Prove Me Wrong.

Most people spend all day getting ready for New Year's Eve; setting up for parties, pre-gaming to go out with their friends, or partaking in family traditions for a year full of good luck. But with my group of friends, they had a little hockey game to play before we could all celebrate. With the guys at the rink all day long, Lauren and I had plenty of time to catch up on our lives, stress about our futures, and of course pick out our outfits for the nights festivities. Instead of going out to a club where they would be recognized instantly the Stars were having a private party of their own. The guys would be going straight from the game so they had chosen their "best game day suits" to ring in the new year. If only choosing outfits for girls was as easy as it was for guys, not that Jamie didn't have a lot of help matching up his suits.

Lauren and I spent most of the afternoon in my closet, jamming out to embarrassing 2000's rap music and drinking glasses wine. After playing almost 10 rounds of dress up and making my room into a complete nightmare we had our outfits picked out. Tonight Jamie was just going to have to deal with me being a little bit taller because the heals I chose were going to make me about 6'4. With the game starting at 7 we decided to do our hair before the game but would have time to redo our makeup before heading out. Going to a hockey game in club makeup is a little insane and just screams "puck bunny", which is the persona I am trying to avoid. After dressing in our jerseys, a #14 for me of course and Lauren in a brand new #91 jersey courtesy of Mr. Seguin himself we left for the AAC. Having Lauren by myside was the best feeling, I can only hope that after graduation she finds a job in Dallas or at least Ft. Worth.

As the game began the Stars scored goal after goal on the poor Arizona Coyotes. When Jamie scored I stood from my seat with the rest of the crowd, high fiving Lauren and letting out a "Way to go babe!" as he celebrated on the ice with Tyler. When he skated by he winked our direction sending a frenzy of swoons off behind us, I laughed and blew him a kiss. In the middle of the 3rd it was clear that the Stars were taking this one so we left early to go get ready for the night.

As predicted the Stars won 6-0 and we were guaranteed to have a fun night. After getting dressed and putting on our faces Lauren and I took a few pictures uploading them to our Instagram's before taking off for the party in a cab that Jamie had sent for us. By the time we got to the building the Stars had rented most of the players had arrived. I introduced Lauren as we made our way through the crowd of people in search of Jamie and Tyler.

'Jamie's POV'

Tonight was going to be amazing, after all these years I am finally getting to ring in the new year with someone that I love by my side. If only she would just show up, Tyler and I have been searching through the crowd of people for the two girls for the past 20 minutes with no luck. After giving up and we retreated to the bar, knowing Kieran she'd windup there eventually. With my back against the bar, Tyler and I talked about the game, it was a great win we really gave it to the Coyotes. I was in the middle of a sentence when I saw her, she always looks beautiful but tonight there was just something about her that made my heart stop. Her makeup was dark making her blue eyes pop, I was clearly staring at her and she returned my gaze with a smirk on her face, I nudged Tyler to turn around. He took one look at Lauren and Kieran and stood from his chair, "Damn." Was all the kid had to say, and I agreed.

Kieran finally appeared in front of me and I got to take in her whole outfit, short black skirt and a white sweater that cropped above her waist the heels she was wearing made her a little taller than me but I didn't even mind tonight because she looked so damn good. "Nice goal baby," she spoke as she wrapped her arms around my waist, a smile broke out over my face as I took in the smell of her perfume she always smelled like candy, sweet and florally. "Thanks," I said as I pulled her face down to meet mine, when she pulled away I whispered in her ear, "You look really hot babe." She rolled her eyes and giggled as if she didn’t know that she looked good, escaping my arms she moved in front of me to get a drink. The view from behind was almost better than the front.

'Kieran's POV'

Drinks were flowing, dancing was happening, and the photo booth was the main attraction. Each time we went in the pictures got goofier, and our group got larger. Those pictures were going to hold some good memories to kick off the new year! By 11:30 everyone had paired off, I had lost Lauren but I was sure she was in a corner with Cody. We had danced together in the beginning making this feel just like college until Cody and Jamie pulled us away and that was the last time I saw my brunette bestie.

The countdown to the new year was closing in and Jamie hadn't left my side, his arm tightly wrapped around my waist, hand resting on my butt as I leaned into him. It had been a long day for the both of us and I was sure we weren't going to make it past midnight. As the TV began to countdown from 15 I pulled away from Jamie's chest to watch the ball drop. The time ticked down and the partygoers chimed in "5,4,3,2,1" as the ball shattered in Times Square.

I turned quickly as I wrapped my arms around Jamie's neck snaking my fingers through his hair, slotting my lips between his. His arms tightened around my waist as we kissed, pulling back I opened my eyes and looked into his "Happy New Year Jamie." That smile made my heart flutter, his hand reached up to my face, a thumb stroked my cheek. "Happy New Year baby, I love you." The newness of hearing him say that he loved me had yet to wear off, each time I heard the words I couldn’t help but smile like an idiot. I leaned down to kiss him again softly, "I love you too, here's to our year."

Just after 1:30 I was ready to collapse; my feet hurt, I was tipsy but no longer drunk, and all I wanted was to be in my bed preferably with Jamie wrapped around me. After searching the large room I eventually found Jamie sitting on a couch with his brother, he waved me over and I took a seat on his lap. Laying my head in the crook of his neck I yawned, his hand rubbed over my back "You ready to go home Kier?" I nodded and kissed his neck, "Me too, let's get you home sleepyhead."

I stood up and Jamie followed, saying his goodbyes to his teammates as we left. On our way out I found Lauren cuddled up to Cody, I silently thanked God in my head for her not being with Tyler. Those two would have been like fire and gasoline. "Hey we're heading out, are you coming with us? Or…" She looked to Cody, "I think I'm in good hands." Jamie clapped Cody on the shoulder, "Be good Eaks" I wagged my finger between my best friend and my fellow ginger, "Don't do anything I wouldn’t do, see you tomorrow Lo." She blushed as we walked away, a new year means new beginnings for everyone.
