Goodbye Girl

15/25

"Easy, big boy." A familiar voice cooed as James downed a dark liquid.

He spun around from the bar and saw Autumn standing behind him. He smiled, pulling her into a hug. He spotted the blonde eyeing him. Beside her stood a blonde, nearly brunette, who was heavily typing on her phone. The licked her lips at him as he pulled away from Amber.

She turned and yanked the girl towards them. "This is Alex, my roommate and Leigh, my best friend." Amber introduced her.
Leigh waved but didn't look up. Alex stared him down.

"Pleasure to meet you, Alex." He offered his hand.

She shook it, continuing to eye him. "Amber never told me how handsome you were." She smiled.

James looked at Amber. She was looking at him with an expression that looked close to disgust. He cocked a brow at her. "I mean, he's alright." She shrugged.

He rolled his eyes. "Shut up." He laughed.

She smiled at him. James looked back at Alex who's eyes hadn't left him. He held his glass up, gesturing to getting her a drink. She nodded. Amber stood to the side while her two friends got to know each other. A hand pressed to the small of her back.

"Did ya get ditched?" Sid whispered to her.

She looked over her shoulder and saw his wide frame. "Yeah. James already picked up my roommate." She chuckled. "It's just Leigh and I now."

Leigh and Sidney knew each other. They exchange smiles before Leigh went back to her phone. Sidney cocked a brow at Amberwho mouthed the word 'boyfriend' to him.

"I'll get you two a drink and then you can come drink with the big boys in VIP." He grinned, brushing past them.

Sidney jumped a little when he felt hands grasp his butt. He glanced behind him and saw a giggling Amber. He shook his head with a laugh while he told the bartender what he needed. Once receiving the beers he ordered, he turned to face his friend.

"What was that grope for?" He asked.

"Sid, you have an unreal ass. I couldn't keep it back." She explained while they started heading to the VIP.

"It's just an ass?" He said in confusion.

"A nice ass!" She exclaimed.

Leigh's eyes trailed over Sidney's body while she walked behind him on the stairs. "And your thighs, holy fuck."

"You're making this so weird." He laughed as they got to where the rest of the team was.

"That's all we're good at." Amber shrugged.

James and Alex sat at the bar. Anytime she asked about his career, he'd go into detail about something to do with his game, injury, or team, she looked completely stunned. He wasn't expecting a relationship with this girl, but he was planning on fucking her tonight. A good fuck was long overdue for him.

"So, how'd you meet Amber?" He changed the topic from hockey.

"Oh, we had an English class together! We just really hit it off. It probably helped that I was sleeping with her boyfriend's best friend so we spent some time together." Alex giggled.

"She has a boyfriend and he's okay with her coming out with a team of hockey players?" He questioned.

"Oh, no. They broke up a while ago. He was," She paused and looked down at her lap. "He's gone. He's out of her life."

He could tell there was more to the story by the way she reacted to his question. He waited for her to look back up. When she did, she was frowning.

"Did he d,"

"No! They just had a bad break up." She cleared up. James nodded in understanding. "Amber's been through a lot in the last few years that no one should have to go through, especially not her. She's really great."

"This is only my second time really meeting her, but she does seem like a lot of fun." He agreed.

Silence fell amongst them. Alex felt uncomfortable over James's concern for Amber. She was close to saying something along the lines of 'if you love her so much, why don't you marry her?' but she was also really hoping to fuck his brains out tonight. She looked up and saw the heavy stare he had on her.

"Do you wanna dance?" She suggested, her eyes lighting up in hope.

"Whatever you want, babe." He said, his voice sound rustic.

Amber sat between Sidney and Leigh, her fifth beer in. Leigh had finally put her phone away, after finally shutting her boyfriend up. Amber drank her beer, looking past Geno and Beau who were sitting beside Leigh. She saw Alex's, all-too-familiar, red dress in the middle of the dance floor. James was dancing alongside her, but it was evident that he didn't know how to dance.

"Leigh," She called. Her friend leaned into her. "Alex got James on the dance floor."

"Oh no, poor fucker." Leigh laughed. Amber pointed to them on the dance floor. "He looks ridiculous."

"Do we save him?" Sidney leaned in.

"Fuck, Lazy." Geno butt in. "He ditch Leigh and Amber, he get stuck with crazy, dancer girl."

The way he said 'Amber' sounded more like 'Ombur'. She laughed at his pronunciation. She tapped his cheek, causing him to grin as he turned back to Beau. A club version of 'Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor' began to play.

"I fucking love this song!" Amber and Beau shouted in sync.

They leaned forward to look at each other. Beau shot up and extended his hand to Amber. She took it before they ran down to the dance floor. They started hopping around, looking like complete assholes. James and Alex laughed at the two.

"Oh, fuck, I told James you'd be down here." Alex said to Amber.

Amber grabbed her hands, dancing with her. Alex pulled away, so Amber grabbed onto James. He shook his head at her, spinning her back to Beau. The song ended at all four went back to VIP.

Leigh had be jammed between Sidney and Geno while they argued. She sat, laughing at the argument. James sat beside Geno to join in with Beau sitting beside him. Amber and Alex found a spot on the couch across from them. They watched as Geno sat, looking completely content.

James shook his head. "You can't fucking fight with him because you can't fucking understand him!" He growled.

"No, I'm just win." Geno argued.

"Okay, you're both right. Take a shot and stop arguing." Sidney leaned forward to grab a shot.

"Whatever you say, Captain." Beau piped up, grabbing a shot.

"Sunshine want to play with big boys." Geno teased.

"You mean the big boys are tryna play like Sunshine." He corrected before the four men downed their shot.

"I can't believe that was just said." Leigh sighed, shaking her head.

"Listen, Princess, go back to texting your little college hockey boyfriend and let me say what I need to say." Beau growled.

"You've played four games in the last ten and you're minus two in that total four. My boyfriend hasn't been minus two since he was a kid." She snapped back.

"Because he's never left the bench." Amber butted in. Leigh glared at her. "You set that up!"

Leigh rolled her eyes, smiling a bit. Beau leaned forward to catch her eye. He grinned at her and she shook her head while laughing. Amber watched the exchange before looking at Alex. Her eyes were locked on something across the room. Amber looked and saw James staring at her friend with dark eyes. She stood up then walked over to him. He looked up as she approached.

"Go sit with her." She nodded towards Alex.

James stood up, squeezing Amber's hand as he walked over. She sat between Geno and Beau. Geno's arm slumped over her shoulders.

"Amber my date tonight." He smiled.

"What if I wanted her to be mine?" Beau questioned.

"What if I was the one who invited her?" Sidney interrupted. He grabbed Amger's hand. "If G's fat ass would move down, she could sit with Leigh and I."

Amber stood, still in Sidney's grasp while Geno scootched towards Beau. She sat between Leigh and Sid.

"Ironic that you called G a fat ass." Leigh said to Sidney.

"I thought I had a nice ass?" He pouted.

"You do, your ass is like fat with a 'Ph'." Leigh explained.

"That was disgusting. Please never say that again." Amber begged her.

"I haven't drank in a while. This shit is getting to me." She shook her head, finishing her drink and standing up.

Amber turn to Sidney. His eyes were across the room. She followed his gaze and saw James whispering into Alex's ear. They stood up, walking towards Sid and Amber.

"We're, uh, gonna head out." James explained.

Alex bit her lip. Amber felt nauseous. She knew what that meant and it disgusted her how people could do that. Amber loved sex as much as the next person, but random hook ups with someone you have no interest in were not what she was looking for. He knew they had nothing in common because all James new was hockey, and all Alex knew was how to suck a dick in four different ways. She loved Alex but man, was that girl a slut.

The two waved as the walked away. Leigh came back as they got to the stairs. Her eyes widened and her face turned to a look of disgust. She looked back to Amber who was shaking her head. Leigh sat down beside her. Amber sunk down in her seat.

"I pray to God, they aren't going back to my house." She whined.

"We could go back to your house?" Beau suggested.

Amber gave him a dirty look. "Are you even legal?"

"Yes, are you?" He asked.

"I'm twenty one." She rolled her eyes.

"And I'll be twenty two this month." He pursed his lips.

"You look like a fifteen year old virgin who's too lanky for his own good." She laughed.

"You look like a fifteen year old virgin who's too pudgy for her own good." He stated.

"Pudgy, nice touch." She smirked, sipping her beer.

"Did you just call her fat?" Sid gasped.

"Little bit." Beau shrugged.

"I'm a little bit chunky, it's fine." She laughed.

"Shut the fuck up." Leigh sang.

"You perfect, Amber." Geno chimed.

"I never said I wasn't." She smirked.

They stayed at the club for a few more hours before they decided it was time to go. They all climbed in a cab. It took G home first. He pressed kisses to Amber and Leigh's faces as he said goodbye.

Next was Leigh, she thanked Sidney for inviting her out with Amber. Beau made another comment about her boyfriend and she slammed the door on him. He was next to be dropped off, giving a wave as he walked into his apartment building.

"So, did you have a fun night?" Sidney broke the silence.

"Yeah. Your teammates are fun." She nodded.

"Are you feeling better?" He asked, knowing how she was yesterday.

She took a deep breath. "Yeah, sometimes I just get really caught up in my own thoughts and I ne,"

He pulled her into a hug. "No need to explain." He whispered. "I told you I'd be there with you through the ups and downs, Amber. No questions asked."

"You're a really good friend, Sid." She hugged him back.

Sidney told the driver to take Amber home next instead of him, even though he lived closer. He didn't want to leave Amber alone with her thoughts. He knew how destructive they could become.

The cab came to a halt. Amber opened the door, climbing out. Sidney did too. He pulled Amber in for another hug. They broke apart and she waved as she walked up the stairs to the building doors.

"Call me when you get home." She yelled to Sidney.

He nodded, climbing back into the cab. "Goodnight, Amber."
