Resurrection and Revenge

Jamie Benn took off from the United Center with his new friends in Russell Wilson and Jonathan Toews. They made it to the Chicago Captain’s house, where they quickly drew up a plan and grabbed some things of necessity like Jonathan’s "cool" sunglasses (the one's he wears in "cool" circumstances...like in D&T).

Then they left and jumped into a car together. Jamie sat in the back, in the middle. He leaned forward between the two seats and glanced back and forth at both men sitting up front. It took him a few minutes, before his curiosity peaked to the highest point and he had to get some answers from the Blackhawk and Seahawk.

“So, this had happened before, right? Over the summer?” Jamie asked them.

“Yeah...just over summer last year. Avery kidnapped Patrick and tormented him, before Russ and I came to the rescue.”

“I remember hearing that...but why? And...Patrick did what to Avery?”

“Nothing. That’s the thing. He didn’t do a thing. It was Avery who started all the trouble! It’s Avery and his selfishness!” Jonathan explained.

“So Avery’s jealous?” Jamie questioned, cocking his head to the side.

The light turned green and they started off again, as Jonathan replied with, “Possibly. But I tend to think it is more that he’s just messed up in the head. He’s one lab accident away from being a serial killer.”

“Well, if he kills Patrick, he technically is a murderer!” Russell put forth, shaking his head.

“But what happened to him to make him like this? I mean, why would he think that kidnapping Patrick, Tyler and a bunch of Blackhawks, is a good thing? Let alone the right thing,” Jamie proposed.

“It’s just gotta be him. I don’t know. Avery’s always crossed the line and taken things too far.”

The football player in the passenger seat nodded his head vigorously. “Crabtree too. He’s the NFL’s “Sean Avery”...it’s sick and demented really.”

“Figures...never did like Avery’s antics.” Jamie sat back and rolled his eyes. He folded his arms across his chest and looked like a little kid who had just received a horrible scolding from their parental figure.

“Well, he must be stopped once and for all!” the Blackhawk Captain exclaimed.

“I couldn’t agree more! Crabtree too!” Russell agreed.

“Oh yes! Both of them. We have to find them, destroy them and save Patrick.”

There was a moment of silence, as Jonathan stopped the car at a stoplight. Ahead of them, a crowd of fans was gathered and protesting. A few of them held pitchforks, weapons and torches and were demanding a truth and explanation for the lockdown and halt of the Blackhawks games. They didn’t know it was Avery and the moment they found out, Jonathan was certain they’d all want Avery’s head.

But they couldn’t know. If they were to find out the truth it might make things that much worse for “Dangeruss and Tazer.”

Jonathan felt bad for them. The fans of Chicago were devoted to their team and it was wrong of Avery to do this. But what did the ex-hockey goon care? He only wanted revenge on Kaner and the Blackhawks….by any means plausible.

It made Jonathan Toews really frustrated...like he wanted to punch something or someone! He just really wanted to punch Avery in his ugly face and whisk his friend to safety. Patrick didn’t deserve this. He was genuinely sorry for all of his past drunken cases and he just wanted to focus on scoring goals and helping his team out. He was mature and he was the farthest thing from a threat. (Tyler Seguin was more of a threat than him.)

Perhaps it would be somewhat smart to let the fans know, but at the same time, Jonathan just wanted to do things alone. And what were they going to do with Jamie? He was like a third member of their group now.

“But wait, if Chicago’s on the lockdown, then how are we going to be able to get out and rescue everyone?” Jamie inquired, leaning forward once more.

That was a valid point.

How were they going to get out of Chicago?
