Together Until We Die...

Patrick Sharp was in complete shock. Andrew Shaw was slightly confused.

“They’ve been kidnapped?” the Chicago pest questioned. “By who?”

“I don’t know.”

He checked his phone again. Was he seeing things? Did he really just read a text that told him two of his best friends were being held hostage and tortured? Unfortunately, he did. He read the text again. Oh, yeah, he didn’t let Andrew see the “torture” part of the message. He didn’t want to freak Andrew out. But he didn’t recognize the number either. Who had texted him? And why did they have Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews?

Suddenly the device vibrated again. Adam Burish was calling him. He flung his head backward. Of all the worse times that the guy could call, now was definitely the ultimate worst! But he didn’t want to be rude. He slid his finger across, unlocking the call and stuck the phone up to his ear.

“What’s up Bur?” he responded, trying to mask his depression about the news via the text.

“Hey, Sharpy. Man, its been a while, but listen, I had to call you, because I got a call from Prongs, remember that jackass?”

“Yeah.”

“He told me that he had kidnapped the kids!”

Patrick’s mouth fell open. Andrew stared at him, an eyebrow raised.

“You know? How do you know--no, why do you know?”

“Because he said that this was because of the two of us and a score from 2010.”

“But he shouldn’t be bringing that up!”

“I know. But he’s a crazy son of a bitch, so I’m coming to Chicago to help you out!”

“Oh, Bur, that’s not necessary. Really, don’t, I can handle it!”

“By yourself? Ha! Buddy, you couldn’t even wake yourself up when we were roommates together. You need me!”

Patrick Sharp sighed and rolled his eyes. “Fine.”

There was a click on the other end, as Adam Burish quickly hung up.

Andrew gazed at the model prankster. “Who was that?”

“An old friend, teammate and roomie, named "Bur." Adam Burish is coming to town!”
