Goodbye Girl

14/25

Emily sat at the island in the kitchen. A door opened and Marshall took off from under her feet. She shook her head while she drank some coffee. She continued to read over some things for work. She was distracted by Tyler getting Marshall riled up.

"I just got him to calm down from me waking up." She growled.

"He's my dog. I do what I want." Tyler sassed back, opening the fridge. "What are you making me for breakfast?" He grinned at her.

"Absolutely nothing." She scoffed, not shifting her eyes off the papers in front of her.

"Really? Not even after my solid three games?" He pestered.

"Two points in three games, not what we got you for." She shook her head. She looked up with a smirk and saw him glaring. "I'm kidding! But you're still not getting breakfast."

Tyler whined. He pouted at Emily before his eyes shifted to the doorway. His hand pointed towards it while his brows furrowed in confusion.

"Jamie doesn't have long blonde hair, right?" Tyler spoke.

"I don't think so." Emily cocked a brow.

Marshall ran into the living room and Tyler followed. Emily followed behind him. They both held back laughs at the sight in front of them. A tall, blonde petting Marshall. She looked up and spotted a smirking Tyler and Emily peeking over his shoulder.

She examined the girl. She was tall and blonde. She had jeans and a blue t-shirt on. She didn't look like someone Jamie would've met in a bar. Emily was instantly curious.

"Hi." The blonde greeted.

"Hello." Tyler grinned. "Did you have a nice stay at Chez Benn?"

Emily whacked his chest when she saw the girl's confused reaction. "I don't mean to be rude, but how did you meet Jamie?" She spoke up.

The blonde's eyes shifted behind the pair to Jamie who was coming down the stairs. He saw his roommates harassing her and let out a groan.

"Not what it looks like." He called. Tyler and Emily spun around. "She's Jord's girlfriend. This is Bella."

"Woah, isn't that shady to do to your brother?" Tyler gasped. Jamie shoved him. "Wait, Jordie has a girl and didn't tell me?"

"Would you want me to know?" Emily asked him, looking up at him.

Bella chuckled. Tyler and Emily began to argue. Jamie sighed, walking over to her. He stepped over Marshall who had decided to sit right in front of her.

"If Emily and her boyfriend ever piss you off, you're more than welcome to come stay with Jord and I." Bella offered.

He laughed out loud. "That's not Em's boyfriend. He's on the team." He explained. "That's Seguin."

"That's embarrassing." She sighed, shaking her head. "He just looks at her like," She stopped, staring at Tyler and Emily. "I don't know how to word it, but he looks at her differently."

Jamie looked over. He could see it. Tyler gazed at Emily. It wasn't like the look Tyler had given to girls he'd talked to at the clubs. The look they got was more cocky, like he knew he could fuck them and get on with his life afterwards. The look he gave Em was so much more passionate.

"He looks like he wants to kiss her." Bella cut Jamie from his observation.

"He does." He nodded.

"Well, good luck with that. We'll be in touch." She smiled before leaving the house.

Emily broke away from her argument with Tyler when she heard the door close. She looked at Jamie who was shaking his head. She glared. Tyler noticed Jamie's action.

"What's that for?" Tyler asked.

"Bell thinks you and Em are dating." He laughed.

"Tell 'Bell' she's mistaken." Emily hissed.

Jamie dropped on the couch. "Hey, if I didn't know, I would've thought the same thing too." He smirked.

"Why's that?" Tyler cocked a brow.

"You argue like a married couple." Jamie stated.

"Because she drives me insane." Tyler explained, sitting down on the opposite side of the couch from Jamie.

"So be it if she thinks we're dating." Emily said, shrugging while she walked into the kitchen.

Tyler stared at Jamie who obviously had more to say. He saw Jamie glance at him but continue to stay quiet. They sat in silence. Tyler shook his foot while he waited for something to come from Jamie. Jamie kicked his foot to stop him.

"Why are you so quiet?" Tyler questioned him. Jamie shook his head. "Tell me."

Jamie rolled his eyes. "I just realized something new about you." He said, nonchalantly.

"About me?" Tyler repeated and Jamie nodded. "And that is?"

"Nothing, really, just that you're into Emily." Jamie explained.

"You think I'm into E," Tyler lowered his voice. "You think I'm into Emily? Are you insane?" He almost whispered.

"I noticed it earlier when Bella thought you two were dating." Jamie laughed at his friends reaction.

Tyler sat up. "I'm not into Emily." He defended.

"The way you look at her isn't helping you right now." Jamie sang.

"What do you mean 'the way I look at her'?" Tyler yelped. Jamie let out a laugh. "I'm about two seconds away from punching you in your fucking head."

"You just gaze at her." Jamie mocked.

Tyler sat, angry. He didn't have a thing for Emily. He didn't understand why Jamie was on his ass about it. He looked back to Jamie. He was just about to speak but was cut off.

"I don't care if you dig her, Ty, just don't be a little prick to her like James and I won't have a problem with it." Jamie told him. "Maybe you're not into her and I'm just being an asshole, but don't you be an asshole because you can't admit to your feelings."

Tyler stared at Jamie for a moment. He let out a sigh while he ran a hand through his hair. Hearing that had entirely changed his previous thoughts. He didn't think he was into Emily, but he knew it drove him insane to see her with James. It drove him insane to see her interact with any guy that wasn't him.

He let out a growl. "I think I am but I'm not one for rejection." He admitted, rubbing his face.

"The first step is acceptance so we've made progress." Jamie stated. Tyler pulled his hands away from his face to glare at him. "Man, if you wanna go for her, just drop hints."

"I cannot fucking believe I'm getting advice on girls from you." Tyler laughed.

"If I ever need tips on how to fuck a girl until she has cum flying out of her nostrils, I'll talk to you." Jamie reassured him.

Emily walked into the room just as that was said. "Wow, morbid." She said, sitting between the two guys.

Marshall sat at her feet. She had brought in a bowl of cereal. Marshall looked up at the bowl with puppy dog eyes. Jamie looked at him, letting out a laugh. He tilted his head at Jamie but returned his attention to Emily. Jamie texted Tyler.

The way Marsh's looking at Em's food is the same way you look at Em

Tyler glared in Jamie's direction. He held back a laugh. Emily ate her cereal, completely unaware of what was happening around her. She looked up at Jamie who was smiling. She raised an eyebrow before looking over to Tyler who's eyes were on the TV. He looked over at her and copied her expression.

"What did I just miss?" She asked him.

"Nothing, Em. Just Jamie being an idiot." He explained.

"What?" She looked over to Jamie.

He shrugged his shoulders while he moved his hand in a gesture. "Just teasing Tyler for being into some girl."

Emily's head shot back to Tyler faster than he could shoot Jamie a glare. He frowned at Emily before he threw his head back. She placed her bowl on the coffee table before sitting back down on the couch. She turned her body towards Tyler, sitting with her legs criss-crossed.

She smiled at him. "Who is she?" She cooed.

Tyler let out a groan. "I don't wanna talk about it!" He whined.

"C'mon, Ty." She tried to pry, grabbing his hand with both of hers.

"No, Em." He sighed.

"So Jamie gets to know but I don't?" She crossed her arms and pouted.

"You're twenty four and currently pouting at me because I won't tell you about some girl I may be into?" He questioned.

"Yes! We're roomies and best friends and you won't tell me." She hissed.

"I mucked up somewhere if I got myself stuck with being best friends with you." He shook his head.

She whacked his chest, frowning at him. She crossed her arms and sat properly on the couch. Jamie was laughing at what Tyler had said. She glared at him.

"Shut up!" She yelled, punching him.

Jamie tried to block it. "Fuck, Emily! Stop hitting people!" He begged.

"Stop being assholes!" She shouted.

Tyler smirked at her. She was pouting like a child. He knew she was actually mad that he wouldn't tell her about the girl he was into. The reason being, it was her, but she didn't need to know that.

"I'll make you a deal," He spoke. She looked at him. "I'll tell you one thing about her."

Emily's face lit up. She looked up, thinking of her one questions. She thought of an ultimatum. She turned back to him and held up two fingers. He rolled his eyes but nodded.

"Okay, number one, how old is she?" Emily asked.

"A couple years older than me." He stated. She gave him a look as if she was asking for more. "Like your age. Not near thirty."

She nodded, satisfied with his answer. "And number two, is she prettier than me?" The smirk in her tone was evident.

Tyler chuckled lightly. "No girl is prettier than you, Emily." He said.

"Good answer." She warned.

He grinned. Jamie watched the two. If Emily wasn't as just as into Tyler as he was into her, Jamie would be shocked. He'd seen her first hand with James when they were together and happy. He could also see how she was with Tyler. It looked the same to him.

Emily stood, grabbing her bowl. She walked into the kitchen. Marshall jolted up and followed behind her. Tyler looked to Jamie. He saw that Jamie was smirking.

"Fuck, what now?" He growled.

"'No girl is prettier than you.'" Jamie taunted.

"Up yours." Tyler hissed.
