"Hello?" Sam answered as he stretched from his nap.

"Sammy,"

"What, Audrey?" He sighed as he sat up.

"Do you think you could come over and watch the boys? I have an essay due." She explained.

"Yeah. Give me like twenty minutes." He rubbed his face.

"You're actually the best." She cooed.

"Yeah, I know." He chuckled before ending the call.

In less than ten minutes, Sam was at the Brown household. He let himself in. Four screaming children and a dog came to greet him. Audrey came into the living room smiling. He smiled at her before giving her a hug. She thanked him before she ran upstairs. Sam dropped onto the couch.

"Sam?" Jake spoke as he sat down beside Sam. "Do you like Audrey?"

"I love Audrey. She's a great girl." Sam smiled.

"Are you in love with her?" Cooper asked, sitting on his other side.

Mason walked Mackenzie over to Sam, who picked her up. She played with his shirt as she sat on his lap. Mason sat down in front of Sam.

"Do you love Audrey like my dad loves my mom?" He rocked while playing with his feet.

"No, Mase. I love Audrey like you love her." Sam explained.

Mason shot up. "I don't love Audrey!"

"You have to love her. She's your sister!" Sam smiled.

"Girls are gross!" Cooper whined.

Mackenzie kicked him. He gasped. Everyone else laughed. Sam hung out with the kids for the rest of the night. He put Mackenzie and Mason to bed at eight and let the two older boys stay up for an extra half hour.

After nine, he finished cleaning up and went to check on Audrey. He knocked on her door. Her music paused and he heard footsteps. Her door swung open. She was walking back to her bed, her back to Sam. She dropped into her bed.

"How's your essay going?" He questioned, sitting on the edge of her bed.

She looked over at him, make up streaks down her face. She had a frown and her eyes were glossy. Sam leaned over, pulling Audrey into him. She wiped her face and cuddled into him. He held her close while he stroked her hair. She sat up, wiping her eyes

"What's wrong?" He squeezed her thigh.

"Essays just stress me out." She laughed. "I'm annoying, sorry."

"Nah, you're great." He smiled, hugging her again.

"You're the best." She sighed, rubbing her face.

Sam kept an arm around Audrey while she checked her phone. Jo had sent her a snapchat. She opened it and it was of him and Curtis. She clicked the camera icon and flipped it to front camera. She made a weird face, Sam followed her lead. She snapped it and sent it without a caption.

The next day when Sam walked into the change room, he earned a round of applause. He just slowed as he walked to his spot. There was mumbling amongst the guys. Sam just went to his spot and started to get dressed. Griffin watched his younger brother.

"So, are you boning the coach's daughter?" Zach broke the silence, drinking some Gatorade.

"What?" Sam choked.

"Jo told us you were cuddling in her bed last night." Josh smirked.

"I was watching her siblings while she did her essay and then she got worked up so I comforted her." Sam rolled his eyes. "You guys are worse than girls."

"There's no way you aren't fucking her." Jo shook his head.

"I'm seeing someone and it's not her." Sam stated before stomping out of the change room.

The rest of the guys walked out after her. Michael stopped before he got to the ice. He called Dani over. She excused herself from the girls and walked over. He leaned down, giving her a kiss. She smiled up at him.

"I have some bad news." He frowned.

"Oh no,"

"The guys were teasing Sam about hooking up with Audrey, he got kinda heated and said he was seeing someone else." He told her.

"All Sam fucking does is flirt with her. He is not doing this." Danielle hissed.

Michael shrugged. "I don't know, babe."

A couple hours after practice, Danielle insisted that Audrey go to Chipotle with her. Audrey didn't really like that kind of stuff, but she loved Dani too much to say no. They walked in and got a table. Danielle got her food and Audrey's boring burrito. They began to eat. Audrey didn't know the actual reason Danielle had brought her to this place.

Just like clockwork, Sam strolled in with his date. Danielle started to cough. Audrey furrowed her brows, slowly turning around. She felt her heart stop when she spotted them. Audrey didn't know the girl, but she didn't like her. She took a deep breath, squeezing her eyes shut. When she opened them, Sam's hand was on the small of the girl's back. He glanced and nearly dropped when he caught Audrey's glance.

The girl walked away. Audrey shot up. She was pissed. She walked over to him, crossing her arms. Danielle watched from the table. Sam looked pale. He deserved it.

"Who's that?" Audrey asked.

"Uh, that's Lauren." He answered.

She nodded. "So are you seeing her?"

"I mean, this is our first date." He mumbled.

"Okay, Sam." She chuckled, brushing past him and walking out.

He chased after her. "Audrey, come on!" He called. "You're my best friend, you're supposed to be supportive!"

"You're not supposed to string your best friend on, Sam." She said, fighting tears.

She shook her head again before walking to her car. Dani sighed as she walked past him. He frowned at her. She tapped his arm before she walked to Audrey's car. Sam let out a growl. This wasn't supposed to happen. He exhaled and walked to his car, leaving Lauren at Chipotle.
