My Hero

Chapter 5

I awoke suddenly with a giant boom right outside of my window. I lept upright in my bed and looked out the window next to my bed to see streaks of rain falling down the glass. I was freezing in my little pair of shorts and tank top for pajamas- even in Texas.

I walked over to my small sitting area where I threw the clothes that Tyler had gave me and picked up the hoodie. It was a gray zip-up with a small stars logo and the number 91 next to it. I threw it on and slinked back into bed. I clicked my phone to see what the time was (7:27 am) and happened to see a text from Tyler from about a half an hour ago. I quickly unlocked my screen to see what it was.

As pretty as they are, I don't think I'm going to be needing these heels anytime soon.

I smiled and remembered that I had left my heels and dress at his apartment. I quickly texted him back.

Yes I would like those back soon.

Almost instantly he replied.

How about Tomorrow night? I have a game and then after we can go to dinner. I would ask tonight but I already promised the guys I would come over and watch a Texas Rangers game with them tonight.

That sounded good. I was doing nothing on a Monday night except watch some netflix and plan a wedding next July. It was only September and brides were already worrying about their weddings years in advance.

That sounds good. Just text me more info tomorrow morning! Also: baseball fan?

He replied pretty soon: Great i'll see you tomorrow... i will try to grab you a ticket for the Panthers game tomorrow night.. and yes I am a baseball fan. I'll text you later... coach is staring me down as I text this.

I giggled, it sounded like he was in school. I wonder if he got in trouble at practice for it. It was around 7:45 am by then so I decided to go back to sleep and spend the rest of my lazy sunday watching netflix and sleeping.

I rolled up my jetta to the Hoffman Brides office parking lot. It was in a tall office building and took up about a half a floor. I had trained many girls to help me out, and they were all so sweet and great at their jobs. Of course, being a Hoffman herself, I was in charge. I passed Caroline, our sweet secretary/my assistant/ my best friend and she followed me into my office holding a starbucks coffee and sat down in one of the two seats across from my desk.

"Ummmm when were you gonna tell me?" Caroline (carly) shrieked

"What... and don't shriek this early in the morning Carly." I said as I sat down in my big comfy chair and powered on my apple computer.

"Who were you with this weekend?" She smiled like she was going to burst

"I don't know... I was at the Glenn wedding saturday I guessed."

"Holy shit just tell me how you, Sarah Hoffman, went to lunch with Tyler Seguin."

"How did you know about that!" I whispered

"It's on the internet duh.." Carly hopped up to my computer and typed in some horrible gossipy website. She clicked the mouse a couple of times and an article came up and it big letters on top it said "WHO IS TYLER'S NEW GIRL" and underneath was a picture of Tyler holding the door open to the BBQ restaurant and me walking in with my hands in his hoodie wearing his ex-girlfriend's leggings and converse.

I put my face in my hands. "How...what...who" I couldn't make a sentence.

Carly put her arms around me and laughed, "It's not a big deal... You guys are great together... who cares about those people on the stupid internet. Look it doesn't even say your name, just 'Tyler's new girl'."

I groaned.

"Now, you HAVE to tell me, your best friend how you met." Carly spoke with a twinkle in her eyes.

I then went in depth with the whole Doug scenario, Tyler rescuing me, and staying at his apartment.

"Did you.... you know." She smirked.

"no! I was knocked out! Get out of my office and do some work!" I laughed and threw a pen at her as she skipped out of my office. For the rest of the day, Carly kept sending me shirtless pictures of Tyler over email, and I can't deny that I liked it.

At around 3 or so, my iPhone lit up with a text from Tyler.

I never asked if you were bringing someone... do you want two tickets for tonight? Also, is it okay if my teammate Jamie came to dinner. He just broke up with his girlfriend and is pretty down right now.

I looked up at my phone and I could see Carly at her desk outside my office on Google Images looking at Tyler. I called her over by phone and she came running into my office.

"Do you want to go to a Stars game tonight... and dinner afterwords.?" I asked, "Tickets on Tyler!" I smirked.

"Hell yeah!"

I wrote Tyler back with the news.

If you could get two tickets, one for my friend Carly that would be great. And she can come to dinner if you want to cheer up Jamie!

I told Carly the plans of how we will be going to the game and then out to dinner with Jamie and Tyler afterwards.

"Oh my gosh! What should I wear! I'm so excited!" She shrieked. I didn't even know what I was going to wear. The next Hoffman brides wedding wasn't until Friday so I let the whole office go home at four.... maybe because I didn't know what to wear maybe not.

Just when I was packing up my bags to leave, I heard Carly gasp outside of my office.

As I walked out of my office to see what the problem was, I heard a deep male voice saying "Are you carly?" And then Carly stuttering "ye..e..es"

Tyler saw me as soon as I walked out of my office. "Hey!" He smiled, "I brought your dress, heels and the tickets. Also, I brought two jerseys for you guys figuring you didn't have one."

I shook my head. Tyler handed both me and Carly a jersey. They were both so nice, Mine said Seguin on the back and hers said Benn. "This is too nice! I can't.."

"You can and you will! Also, don't worry about dressing nice for dinner, I was thinking maybe an Irish restaurant a little bit away and they couldn't care less if you show up in jeans and a jersey."

"Sounds good. Thanks again Tyler." I exclaimed, still confused that he showed up here.

"Good luck tonight!" Carly yelled as he walked out the door waving back to us without turning around. "Ho-ly shit." she whispered when she saw he had left.

"Agreed Carly." I looked down at the tickets. Of course row 1.
