriously," he asked catching her by surprise.

"Oh my God!" She turned and smacked him on the chest. "You scared me!"

"They're gone?" She nodded. "Good, I've been dying to do this all day." Carrie anticipated a peck on the lips but was surprised when he didn't lean in close to do so.

Instead Sidney just had a mischievous smile appear on his face as he peered over her head in the direction of the disappearing vehicle. When he was certain that they were out of sight from her family he reached down and lifted her over his shoulder, bolting back through the house and up the steps towards her bedroom, all the while Carrie squealed with laughter and excitement.
