Prove Me Wrong.

Runaway

'Kieran's POV'

It's been 3 days since the Jamie Benn incident. Hopefully these little encounters get less awkward, I would hate for Tyler and I's friendship to interfere with the chemistry he and Jamie have been building off the ice. It was a sunny and VERY hot for October Sunday afternoon so I decided to go for a run to clear my head of all the stress from the past week. Between studying for my boards, working in the practice, trying to forget about Jamie, and taking care of Marshall while Tyler was gone I needed a break.

But running by yourself is no fun so I always take Marshall with me, Tyler gets a calm dog and I get a running buddy it’s a win-win situation. Tyler was at practice when Marshall and I left the complex, running about 2 miles and taking a break at the dog park that Marshall was in love with. Spending time with Tyler's dog assured me that I had chosen the right career path, I loved everything about animals. They were amazing creatures, so loving and forgivable, always there for their owners.

Making our way back to the complex I checked my phone seeing a text from Tyler.

*Sunday dinner at my place? Cowboys play at 6..*

I smiled down at my iPhone, Sunday funday at Tyler's and I didn’t have to cook dinner. Today couldn’t get any better!

*Sounds good, Marshy and I are on our way back*

Once back at the apartment I needed to drop off Marshall and shower before heading back over to Tyler's. My running shorts and sports bra wasn’t exactly appropriate to watch a football game. Assuming only Tyler was in the apartment I skipped the whole knocking thing and walked right in, announcing my presence by undoing Marshall's leash and yelling "Dog delivery" as Marshall took off for the living room. I followed him in and watched as he jumped onto his owners lap, my eyes darted from Tyler to the other figure in the room. Shit, I thought as I processed who it was, Jamie.

His dark eyes darted every which way but into mine, and I knew he was checking me out in my rather skimpy running attire. If he was staying for dinner, the awkward in the room could be cut with a knife. I looked away from Jamie and walked towards the door, "I'm going to change, don’t eat all the food Segs." Tyler laughed, "No promises."

'Jamie's POV'

That's it this girl is trying to kill me. She shows up unannounced, which is apparently normal for her and Tyler's relationship dressed in and outfit that makes it hard for me to look her in the eyes. Her body is perfect, she had to of been an athlete in college. She's at least 6 foot, her legs are strong and go on for days, and her stomach isn't ripped but it's solid and toned. She's got it all, and from the way she's showing it off she knows it. Tyler must notice that I'm lost in a daze because he claps his hands together making me jump and Marshall bark.

"Put your tongue back in your mouth Cap, that's not going to help your case any." I felt my face heat up at his comment, "She's not helping any either. Does she always dress like that?" Tyler laughed heading into the kitchen to get started on dinner, "She played volleyball her whole life, guess she's just used to not wearing much." Volleyball I thought, that makes total sense. While Tyler set off on cooking dinner, I took to the internet to see what I could find on Kieran O'Reilly. People google me all the time, so why couldn't I give it a try?

Immediately after typing her name into the search bar and hitting go I got a ton of hits. Her Facebook, Twitter, and a profile from her senior year of volleyball at Texas A&M, as well as pictures from her Instagram, and a LinkedIn account. I clicked the link to her volleyball stats and was amazed at what I saw. A smiling Kieran appeared on the screen her hair in her signature braid, wearing a red jersey with the number 3 on it. A 6'1 outside hitter from Dallas, TX, she played varsity all 4 years of high school and took her club team to nationals 3 years in a row, all SEC honors her Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year, averaged 6 points per game. She was a beast, and videos proved it. Remind me to never play volleyball with her she'd probably drill me in the face on purpose.

Thanks to Tyler we had a mutual friend on Facebook so I was able to see more of her posts. Her about me revealed that she had in fact been born in Ireland, which explained why her accent sounded different and according to posts on her wall some of her family still lived in Dublin. I also found out that she had an older brother named Kilian who was also a red head and went to A&M. Her family seemed close and they also lived in Dallas. Finding out all of these interesting things about Kieran definitely weren't going to help me stay away from her, they only drew me in more.
