PK Subban~ Something to be Thankful for

Driving down the road Audrey looked over at her boyfriend that was sitting in the passenger seat. He was looking around at the lake houses as they drove past it.

"How sick would it be to live in one of these. I mean look at that one."

Laughing at him she just continued to drive and turned right down a hill. More amazing looking houses were down the hill and PK's eyes were big and wide as they drove past, he imagined himself in one of those houses on long summer nights with Audrey and the guys.

"Maybe we should get one of these?"

"PK, you are redonk."

"Please stop using that word. It doesn't make you cool."

"I'm on a whole level of cool that you will never be able to able to be at."

She glared over at her boyfriend and he let out laugh. Turning a sharp left Audrey stopped the car and looked in a big green house in the rearview mirror. PK turned his head and looked at the house as well.

"Well, this is it."

"Bae, we've been together for two years. Your family isn't going to ruin this."

"You don't know that."

PK reached across the car and pulled her into his arms and kissed the top of her head. Rubbing her back a bit he closed his eyes and let out a deep breath.

"Nothing is going to do that. Now let's get in there."

"Just to let you know, my grandpa is going to hog you all night."

"I won't let that happen."

Giggling Audrey undid her seatbelt and pushed PK off of her. He did the same and she pulled the keys out and got out of the car. Walking around to the trunk of the Volkswagen Golf she opened it and pulled out three of the the five pies that she had baked the night before. Resting one on her forearm and the other two in her hands, PK came around and grabbed the last two.

"Let see those waitressing skills, bae."

Giggling again she rolled her eyes and started to walk over to her family's lake house. Getting to the door she used her foot to turn the knob and walked in with PK close behind her.

"Knock knock."

She called as her and PK whipped off the bottom of their shoes on the welcome mat. Hearing someone walk towards the entry hall, she let out a deep breath.

"This is it."

She said to herself then her aunt Leslie popped around the corner with a smile on her face.

"Oh, it's so good to see you dearie."

She said walking up to her taking the two pies from her hands then looked back at PK, her eyes growing wide.

"So this is PK."

"Yes, PK this is my aunt Leslie. Aunt Leslie this is PK."

"I'd give you a hug, but my hands are full."

Her aunt said to PK with a laugh. PK smiled and told her it was alright and then she ushered the couple towards the kitchen.

"Someone take these pies."

Leslie called as she entered the kitchen and someone walked over and grabbed the two pies from Leslie then the pie from Audrey. Turning around Audrey grabbed a pie from PK and gave him a look that he rolled his eyes at her.

"Oh, this that Audrey."

Turning back around she saw her grandma walking towards her with her arms out.

"Hi grandma."

Her grandma walked over and gave her hug, making sure she didn't hurt the pie. As her grandma hugged the older woman looked over Audrey's shoulder to see PK standing behind them holding a pie.

"Is this..."

"Here grandma."

Audrey said giving her the pie from her hands and turning around taking PK's pie, giving it to her as well. Standing next to PK she looked up at him for a brief moment before turning to her family in the kitchen who was looking at them, waiting for one of them to say something.

"Guys, this is my boyfriend PK. Bae, this is my family."

PK smiled and said waved. Her grandpa was the first to come up to them and shook PK's hand. Audrey slowly backed away from PK and let the family attack him with hellos. Walking into the dining room/ living room area she saw her cousins and sisters looking at her.

"Audrey!"

Her sister Jill said walking over to her, giving her a hug. She was pasted around the room and finally ended up on the couch next to her cousin Kristy.

"So, PK came in last night?"

Shannon, her sister, asked from the other side of Kristy. Audrey nodded and put her hands in her lap.

"Yeah, he flew in from Philadelphia late last night. They played the Flyers before that. I've been here since Friday."

"Did they win?"

"Yeah. I think it was 4-3 in a shootout."

"So, how is it now that hockey started back up?"

"Does it ever really stop?"

She asked with a little laugh, but Kristy and Shannon gave her a look. Sighing, Audrey gave her family a weak smile.

"I haven't seen PK, in person, since Wednesday. Of course they had to start on a long road trip, right? I guess I'm just being selfish, I pretty much had him to myself all summer. I just have to get back into the groove, you know?"

"I don't know. How you do it."

Shannon said, making Audrey laugh at her sister and shake her head. Knowing that she didn't even know how she does it.

"So, where is your famous boyfriend?"

"Kitchen."

Kristy giggled and hugged her cousin again. Audrey laughed and hugged her back.

"I'm so excited to finally met him."

Audrey rolled her eyes at her cousin. Her whole family had been dying to met PK ever since they first found out she was dating the star Montreal defenceman. She looked over at the kitchen to see him talking with her grandpa about something, but she knew it was hockey. Then she as her sister's step daughter, Ellie walk out of the master bedroom and look over at her.

"Hey, Audrey."

"Hi, Ellie."

She said as she got up and walked over to her, giving her a hug. Ellie maybe 15 years old but she is almost six foot and standing next to her made Audrey feel like a leprechaun.

"What's going on in there?"

Audrey asked pointing to the master bedroom.

"Seahawks game."

"What?"

Audrey said then ran over to the room and saw that her uncle John and brother in law Ken were sitting watching the game. Both men's head turned to look at her and said their hellos. Audrey sat on the bed with her uncle and looked at the TV like the rest of them. It was the started of the third quarter and the Hawks were up by one touchdown over the Cowboys.

"I hear you brought your boyfriend with you."

Ken said from the armchair. Audrey rolled her eyes at her brother in law.

"Yes I did. Now hush."

She said pushing his shoulder with her foot. The three of them sat and watched the game and Ellie soon came back into the room with a can of pop in her hand. She sat on the floor with her back to the bed and watched the game.

"PK is awesome."

She told Audrey from her spot on the floor. Audrey smiled to herself. She was happy that her family was loving PK. She knew that PK would do whatever it took to make her family like him and so far it was going great.

Audrey felt someone else sit on the bed, but she didn't bother to look to see who it was until she felt some drop their head in her lap. Looking down she saw that PK was sitting next to her with his head resting in her lap, looking over at the game. Giggling she shook her hand and put her hand on his head and patted him like a dog. Feeling him laugh and his hand take hers she looked down again and saw him smiling up at her.

"So, everyone likes you so far."

"So far."

He told her with his signature smile. Audrey giggled again and then looked back at the game and watched the rest of the half of the football game.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Sitting at the 'kids' table Audrey looked over at PK's plate that he had dished up and let out a little short laugh.

"What?"

"Your plate is pathetic."

PK's eyes went to hers and his jaw dropped. Her plate was piled with mashed potatoes and stuffing, it was a helping that he would never dream of eating.

"You are insane."

"No, I'm just hungry."

She said grabbing a forkful of mashed potatoes and stuffed it into her mouth.

'Hey, PK."

Looking down the table he saw that Brian, Audrey's cousin Megan's boyfriend had called his name.

"What's up, man?"

"How'd you and Audrey met?"

Rolling her eyes Audrey ate her food and looked down at table at Brian.

"Don't open that can of worms. PK loves telling this story."

PK's eyes lit up and he playfully pushed Audrey.

"It all started when my buddy Carey was getting married last year. Audrey knew Carey and his wife Angela and flew out to Montreal to help with the wedding planning. Being the good friend that I am I would help them out too and we met at a congratulatory dinner. We started talking and I asked her how she knew Carey and Angela and I've never once met her before then."

"Oh yeah, you were quite the charmer."

"Please, you love it. Anyways, she stated in Montreal for a few months to help out then she went back to Calgary. When we were on a road trip over there I called her up and asked her out to dinner. She said yes and that was our first date. But we really didn't start dating till after Carey's wedding. And we've been together ever since."

"How come I have never heard this story!"

Kristy said from the other side of the table. Audrey's face turned beet red at her cousin's words. Looking around the table everyone was loving the story that PK had told. She went to slap his arm but PK took it and kissed the back of her hand. The table 'awed and Audrey turned a deeper shade of red.

"You are unbelieveable."

"And you love it."

"I do. You're right there."

She said then gave him a quick kiss. PK smiled and gave her another quick peck. Giggling Audrey turned back to her food and started to eat again, feeling PK's hand resting on her knee. Smiling down at her food as heard her aunt Leslie say that it was time to say what you were thankful for this year. This is was tradiction that her family had done for as long as she could remember.

"What going on?"

Brian asked the group of cousins.

"We go around one at a time and say what we are thankful for. Shawn made everyone cry last time. I've been thinking about this since last night."

"You can just make it up on the spot. You'll fuck it up."

Kelsey said looking at the other end of the table at Kristy's boyfriend, who was just smiling as girls talked about last Thanksgiving.

"I'm just so thankful for Kristy introducing me to this amazing welcoming family, blah blah blah."

Kristy said making fun of her boyfriend of three years. Shawn rolled his eyes and took another bite of his turkey. Slowly the 'adult' table said their thanks and it came to the 'kids' table. Brian was the first victim. Slowly, it came around to Audrey. Standing up, Audrey looked around the room and held up her beer bottle.

"I'm thankful for my mom. Over at past three years I have come to face many difficult crossroads and I have called you on every single one of those. Without your help I won't be living in Montreal with my amazing boyfriend. Thank you mom."

The room cheered and Audrey took a drink of her beer then sat down and looked over at PK.

"You're up."

He kissed her cheek, then grabbed his beer and stood up.

"Hi, everyone. What I am most thankful for this year is this little lady sitting next to me. Without her I wouldn't be how am I today. You have put up with all of my crap over the last two years. You never cease to amaze me. You, Audrey are the strongest, most talented woman I have ever known. We have been through both incredible and dramatically horrible things together these last two years. And I am thankful for you every single day, Audi."

PK said looking down at her seeing that she was now a deep shade of red and looking down at the table. Smiling, PK grabbed hold of her hand and gave it another kiss. The room 'awed and he could hear a few snorts of family members nose, trying to stop the tears that were in danger of falling.

"Thank you, Audrey."

He said holding up his beer and the room cheered. Sitting down Audrey pulled PK into a kiss. Kissing her back he head her giggle, pulling an inch or two away and smiled at her.

"You again, sir, are unbelieveable. And I love you for it."

"I love you too, Audi."

"PK and Audrey 2015!"

Shannon, Audrey older sister cheered from the other side of the table. The cheer was heard around the room and the couple couldn't help but laugh at Audrey's family.

"2015?"

"More like 20- not so soon."

Audrey said giving him another kiss. PK chuckled and pulled away from Audrey and looked back at his food. Everyone in the room was looking at him and his girlfriend and held smiled.

"That's enough you guys."

Audrey called grabbing hold of her fork again. The eyes of her family left them and she smiled.

"Come on, this family needs more babies. Henderson won't have any cousins till he's 20 at this rate."

Jill said from the other side of the table. Audrey rolled her eyes and took another bite of food. Her nephew, Henderson was Andrea's son. He was now two and almost a half. Out of all of the ten cousins, Andrea was the only one married and had a kid. Andrea was always bring Henderson's old toys to the lake house, trying to drop hints at her cousins and sisters to have babies. So far, the only ones in long term relationships were Jill, Kristy, and Audrey. Jill and Pete have been together for a year, Kristy and Shawn three years, and Audrey and PK for two years. And no babies.

"And what? You and Pete can't have kids?"

"We've only been together for a year and a bit. You guys have been together for two."

"Kristy and Shawn have been together for three! So they have to have kids first."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Who said anything about kids?"

Shawn said looking at his girlfriend's cousins. The two sisters smiled at Shawn then looked back at each other and glared.

"You and PK would make cute as hell kids."

Audrey could feel PK's eyes on her and she shook her head.

"Jill does have a point. How cute would our little milk chocolate kids be running around."

"You are not on her side are you?"

Audrey said flabbergasted, looking over at her boyfriend with wide eyes. He just shrugged his shoulders and took another drink of his beer. PK didn't say anything and Audrey just turned back to her food and didn't say another word to him throughout the rest of the dinner.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

After finally saying their last goodbyes Audrey and PK left the doorway of the lake house and walked across the street to Audrey's green Golf. Audrey walked fast and her hands were deep in her pockets of her light grey pea coat. PK went to wrap his arm around her but she shrugged his arm off of her.

"Audi, come on. You still can't be mad at me."

Turning her head she glared at him, then pulled out the car keys and unlocked the car. Stromming over to the driver's side she got in. Turning the car on she but the car in reverse and backed up, before PK could open his door. She looked through the windshield and glared at him. He gave her a look and went to grab the handle but she backed up again and it was ripped away from PK's grap again.

"Bae!"

Letting out a sigh Audrey took her hand off the wheel and PK got into the car. When he got in PK looked over at her and didn't put on his seatbelt.

"What is wrong?"

"You and Jill were talking about us having kids! PK, we are 23! How in the hell can we have kids!"

"I wasn't being serious. Ever since Larry had his little girl the idea was planted in my mind. I know that we are 23, but I'm not saying that we should have a kid now. But, just think. Maybe three or four years down the road. We could be woken up by a baby crying in their nursery. I mean that doesn't sound like a great idea right now, but we would be a family, and that's what I want. I want to be happy with you by my side."

He said taking her hands in his. Audrey looked at him and let out a sigh, trying to make sure not to let the tears that we welling up behind her eyes to fall.

"PK..."

"I know I am crazy. But I love you, baby."

"I love you, too. It's just too much, you know?"

"I understand. We're young and one day it will all make sense."

"I know. I love you."

"I love you too."

PK said giving her a kiss. Sighing, Audrey smiled and kissed his cheek.

"Let's get going. I'm tired."

Laughing PK pulled away from her and strapped himself into the seat. Audrey fully backed up and drove up the small hill away from her family lake house.

"I liked them."

"Don't worry, they liked you too. They keep asking me to come and visit Montreal all the time. And Haliie keeps asking me to hook her up with Gally or Chucky."

"Are you serious?"

"Yup."

"Haliie was the taller one with long dark hair, right?"

"That's the one."

"She kept hitting on me all night. She kept trying to get to go upstairs with her."

Audrey slammed on the breaks and looked over at PK with a look of shock and anger on her face.

"The bitch did what?"

"Come on, it was not serious. I wouldn't cheat on you, you know that. Plus, on your cousin? I'm not a total dick."

Audrey let out a growl and dropped her foot on the gas pedal again, speeding down the road.

"Audi. Calm down. It's fine. She won't get with me or anyone the guys. And why those two anyways?"

"Are you kidding me? Gally is a beaut. He's such a little shit, but damn is he adorable. Then, Chuck? Holy fuck, he's cut and not to mention a sweetheart. Bae, if I wasn't with you, you could beat you new contract that I would be with one of them."

"Remind me that to never invite those two over ever again."

Audrey laughed and stopped at a stop sighed. Looking over at him she smiled at him and shook her head.

"I love you."

"I love you too, Audi."
