Resurrection and Revenge

Getting into Notre Dame…Featuring the NHL 7

The Rescue crew, consisting of Jonathan Toews, Russell Wilson, Jamie Benn, Sidney Crosby, Ryan Getzlaf, Patrice Bergeron, Carey Price all made it to Paris, France. The flight touched down in the middle of the day around 1:00pm there. They filed off of the plane and the Bruin Captain let the pilot know what was going on and to come get them at moment’s notice when he called.

Then they made it to a hotel and relaxed for a little bit, well, all except Jonathan, who was pacing like a madman. He was fretting and talking to himself.

“I have to find and save Kaner. I won’t be able to play hockey without him. I need him. I have to find Kaner and I have to save him. Yes…” and on and on.

Russell walked up to him and halted him. He grabbed him on either side of his shoulders and halted him in place. “You need to relax. We’re going to find him. Kaner’s gonna be fine!”

“But this is the second time.”

“I know, we’ll find him. Avery’s not going to succeed! Kaner’s okay!”

“Peeks!!” Jonathan suddenly gasped and fell backward, onto the foot of a bed. Ryan, Patrice, Carey and Sidney were all looking on. Jamie had been sent to check out the Notre Dame alone.

However, he hadn’t returned yet. It was that uncertainty that really plagued the Chicago Captain. He buried his head in his hands, shaking his head. Russell patted his shoulder. He reached out and slowly lowered the hockey player’s hands downward from the face.

That’s when the door to the hotel room burst open. Jamie darted in and slammed the door shut behind him. He looked like he was out of breath and had just seen a ghost. He leaned against the door, his chest heaving up and down with the effort to slow his heart rate. The others all looked at him.

“Jamie?” Sidney questioned. “What’s wrong?”

The Dallas Star forced himself into calmness and took a deep breath, before he told them his story. “I-I...the entrance to the Notre Dame is sealed shut and I peeked into a window and saw Landy!! He was bound with tape and gagged with this cloth.”

“YOU SAW LANDESKOG?!” Ryan exclaimed, jumping over the bed.

“I did, but he was helpless and struggling. I backed away and when I did, I bumped into this black guy--”

“--Crabtree!” Russell hissed.

“Yeah, I think...I freaked out. I don’t think he knew who I was, but I darted straight here. I wasn’t sure if he knew me or not, but he didn’t give chase. I thought he might grab me or something.”

“I told you to be careful, Jamie,” Jonathan whimpered. “Avery can’t know we are here. Kaner’s dead if he knows.”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t know he was there. I double checked, but he just showed up.” Jamie looked down at his feet.

“It’s okay Jamie,” Sidney said, as he walked forward and put an arm around Jamie Benn. The Dallas Star gazed at him in sadness.

“I tried my best.”

“You did, Jamie, you did. You did good,” the Penguin leader spoke. “You got valuable information and you are okay too!”

Jamie finally smiled and nodded.

Jonathan stood up from the bed and walked forward. He did something that was sudden and perplexing. He threw his arms around Jamie and hugged him close. He cried into Jamie’s shoulder. “I’m so happy you’re okay!” Jamie hugged him back.

“Jonny, dude, you’re losing it!” Sidney sighed.

“I don’t want to lose anyone!” the Chicago centre let go of the Dallas forward and he turned to the Pittsburgh Penguin, who shook his head.

“Don’t you dare, Jonathan Toews.”

Jonathan ignored him and embraced him now. “Don’t get hurt Sid!!”

Sidney patted him on the back. “Okay, okay...Jonny, we should be putting a plan together and going after Kaner.”

Jonathan jerked back, blinked and then let go of the Pittsburgh Captain at once. “Right, right...sorry, uh...I got--” He blushed with awkwardness and looked away.

Sidney reached out and put a hand on the Blackhawk’s shoulder, cracking a sweet smile. “Don’t say anything. If I were in your shoes, I don’t blame you for losing your head a little bit. But listen to me and to Russell and to everyone here, we’ll find Kaner and save him!”

Jonathan just nodded his head.

“Hey, how about ole Getzy? You gonna give Getzy a hug too?” Ryan joked.

“No. Moment has passed and Sid, Jamie and Russ are right! We need to go find Kaner and kick Avery’s ass!” Jonathan winked and grinned. “Let’s get a plan going. Any other entrances to the building?”

Jamie bit his lip and seemed to search his memory. “Yeah, there was actually one…”

“Well? What? Where?” Russell demanded.

“Uh...it’s um, up the side of the building and to the bells. You know that walkway seen in the cartoon movie Disney made? That.” Jamie gulped nervously.

“Jamie, we can’t scale a building like Spiderman or some superhero!” Jonathan gasped.

“You’re right...which is why we have to go back. I had no time to search for another entrance. I’m sorry, but I suggest that Jonny, Russ and I go back. Sid, you and the others can be backup or so.”

“That’s fine,” Sidney said.

“We’ll be here. We’re here to help out. Call us if you need help!” Patrice stated, dipping his head.

Jonathan smiled. “Thanks. We’ll let you know as soon as possible. In fact, you know what, we should all go, but you guys can hang back. Then we can holler if we need you.”

“Right,” Sidney said. “Bergy and I will come as backup. Getzy and Carey, stay here.”

“Uh, uh, Sid, we’re in this together. We all go!” The Anaheim Ducks Captain snapped, folding his arms over his chest.

“We can’t. Two people can hide, four...that’s a party!” Sidney protested.

“You wanna talk party…” Patrice laughed. “Try doing this with Marchy and Segs together.”

“Okay, that’s a party, if I know Seggy,” Jamie chuckled and then pouted his lip. “I hope he’s okay.”

“Tyler’s a tough kid, he’s fine, now let’s rescue some players!” Patrice reassured with a smile.

“We should refer to our rescue group and mission as “The NHL 7,” eh?” Carey Price spoke up.

“Uh, I’m not a part of the NHL though,” Russell laughed. “And that would be 6, not 7.”

“Russell Wilson, my man, you are apart of the NHL. You’re one of us at the moment. I like it. This is no longer a Dangeruss and Tazer case. We’re the NHL 7 now!” Jonathan remarked, putting his hand on his football player friend’s shoulder, pulling a classic Jonathan Toews style grin and chuckle.

Russell returned it. “Alright. I guess so. I can be a hockey player now, eh?”

“For this moment you are. Let’s go to Notre Dame!” Jonathan exclaimed. “C’mon boys!”

He turned the knob to the room and walked outside. Russell, Jamie, Sidney, Ryan, Carey, and Patrice with him. They walked out of the hotel and headed down the street to the grand Cathedral. Luckily they were staying at a hotel only two blocks away from the place.

They split into their groups. Carey and Ryan hid back, as a third wave, ducking out of sight behind a dumpster. Sidney and Patrice leaned against the wall of a building and acted like two tourists conversing. They winked to Jamie, Russell and Jonathan, who continued. They stormed up to the cathedral.

They darted to the side and went into stealthy-spy mode. The Blackhawk Captain took a deep breath and peered into the window, Jamie pointed out as the one he had looked in prior. Jonathan spotted a bunch of people huddled together and the closest person was the Colorado Avalanche Captain.

“Don’t worry Gabriel, The NHL 7 is here and ready to help,” the Blackhawk whispered.

Then he looked up and saw what Jamie had been talking about. It was at least four stories up and impossible to get to without some wall climbing objects or so. And if they had that, there was the issue of wasting more time. They had to find Patrick Kane and now.

Jonathan contemplated the options. He looked around, his eyes resting momentarily on the water, beside the Notre Dame. Then his eyes shot past Jamie Benn, where he stood, watching him. The Captain of the Blackhawks cocked his head and then started walking forward. He walked over to a partially concealed door in the wall. He tried it and sure enough, it was open. He smiled and turned to Jamie and Russell.

“Secret entrance.”

They followed him inside and they found themselves in the center of a hallway. It was where Michael Crabtree had caught Tyler Seguin earlier. They snuck around and hid behind the columns, heading back towards the front of the complex, making sure to stay out of sight.

When he was sure that the coast was clear, Jonathan slipped out and darted forward. Jamie followed him and Russell was close behind. Soon they came to a closed room and found it unlocked. The Blackhawk leader turned the knob sharply and pushed the door open.

Inside, they found a cluttered room...of Chicago Blackhawk players!

“Jonny!” they all cried.

Jonathan smiled. “That’s right! I’m here to save you all.”

Notes

Jamie Benn!!!! :)
Haha...this makes me think of 101 Dalmatians!! :P
Oh, also....I'm really not sure, but I think Sid's real self is somewhere between this Sid and the Evil Sid I have. Yup. But I think he's maturing still - maybe he's more like a shier, less vocal (debatable) version of Getzy.
Oh well, if this Sid shows up sometime, I'd LOVE him! But....still waiting...

Next up: To Find Kaner and Segs! Or...Try To...

OMG, what a chapter! I was NOT excepting that! That was awesome! Hahaa, I liked Sid giving the signal if the villains were dead or not! XD Oh Sid!
But one thing: Toews has no sisters--he just has a brother, that's all. Patrick's the one who grew up with all the girls! ;)
But awesome job on it! :DD
