Goodbye Girl

5/25

Tyler walked downstairs in the shorts he had worn to bed. He stretched and let out a yawn. He could hear Emily talking to someone, and the voice responding wasn't Jamie's. He walked into the kitchen where she sat with his back to him and her laptop open in front of her.

Emily heard someone approaching her so she looked over her shoulder. "Oh, hey." She greeted Tyler.

He noticed she was on Skype with someone. "Who ya talking to?" He pulled open the fridge to get a bottle of Gatorade.

"James. Wanna say 'hi' when he gets back from the washroom?" She asked.

"Uh, no. I don't want him to see me first thing in the morning." Tyler lied. Emily could tell. "I mean, he's a totally hot hockey star."

"Says the other totally hot hockey star." She rolled her eyes.

"Oh, you think I'm hot?" Tyler smirked.

"Well with those washboard abs, yeah." She smacked his torso.

"Who's that?" James sat back in front of his camera.

"Tyler."

"Oh." James pursed his lips.

Tyler laughed quietly while he walked into the living room. If he didn't hate James before, he definitely did after the stunt at his party. Yeah, Tyler shouldn't have been there but James shouldn't had acted the way he did.

Emily came into the living room and stood in front of Tyler with her arms crossed. He looked up at her, confused.

"What did I do?" He asked nervously.

"Why wouldn't you say 'hi' to James?" She smacked his leg.

"Because that guy's a total dick." Tyler stated.

"What the hell? You've met him once, Tyler!" Emily shouted.

"For starters, I didn't appreciate the way he grabbed your wrist and dragged you away like a rag doll." He stated. She went to defend but he held his hand out to stop her. "And I didn't appreciate the way he spoke to me later on that night."

"He said something to you?" She gasped. Ty nodded. "Oh god, what?"

"It really doesn't matter, I just don't like the guy." He shrugged.

Em grabbed his chin with one hand, holding it tightly. "You better fucking tell me what he said." She hissed.

"He said that I better not try anything with you because you're his." Tyler said, taking a deep breath. "And I told him we were just friends and he told me not to cross any boundaries or he'd end my career."

"I'm gonna kill him." She growled, letting go of his face. "I'm gonna end his fucking life."

Emily stood in place for a moment before storming out of the room. Tyler followed behind her.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm going to call him and tell him to fuck off." She explained.

"Emily, no." Tyler growled, reaching out for her hand.

She brushed him off and ran up the stairs. He chased her to her room where she slammed the door in his face. He threw it open and tackled her to her bed. Their chest were pressed together. Emily glared up at him.

"I don't need him going for a shitty leg hit or something when we meet that could end my career." Tyler breathed heavily. "Calling him and telling him I told you everything is not going to help me avoid that. Just let it slide."

"Fine." She breathed out. He stood up. "Why does he care so much if you and I were to be a thing?"

Tyler shrugged. "The guy loves you."

"He'd want me happy if he loved me." She shot back.

"Aw, are you telling me that I'd make you happy?" He cooed. Em rolled her eyes. "Does little Emily have a crush on me?"

"No!" She yelled. "I just mean, what if it's not just you he'll do this with? What if anyone I go for gets harassed by him?"

"Talk to him about it."

"I did and I thought he came to his senses but apparently not." She sighed.

Tyler looked at her staring at the ground before he sat down beside her. "Gather round and let Tyler tell you a story." He wrapped an arm around her shoulder, pulling her into him. She leaned into him. "There's an old tale that goes along the lines of 'guys are fucking idiots' and it's said to be true."

Emily laughed and slid her arms around his waist. "You're a good friend, Ty."

"Uh, according to Neal, I'm your boyfriend." He said, wrapping his other arm around her shoulders.

"Well, you're a pretty good boyfriend too." She shoved him.

"I hope you know, Em, I respect any decisions you make. I know you're a smart girl." He explained. "Plus, I really value our friendship."

She smiled at the ground. Emily really appreciated Tyler. He'd been nothing but good to her since he came to Dallas. He was friendly to everyone, fun to be around, and an overall great guy. He never made her feel the way James did. James was friendly... to her, sometimes. He was fun to be around when he wasn't drunk or in a shitty mood.

She knew the difference between the two was that Tyler wouldn't make her feel bad for any decision she made whereas James would talk her choice down to the point where she regretted it.

Emily looked up and Tyler was watching her. "Don't you mean relationship?" She smirked.

"Oh, right. I forgot someone else decided we were dating." He laughed, laying back on her bed. Silence fell over them before Tyler sat back up. "Don't feel like you can't bring guys home just because I'm here, or because Shit For Brains next door." He referred to Jamie.

"I would if I had someone to bring home." She laughed.

"Hey, I'm always here if you need a fix." He teased, nudging her.

"Or me." Jamie's voice interrupted.

Emily and Tyler looked to the door. Jamie stood, he had a grey suit on and a grin. She cocked a brow at him before walking towards him. She picked up his tie, holding it up. He smiled and lifted her in a hug.

"Why so excited?" Emily asked, completely aware of what had happened.

"Don't play dumb. I know it was all you." He chimed then placed her feet on the ground. "Thank you so much." He kissed her forehead.

"What's going on?" Tyler approached the two.

"Jamie, tell your teammate what has happened." Em grinned.

"Thanks to major talking up by Em, I am the sixth captain of the Dallas Stars Organization." Jamie announced.

Tyler's jaw dropped before he pulled Jamie into a hug. "Congrats, man. You deserve it so much." He said and pulled back from his friend. "So are we going out to celebrate?"

"What are you thinking?" Jamie noticed the smirk on Tyler's face.

"Go to a club, sit VIP, and get bottle service all night?" Tyler suggested.

"Done. Get out so I can get ready." Emily shoved them out of her room.

Tyler and Jamie were ready in no time. All guys wore the same things to clubs, dress shirts and some nice jeans. It was club attire for them. Girls had a wider selection. Tyler had figured this out. Depending on what they planned on doing at the club and who the were going with, they dressed according to that.

When Emily came down in her little black dress, with a neck line almost down to her belly button, and just the curve of her inner breasts, all Tyler was hoping was she was planning to come home with him. He'd never cross that bridge, but seeing a girl with Em's body in a dress like that was too much.

She noticed the two men she shared this apartment with staring at her and a devilish grin took over her face. Jamie stood with an awe-struck look on his face. Tyler stood with his jaw dropped, eyes wandering her body. She laughed as she walked towards them. She had put her hair in big, loose curls and curled them away from her face. She had dark lips and dark eyes. She paired it was a red clutch and heels for accents.

"Can we go?" Emily interrupted the boys' staring.

"I don't think I can handle you in that dress all night." Jamie spoke. "I mean I won't try anything but I may pass out, Em."

She laughed. "Then don't come. I'll celebrate for you." She shrugged.

Her heels clicked as she made her way towards the door, stuffing her belongings into the small clutch. Tyler's eyes glided from her heels up her legs. They were lethal. She kept her head down, causing her lips to look more pouty then they did. She looked over.

"Call a cab?" She suggested.

"Already called." Tyler stated, walking over to her.

She looked up at him before over to the door. She pulled it open and made her way to the elevator. Tyler and Jamie followed her like lost puppies. She froze, spinning around.

"Jamie, lock the door."

He nodded and did as told. He almost ran after Emily once the door was locked. To keep his composure, he settled on a fast walk to the elevator.

The doors opened and a mob of people were standing in it. Emily stepped in, pushing the main floor button before turning towards the door. Tyler stepped in after her. They were chest to chest. Jamie stepped in behind Tyler, frowning because he got the shaft of the deal.

"You look really good, Emily." Tyler whispered.

"I'm feeling good too after the talk we had. It's nice to have a friend like you." She smiled up at him. She pressed her lips to the corner of his mouth. "Thanks, Ty."

He nodded at her with a small smile. She laughed looking at him. He cocked a brow. Before he could say a word, Emily was wiping his mouth.

"I left a lipstick mark. I'm sorry." She chuckled.

"Leave it so I can tell all the guys checking you out that you're mine." He smirked as they walked off the elevator.

"No way!"

They made it outside to the cab. Jamie helped Emily into it before climbing in beside her. Tyler sat in the very back alone. Jamie examined Emily.

"I'm about to go total big brother here." He warned.

"Oh, god." She rolled her eyes.

"You look stunning but the hem line," He flicked where the black material sat on her thigh. She whacked his arm. "And the, uh, neck line, if you can call it that, are a little, racy."

"Good. I like racy. Maybe I'll be in the news." Emily smirked.

Jamie glared at her. She giggled, hugging his arm. Tyler rested his head on his arms on their seat. His face poked between the two. He might have glanced down Emily's shirt when she hugged Jamie, maybe. She sat back up.

"So, what are you trying to do tonight with your dress besides turn heads?" Tyler teased.

"Just that. I feel like getting a little attention." She explained.

"Hey, if you would've walked out in that a week ago, I would've given you plenty of attention." Tyler admitted.

"I'll keep it around, just for you, boyfriend." She smirked, leaning her head against her seat to look up at him.

"What the hell?" Jamie gasped.

Tyler and Emily just laughed as the cab ride continued.
