No Place I'd Rather Be...

Epilogue - Kazer Forever!

This was definitely how he always wanted it to be. The fact that it actually happened? Yeah, he hadn’t fully expected to get it. Jonathan wouldn’t want it any other way. They didn’t need anything more than this; even Patrick had agreed to that. Jonathan had to admit he was a bit surprised when Patrick easily agreed to all of this.

Jonathan smiled as he squeezed Patrick’s hands. “We’re in this together,” he whispered.

Patrick beamed at him. “Of course we are.”

“Patrick, do you take Jonathan to be your husband?” the judge asked. “Do you promise to be with him through the good times and the bad? Do you promise to love him and cherish him forever?”

Patrick nodded. “I do.”

“Jonathan, do you take Patrick to be your husband? Do you promise to be with him through the good times and the bad? Do you promise to love him and cherish him forever?”

Jonathan smiled. “I do.”

“Then by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and husband.”

Jonathan beamed at that announcement. He rested his hands on Patrick’s cheeks, cradling his head delicately, as he kissed him softly. Patrick rested his hand on Jonathan’s arms, smiling into the kiss.

Later on,

The same day, after they were legally and happily married, they all left the chapel and made it to Jonathan’s parent’s house in Chicago, where the small post-wedding party was going to be held. It was brightly shining outside in the mid-afternoon. Jonny’s mom and Patrick’s mom had been at it for days, cooking and baking and being absolutely ridiculous with one another, sharing stories from their sons’ childhoods. There was more than enough to eat and drink and Jonny hadn’t been away from Patrick’s side for more than a minute since they got back from the hospital.

The Blackhawk Captain was keeping his word and was serious about being with Patrick, though he did give his winger some space from time to time, but he was NEVER going to lose the blond again.

“It’s time to dance!” his mother finally proclaimed, clapping her hands together.

“What? Mom, no,” Jonathan whined, standing from his seat at the breakfast bar. “I don’t--I don’t dance. You know that.”

“Yes, Jonathan, you can’t have a reception without dancing, and you do dance...that ‘Tazer Moonwalk’ thing, that’s a dance, dear,” she responded, leaving no room for argument.

“Ugh, fine.”

Patrick was all grins and agreed with her. Jonny could just throw him out into the back yard but he didn’t. If he had to dance then that meant Patrick had to dance with him. And after some thought, that wasn’t so bad. He yanked him along into the den where his parents had moved the furniture out of the way to create a makeshift dance floor.

“This is stupid,” Jonny sighed.

Patrick put both arms around his neck and dragged him into a kiss. “I don’t know, I think it’s kind of romantic.”

“It’s kind of gay,” Jonny corrected.

“We are gay.”

Jonathan had nothing for that one, so when his mother turned on some slow song that he’d never heard before, he pulled Patrick close and found his hand with his own.

It wasn’t really not so bad. It was actually kind of nice to just sway around holding his husband close with everyone he cared about looking on. He closed his eyes and smiled into Patrick’s curls because this...? Well...this is bliss.

He ended up dancing with his own mom and Patrick’s mom and sisters, shaking off the thought and rust and just going with it. They traded off for a while as Patrick danced with his mom and then Jonny’s and worked his way through his sisters, before Adam Burish and Patrick Sharp butted in as the music was changed to something faster, more popular, and pulled Patrick against his chest.

Jonathan wound up dancing with Brent Seabrook as well. And then it just fell into a blur of Niklas Hjalmarsson, Adam Burish, Patrick Sharp, Brandon Saad, Duncan Keith, and Andrew Shaw. He danced with his brother and then - finally - Patrick again. He felt ridiculous and juvenile and his face hurt from smiling so hard. It was made worse when Patrick leaned up on his bare toes to pull him into a deeper kiss, their tongues brushed together with the promise of what was waiting for them that night. They were not getting a hotel and they were not leaving on any sort of honeymoon for another week, but they were spending their first night in the house Jonathan had bought for them here in Chicago.

The brunette had sold his condo place and Patrick had sold his place. They had agreed on one house in particular that was in the same neighborhood as Patrick Sharp. And they’d bought it together.

This had been Jonathan’s wedding gift to him. “For my American husband,” he’d said with a smile, handing Patrick a set of keys. “It’s on a lake and we can get a boat and jetskis and whatever else we want. It’s pretty secluded so you know—” Patrick had cut him off with a kiss that left him shaking and panting with strands of Patrick’s hair wrapped around his fingers when he pulled away.

“You Canadian,” Patrick had retorted, as he pulled away, grinning.

They finished dancing and having a ton of fun. “You ready to go home?” Jonathan asked when they break apart. Patrick smiled against his mouth and kissed him again.

“Why? Are you going to take advantage of me tonight, Mr. Toews?”

Jonny felt like his grin was going to split his face in two. “That is my plan, Mr. Kane.”

Patrick kissed his bottom lip and pulled back with a hum. “Then let’s cut that cake and get the fuck out of here.”

Jonathan laughed as Patrick snatched his hand in his and pulled him towards the kitchen. He couldn’t help the fierce swelling of pride when he looked down at the ring on Patrick’s finger.

The only thoughts in his head were “love you” and “mine.”

This was definitely the way it was meant to me. A simple, yet perfect day with the team, close friends and family. All of them happy and rejoicing their happiness.

Kazer forever!

The End.

So this is the real Keith Ballard, in case anyone was interested:

Kinda evil, isn't he? I swear, I had no idea about him before creating the killer character. Then I just hear the name "Keith Ballard" during a Lightning game and....woo-la! Imagine the laughter I had...man. That's like me guessing my roommates real middle name. ;)
He also reminds me a little bit of Bur (Adam Burish)...but BUR IS BETTER!! :D

I believe I have figured out and fixed the timeline issue of the flux in time with this. If it still doesn't read right or the time seems awkward or confusing, please let me know. :)

Okay, so around the Kazer Dinner Scene and Kinny's Torture, there is supposed to be a flux in time. Kinny's torture scene happens a day AHEAD of the Kazer Dinner. So when the Stalking Kaner chapter happens, it should be thought of as two days behind Kinny's torture. It will make sense - hopefully - coming up soon here. (I'm not sure how to stick this into the story yet, but just wanted to let all you readers know that it should be a two day difference between the two separate events: Kazer and Kinny.)

I have broken this story up into three parts, just so everyone is clear and understanding of what I am doing here. :D ~ EvelynaKitty
