"Oh my god." Dana gasped as she walked into the arena.

Zach had decorated it with lights everywhere. He was standing in the middle of the ice, smiling. She shook her head as she stepped on the ice. He met her halfway as he skated over to her. His arms wrapped around her and he pressed his lips to hers. The lights in the arena were off. The only light in the arena were the ones Zach had hung up. They were around the boards, on top of the glass, and around one net. He took her hand, pulling her over to the net.

"Do you want to shoot or skate around first?" He asked, grabbing onto her waist.

She smiled, holding onto his neck. "Let's just skate for now."

So they did. He lapped her and goofed around. Sure, Dana knew how to skate. Her dad had clearly taught her since he'd been playing since the late seventies. She was good, but she was letting Zach have his fun. He tried to speed past her and she jolted her hip out. He bumped her and spun out of control before falling in front of her. She tripped over him, landing on top of him. They both laughed.

"If you wanted to get close, you could've just asked." He teased, rubbing her back.

She rolled her eyes, pushing herself up. "Put on your shit so I can score on you."

"Don't I need to take things off to score?" He grinned as he stood up.

She shook her head. "Put on your equipment so I can shoot pucks at you." She clarified.

He growled as he skated over to the net. He put on his helmet, glove, and blocker. She grabbed a stick and the bucket of pucks. She skated to centre ice, dumping the pucks. He laughed. There was no way she had the strength to shoot from there. He crossed his arms. Dana rolled her eyes, taking one of the pucks and firing. It hit the back of the net.

"Don't underestimate me, Fucale. We both know who my father is." She spat, crossing her arms on the butt of her stick.

"Let's go." He smacked his glove to his blocker.

They fooled around for a bit. Dana tried some of her dad's moved but Zach was pretty good at reading her. A few slipped by and a few were flukes. She shot one high and it hit him in the mask. He went down. He was perfectly fine, he just wanted Dana to skate over. He heard her mumbling an 'oh my god' before blades on the ice were heard. He heard her stop and dropped down to his side.

"Zach, are you okay?" She frowned, placing a hand on his arm.

"Yeah." He nodded as he shook off his glove and blocker.

His hands went to his helmet. She helped him pull it off. He let out a sigh as he laid on his back. She frowned, squeezing the hand he rested on his stomach.

"Is there anything you need?" She asked.

"One thing," He smiled a bit.

"Anything."

"I need you to kiss me." His smile spread as he reached up and pulled her down to his lips.

The lights flicking on and a long whistle pulled them apart. Zach groaned as he looked over. Mack was smirking in his work clothes. He did work for the arena. He opened the zamboni doors as he walked over to them. He helped Dana to her feet. Zach got up on his own.

"I hope you guys had fun being all cute and lame, but Zach's time is up and it is now open skate." Mack chimed as he let go of Dana's hand. "Now, you're more than welcome to stay for open skate, but you gotta get off the ice so I can get off work as soon as the zamboni is off the ice and spend time with my girl."

"Oh, hot date with Kay?" Dana teased.

"Not hot, considering we're just hanging out here. But it's gonna be special." He breathed.

"A proposal or something?" Zach bumped him as he skated by.

"No." Mack rolled his eyes. "Everything is always special with her."

"Corny is a good look on you, Mackenzie." Dana pinched his cheek.

He shoved her off. The three cleaned up the mess of pucks, took down all the lights, and let the zamboni on the ice. Mack changed after shovelling off the excess snow from the ice. He was nervous. He and Kaylynn didn't really do dates. It wasn't a big one. They were just spending time together before they'd be apart over the holidays, but it meant a lot to Mack.

He walked into the lobby. He saw her sitting on a bench, putting her skates on. He heard chatter and saw the girls coming through the sliding doors. He was not going to lose her to them. He ran over to her, bending down to tie them. She smiled, ruffling his hair. She leaned forward and kissed the top of his head. He smiled at that. Her little gestures always made him smile.

"So how was your day shopping?" He sang as he pulled the laces tight.

She rolled her eyes with a smile. "Good. I finished all my shopping for you."

"I totally forgot to get you something." He gasped, looking up at her. Her face fell. "I'm kidding. I bought your gift months ago."

She shoved him. "Asshole."

He smiled as he stood, pecking her lips. He had his skates on in no time. He took her hand and they walked to the ice together. There was a fair amount of people on the ice. They didn't mind. They just held hands and skated together. It had been a while since Kaylynn had skated, so she was a bit wobbly. Mack helped her out. She got the hang of it eventually.

"Let's make a bet." She smirked.

"Let's hear it." He sighed, turning to face her as he skated backwards.

"Whoever is the slower skater buys the other a hot chocolate." She challenged.

He groaned, pulling her towards him. "How about dinner?"

"You're on, Weegar." She shoved him away. "Jake, you determine the winner."

Jake spun around. He was skating alone. "Okay. From where I'm standing, the first person back here wins." The couple nodded. "And you're off."

Mack was gonna win. He was the hockey player, he was a bit ahead of Kaylynn. He looked back at her trying so hard. He exhaled, slowing as her round a corner. She caught up. He grabbed her hand, trying to pull her back, but she smacked him away. They round the third and final corner and Jake was watching intently. They were neck and neck. Jake stood between the two, extending his arms. Kaylynn on the right, Mack on the left. His right arm was touched first.

"Kaylynn wins." Jake stated and skated off.

Mack furrowed his brows at his teammate before turning to his girlfriend. She was glowing. "Guess I'm the sucker."

"Oh, shut up. You let me win." She crossed her arms.

"No, I haven't played in awhile. I'm slow." He argued, wrapping his arms around her waist. "Where to for dinner?"

"How about just a hot chocolate?" She rested her hands on his face.

They skated off the ice. They changed our of their skates. They decided to go sit in the stands while they drank their hot chocolates. Mack ordered for both of them. He handed Kaylynn hers, holding her hand as he took her up to the stands. People were scattered across them but they found a spot. Kaylynn made a face as she sat. Mack noticed.

"What was that?" He asked as he sat beside her.

"What was what?" She smiled innocently.

"The face."

She sighed. "This is just kinda the same as my first date with Sam." She explained, looking down. "But it's been so much better."

"Why's that?" Mack chuckled.

She looked over at him, smiling. "Because it was with you." She pointed out, sitting up. "Everything's better with you, Mack. You just know how to light up a room. It's my absolute favourite thing about you."

"I think you're the one lighting up those rooms." He admitted, wrapping an arm around her. She cuddled into his side. "And that's your favourite thing about me, huh?"

"What did you expect me to say was?" She looked up at him.

"My hair." He said, as if it was obvious.

She laughed. "I love you, doofus."

"I love you too." He smiled. "That's why I let you win the race."

"I fucking knew it!" She exclaimed as she shot up.
