13: Wanted

"I wanna call you mine, wanna hold your hand forever... I wanna make you feel wanted..."

Cassidy rolled up to Jamie’s house by one thirty that morning, still in her work uniform; if you really wanted to call it a uniform. As she stepped out of the car, she noticed Jamie was already on the front porch, but instead of calmly waiting for her, he was pacing back and forth. Getting closer, she realized he was on the phone.

“Isn’t there something else you could be worrying about?” Jamie chuckled and stopped pacing once he saw Cassidy strolling up the walkway. He held his hand out to her, pulling her into him, “I don’t know… Is there a syrup shortage in British Columbia?” He leaned in and kissed Cassidy’s lips, moving his only free hand up to her neck. “Alright, cool your jets,” he smiled at her, tilting his head to the side, “I’m always a good boy,” he paused and smirked, “my eyes are on the prize as we speak… I’m sure you’ll find a reason to call me tomorrow… alright, bye Richie.”

Jamie pulled his phone away from his ear, tapped the screen and then slid his phone into his pocket. He then cupped Cassidy’s face in his hands and kissed her again, this time more slowly. “Sorry about that,”

“Is everything okay,” she asked wrapping her arms around his waist. Their height difference made it nearly impossible for her to reach anything above that, as the top of her head just reached the middle of Jamie’s chest.

He nodded and turned toward his house, pushing the front door open and leading her through, “yeah, it was just my agent.”

Cassidy giggled quietly when she saw Jordie and a girl cuddled next to each other on the couch watching a movie. They had a blanket pulled over them but as Cassidy and Jamie passed by to get to the kitchen, she could see the fabric moving as their hands moved beneath the blanket. She clasped her hands around Jamie’s bicep as he shut the swinging kitchen door behind him.

Although he moved to the fridge, and pulled open the door aimlessly, Jamie murmured, “I’m happy you decided not to change out of that little outfit.” He turned back and winked before finally pulling out a shaker bottle already containing a chocolate colored protein drink.

“Well it was this or come to your house naked because I don’t have a change of clothes.”

Jamie smiled as he brought the bottle up to his lips and took a sip, thinking about Cassidy’s comment. “Both options seem equally satisfying.”

Cassidy smiled as her eyes drifted shut, and she brought her hand up to her mouth to yawn. “Can I take a shower? I feel gross,”

He nodded and watched as she disappeared from the kitchen. Moving up the stairs, Cassidy held onto the railing to steady herself as exhaustion kicked in.

Once in the bathroom, she pulled a towel off the shelf and turned on the water, slipping out of her skimpy outfit and stepped into the sleek stall, comforted by the warm water that ran over her tense muscles.

What was meant to be an actual shower, ended up to be just a long soak in the hot water. By the time she wrapped the fluffy towel around her body and secured it in the front, Jamie was already in his bedroom, sitting up against the headboard, flipping through the channels on the TV. She stepped out with her outfit from earlier tonight in her hands and set it on the edge of the bed.

“Do you want clothes or do you just want to cuddle naked?” He offered as he set the remote control down, settling on a golf tournament he had taped.

Cassidy blushed and crossed her arms over her chest nervously, “clothes… but I’m down for cuddling.”

“You can search through the dresser, “ he replied, pointing to the wooden furniture.

She smiled and stepped towards it, crouching down to pull open the bottom drawer. Once she selected the clothes, she walked back into the bathroom, only to reappear minutes later in her new getup.

The look on Jamie’s face was priceless as he blatantly stared at Cassidy as she crawled onto the bed, wearing one of his old Dallas Stars jerseys. It hung loosely against her petite frame as she sat in between his legs with her back against his chest.

“So your agent was a little stressed out?” She mumbled quietly, setting her hands on both of his thighs, running her fingertips down the fabric of his athletic shorts.

Jamie leaned into her neck, pecking her skin softly while he wrapped his arms around her waist, intertwining his fingers in front of her and set his hands in her lap. “Apparently pictures of our last date have gone around, and he was freaking out about the random girl in the photos.” Cassidy bit her lip nervously and Jamie set his cheek down against the top of her head. “I told him you’re not a random girl, and that he’d probably be seeing more photos of you and I together.”

He brought his hands up from her lap and set them on her shoulders, squeezing them gently before getting into a rhythm of a soothing massage. She moaned quietly as her eyes drifted shut once again, feeling the comfort beneath his touch and wanting nothing more than to curl up in his arms.

“Jame…” she waited for a moment, getting lost in the sensation of the massage, “what do you think your parents would think of me? Am I just another girl Jamie Benn would be bringing home?”

“They would love you; no doubt. You would be the best person I have ever brought home, and they would absolutely fall for you, just like I have.”

Cassidy turned in his lap and rest her head against the base of his neck. Jamie then slowly lay down with her beside him, with one leg flung over his waist. She kissed his collarbone delicately and yawned before nestling her head against his chest. “Good. Because my dad practically sees you as the messiah,” she giggled and shut her eyes. “You’re an amazing man, Jamie,” she murmured before eventually drifting off to sleep.

Good one, Cassidy. Scared him right out of his bed. Idiot, idiot, idiot. He fled so fast, he left you in his own home.

She sat up in Jamie’s bed frightfully aware of the fact that she was indeed alone. The sheet lay skewed and disturbed on the bed as if he had left without even bothering to straighten out the blankets. Even the bedroom door was left open, practically inviting and urging her to get out of the house as soon as possible. Cassidy looked at her cell phone, seeing that it was already past ten in the morning. Those long nights at the bar were taking a toll on her.

After standing up, she looked down at what she had fallen asleep in, and shook her head. Classy move. Falling asleep in one of his jerseys… he’ll probably burn it now.

And if that wasn’t enough, when Cassidy tiptoed downstairs to find anyone, even Jordie, the house was empty. She was completely alone in this massive house, wearing an oversized jersey, left behind from carrying on with a man she thought truly liked her. You scared him so far off, he even took his brother out of the picture. When you screw something up, you really screw it up. Cassidy moaned and brought her hand to her forehead, trying to stop her mind from going on these internal rants.

You know, if you could do something right in your life and not be that awkward, shy girl, someone might actually stick around for once. What kind of crazy girl tells a guy that he’s a “good man”? Guys don’t want to be good men, they want to be bad boys; rugged and chiseled. You done fucked up, Cassidy; you done fucked up.

“No, you know what? Jamie is a good guy, and he deserves to know that someone appreciates him for that. That his deeds aren’t going unrecognized and taken for granted,” she murmured to herself, trying to justify the reasons why she told Jamie what she had last night. Even if it did end up with her being left alone in his house.

Face it, he’s probably outside his house, waiting in his car for the moment you leave. This is an easy way to end the relationship. You got clingy, needy, and dependent and he ran for the hills. And you actually thought he approved of that vapid job of yours. Flaunting whatever assets you think you have; you’re crazy. Bad boy Jamie Benn came out to play, and he got what he wanted from you. And now he’s…

The alarm went off as someone entered the front door, pulling Cassidy from her thoughts. She hurried into the kitchen to hide, frantically looking for a way to exit the house before Jamie or Jordie could see her. When she heard footsteps moving up the stairs two at a time, she ran into the living room to gather her purse, and then made for the garage; it was a safer and more discreet way to leave.

Sure she was still in his jersey, but getting her clothes from Jamie’s room wasn’t an option anymore. She’d have to mail the jersey to him… or burn it for him.

“Where are you going?” A voice rang as Cassidy set her hand on the door that led into the garage.

She shut her eyes and paused, taking a deep breath before turning around to face Jamie, who had foiled her attempt to leave. Looking at the man in front of her, a relieved sigh escaped her lips as Jamie’s cheeks were flushed and he held a bouquet of flowers in front of him.

Cassidy swallowed hard, cursing her mind for playing dirty tricks on her. After they stood in front of each other silently for a moment, Jamie held out the flowers to her, stepping closer until she took them from his hands, looking down at the brightly colored array of flowers.

“Do you have to be somewhere?” He rephrased his question, still caught up on the fact that he witnessed Cassidy in the process of leaving his house.

“No,” she answered quickly, her eyes shooting up to his, “I was going to get something from my car. Where were you?”

“Morning skate… there’s a game tonight. Well, and then I stopped to pick up the flowers. Do you like them?” He waited for an answer for just a quick second before continuing, “I didn’t know your favorite so I just picked up the ones with the brightest colors.”

Cassidy smiled, looking back down at the bouquet. She held it up to her nose, taking in the scents of all the different flowers. “Dogwood… that’s my favorite. We had Dogwood trees in the backyard in Nashville. But I love these too,”

She looked up at him again, seeing that he was now closer than before. Just close enough to bend down and kiss her lips gently, sucking on her bottom lip for a quick minute.

“Thank you,” she murmured as Jamie pulled away.

He walked around the counter and bent down to one of the lower cabinets, searching through it before finally pulling out a glass vase. He stood back up, filled it up halfway with water, and set it on the counter, smiling as Cassidy set the flowers in it, rearranging them slightly. “So I was thinking maybe you should leave a change of clothes here or something… you know, since you’re here quite a bit.”

She chewed on the inside of her lip, contemplating what he was saying. So Jamie hadn’t run off, but now he was talking about having her stuff stay at his house… like she’d have a little part of his closet.

“Now would be the time for you to say something,”

“It’s a little fast, don’t you think?” She played with the flower petals, trying to make it seem like she was more nonchalant about the request, even though he was petrified.

“We’ve been together for awhile now. A month or so…”

“And you were on a road trip for half of it.” Cassidy blurted out. She glanced up at Jamie and walked around the island, hopping up onto the counter to be more at Jamie’s height. “It’s easy to get along when you’re miles away. But first you’ll give me some closet space, and then you’ll give me a whole drawer. Then what’ll happen when you decide you don’t like me anymore?”

Jamie chuckled and groaned, moving so that he stood in between Cassidy’s legs, and set his hands on the countertop on either side of her hips. “Has anyone ever told you, you have the uncanny ability to go straight to worse-case scenarios?” He leaned in to kiss her neck playfully, and Cassidy immediately gripped onto his hair. She almost immediately regretted it as his hair was riddled with sweat; a greasy mess.

“I’m just trying to be realistic,”

He played with the end of the jersey as it hung over Cassidy’s legs, his fingers tracing over it carefully. “Let’s suppose the opposite is true; that I do end up giving you a drawer. And after we spend so much time together, I decide you’re the girl I want to marry. And we end up married, raising a family, and growing old together.”

“There’s a problem with that,” she retorted, “I’m not the girl you want to marry.” Jamie flicked his eyes up to look at her questioningly. She then moved her hands from his hair and to his chest, “I’m awkward and timid; and you’re going to marry a beautiful model-esque woman, who’s graceful and elegant, and lives in Canada…”

“So I’m not going to marry you because you’re awkward? And this crazy ass feeling I get in my gut every single time I see you is invalid? Cassidy Knox, you are undoubtedly the most interesting girl I’ve ever met.”

“Yet another reason not to marry me. You don’t need interesting, you need stable.”

Jamie nodded his head slowly and pushed the jersey up to Cassidy’s waist, exposing the fact that she’d gone the entire night without underwear. But seemingly, he was already aware of that fact, because he made no notion to suggest otherwise. He pulled her off of the counter and sat on the floor with his back against the refrigerator and Cassidy in front of him. One hand wrapped around the back of her knee as the other snaked in between her thighs, teasing her soft skin.

“What are you doing?” she mumbled looking downward, her hair falling into her line of vision.

“Trying to change your mind. I’m going to marry you one day, and I’m going to spend the rest of my life trying to show you that you’re good enough.”

He pushed her legs apart until she stood, straddling his legs. With one hand he pushed the jersey up, before leaning in, pressing his lips to her wet core. He opened his mouth around her slit, instantly causing her mouth to drop open and the air leave her lungs. She gasped for her next breath as his tongue slid over her throbbing lips.

Cassidy tangled her fingers back into his hair, disregarding the fact that it was slick from his sweat. Her hips moved forward as Jamie closed his mouth around her clit, sucking on it while his tongue flicked over, causing her fingers to grasp onto the ends of his hair. As she still watched him, she gathered her hair to one side, holding it firmly with her free hand, making sure not to miss a moment of what Jamie was doing.

She grind her hips onto his mouth and rolled her hips along him as his tongue rimmed her tight entrance while his lips stimulated her swollen sensitive spot. With each of his motions, she felt herself flinch, and as his tongue slipped inside of her, she cried out in pleasure.

Between the curl of his tongue and the rough movement of his lips over her clit, it wasn’t long before she reached her climax. She yanked at his hair and when her body went stiff, she set her hands against the stainless steel refrigerator to steady herself. Jamie leaned his head back on the refrigerator door, smiling at the result as the white liquid dripped out of Cassidy’s slit and moved down her inner thighs. She was panting heavily, relying on the refrigerator to keep her from toppling over. Jamie leaned in and brought his lips to her thighs, kissing and taking in traces of her orgasm.

After returning her breathing mostly to normal, she dropped to his lap, working on his pants, fumbling with the button in every effort to pull them down and return the pleasure. She groaned out in frustration at her inability to undo his pants in her haste, and in trying to start the process over, Jamie grabbed her hands, held them still and kissed her lips quickly.

“Cass, stop.” When she pulled away and looked at him worriedly, Jamie shook his head and set his hands on either side of her neck, gently holding her still. “I want you, but not like this. Not because you think you owe me something in return.” He paused and kissed her lips slowly, “you are a model-esque woman, Cassidy Knox. And one day I’m going to prove you wrong, and marry you.”

She was quiet for a moment, interrogating his eyes as he stared at her with a slight grin on his face. “Don’t make promises you can’t keep,”
