Forever and Always

Uncomfortable Situations

It had been two weeks since Tyson Barrie had arrived in Markham, and it didn't look like he was going to leave anytime soon. Madeline stared at him from across the weight room. His pale skin glistening in the distance. Sweat dripping off his Colorado Avalanche shirt. Madeline was spotting John Tavares as she kept staring at Tyson in a trance. "Madeline, Mads, 91!" She kept staring until John screamed bloody murder and she snapped out of it just in time to help him lift the bar and put it back into place.

"Seriously Madeline! I could of hurt myself!" John cursed under his breath as he got up and walked over to another machine in their circuit training. Why did they have to have the same training schedule? There were about 30 of them training together, NHL, AHL, College and Minor Pro hockey players. Gary Roberts their famous trainer broke them up into groups of 10. These would be the groups they would be in for the remainder of the summer. They would train outside, in the gym and on the ice together. And practiced rotating every one in when they would scrimmage with the other two groups. Her group consisted of Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, herself, Cody Hodgson, John Tavares, Michael Del Zotto, Steven Stamkos, her brother Jack, Alex Pietranglo and Tyson. She loved their group. Other then the little threesome clique that Tyson had surrounded himself in. Tyler, Jamie and himself. They giggled and gossiped like schoolgirls, and hemmed and hawed when they were separated into little groups. They were literally children. And she despised them.

She sat down on the weight room floor, pulled her long light brown hair into a ponytail and took a swig of her smart water. “So are we going to talk about who you’re staring at?” Alex sat down next to her and grabbed her water bottle from her hand water fountaining it. “Do you ever feel like you don’t know a person you thought you knew so well?” Alex nodded. “Yeah I’ve felt like that over the years. Especially with Michael the last few weeks. He went from being slightly over obsessed with hot girls to nothing, solitude. It’s weird. Michael without a barrage of hot girls is not MDZ.” She nodded. “I dated him Alex. I thought he was a good person. I thought I knew who he was. I gave him something I wish I could take back. He has a piece of me and I wish he didn’t.” She was referring to her virginity and Alex caught on. “Your number is three. And all three guys are somewhere in this training facility. You could of done worse. Look at that rock on your finger. You could of done much worse MG. You have to let the past be the past and move on.”

With that Alex took one more sip of her water and jumped up to do another machine. He was working on trying to enhance his speed on the ice. “Stop staring Gilmore, it’s impolite.” Tyson screeched, as she zipped out of her trance in a heartbeat. “I wasn’t staring, I zoned out. It’s hot in here.” She repeated quickly as she fixed her Nike shorts and went over to Stammer and Tavares. “You guys are supposed to be my close friends. How did you ever let me date that bastard?” She asked them. They both looked at her and laughed. “When Madeline Gilmore has a thought in her head. An idea. No one stops her. No one could get you off the Tyson train, only you. And thankfully you did.” Stammer was right. She was stubborn and hard headed. Just like her mother.
“You do know he’s living off you being uncomfortable and girlish in his presence. It makes him feel like you still want him.” John said interrupting her thought. He was also right. She couldn’t let him get under her skin.

“I logged my hours. I am done for the day. See you tomorrow.” She brought her workout sheet filled with all the various workouts, reps and hours she logged in the gym that day and brought it over to one Gary’s trainers watching over them. “Improving Gilmore. Excellent. The Maple Leafs are happy with your progress this summer.” She smiled at herself. Her head was in the game, and with Tyson breathing down her neck she was working harder then ever before. “Thanks.” She smiled at the trainer as she grabbed her phone, and water bottle and headed for the door.

Once she had a grasp on the sliding door looking out onto the ice where she could see Morgan’s blonde hair sticking out of his helmet she felt a hand on her shoulder. “Wait up.” She knew that voice, and with that she cringed. “What Tyson?” She turned around. “Dinner at my place tonight? Just a couple old friends catching up. I promise nothing more, nothing less.” She wanted to throw up. But if that got him off her and Aaron’s backs for a while, and shut him up she would do it. “I go to your place tonight and you leave me and Aaron alone for the remainder of your visit to Markham.” She stated. He nodded. “See you tonight.” With that she slid the door open, walked out and waved to Aaron as he waved back. She smiled brightly. She was getting Tyson out of their lives tonight.
