Prove Me Wrong.

Kieran's POV

Turning 25 is supposed to make you feel old right? Because right now I don’t even want to get out of my bed. My phone has been constantly buzzing with messages and notifications from Facebook, Twitter, and embarrassing photo collages on Instagram since 6 am and not one fiber of my being wants to go to work today. But I know that if I make through my surgery schedule, which is thankfully short today, I get to go out with Jamie tonight. Who speaking of, was the first to wish me happy birthday just barely beating Tyler. They were on a flight home from Detroit and I had gotten texts from them both followed by a snapchat video from the boys singing happy birthday just after midnight.

I spent my time in between surgeries today replying to every notification I received, thanking each person for wishing me a happy birthday. I was in the doctors lounge eating lunch and replying when I got a page to the front desk. As I walked through the glass doors I saw a bouquet of sunflowers on the receptionists desk. I smiled as I approached Carrol, "Happy Birthday Dr. O'Reilly, these beauties are for you." I reached for the card attached to the vase, slipping the paper out of the small envelope I began to read.

*Kier, You have a lot of sunflowers in your apartment so I assumed they were your favorite! :) Happy 25th babe, I can't wait to see you tonight! I've missed you, see you at 7. - Jamie *

I attempted to cover the blush and insanely large smile on my face but it was impossible, Jamie Benn was perfect and there was no doubt about it. Carrol noticed my blush, "I'm going to assume those came from a cute boy and not your parents?" I smiled at her and nodded as I took the vase back to the lounge. Before my break ended I texted Jamie,

*Flowers are beautiful, thank you :) Can't wait to see you!*

Dressing in a navy blue skater dress with lace long sleeves and nude heels I pulled my hair into a bun and donned sapphire and gold earrings. I had no clue where Jamie was taking me, he had been gone for 3 days and wouldn’t give me a hint what we were doing tonight. When he picked me up I couldn’t help but stare at him, sure I saw Jamie in suits weekly but Jamie in khakis and a white button down was even better. "Hi ," was all I could get out when my eyes landed on him, wrapping my arms around him as he pulled me in close.

Roadtrips were getting harder now that there was something going on between us, Marshall wasn't cutting it as a companion. As we walked out of the apartment, our fingers laced together I tried to pry to details of our date out of Jamie. "Please J, just tell me where we're going!" I begged as we approached his truck, he laughed at my childish antics, opening the passenger's side door for me, "Not a chance Doc." he said closing me in the cab. I huffed, he was going to difficult tonight.

We eventually made our way to the edge of the city, to some Italian place that Jordie had suggested. Aside from the Gala this was the first time we had ever gone out together alone, when we went to bars we traveled in packs, this was sure to attract attention from the people of Dallas. Making our way into the restaurant, Jamie's hand rested on my back as we were quickly lead to a table in the back of the restaurant. I ordered red wine and Jamie had water since the boys had a game the following night, there was small talk about their games and my surgeries as we waited for our food. Most of the dinner we just stared at each other, enjoying just being together.

When we finished eating Jamie piped up, "So do you want your present now?" I raised my eyebrows towards him, "I told you not to get me anything Jamie, the flowers were enough." He shrugged and pulled a white box with a red ribbon out of his coat pocket, too big to be a ring thank God. "I don't listen very well" he said handing the box to me, I took it and pulled the ribbon skeptical of what could be inside. When I pulled the top off inside I found a white and gold Michael Kors watch, my eyes widened when I realized it was the one I had been wanting "Oh my god, Babe it's beautiful. How did you know I wanted this one?" His lips curled into a smirk, "I had a little help," I cocked my to the side, "Jess." Of course, Jordie's girlfriend Jess and I had gone shopping one day while the guys were gone and I had stopped myself from buying the watch, deciding the maroon one I had one enough. I laced my fingers with his across the table, "I love it, thank you."

By the time we got back to my apartment, after dinner and a little walk around downtown it was nearing 10:30 and I knew Jamie needed to get home, early morning skate and a tired Captain didn't mix well. Jamie walked me to my door our hands intertwined, stopping in front of my door our eyes locked together, "So how was your birthday?" he asked leaning my body against the door, "Ehh, pretty good.." I let out with fake disappointment, he raised his eyebrows "Just pretty good?" I shrugged and looked into his dark eyes, "I didn't get what I wanted," Catching onto where I was going Jamie leaned his head down, his forehead resting on mine.

"And what did you want Kieran?" Wrapping my arms around his neck I locked my fingers in his hair and pulled his face as close as we get without our lips touching, "Kiss me, Benn." He closed the gap between our lips quickly and I felt my cold lips tingle against Jamie's warm and chapped ones. The kiss was slow and sweet as a first kiss should be, when we pulled away I rested my forehead against his, "Best birthday ever." Jamie let out a chuckle, his hands wrapped around my waist "I'll see you at the game tomorrow right?" I nodded, "Of course, I might have to bust out my #14 jersey I hear he's pretty good." Jamie smiled and placed another kiss on my lips, "Goodnight babe." Opening the door behind me, as I waved him off with a smile on my face that could easily light up New York City "Goodnight Jamie."
