Prove Me Wrong.

Sunday Not So Funday

'Kieran's POV'

Stepping out of the shower I hurried to get dressed, I did not want to miss kickoff! I pulled on a pair of black joggers and a white cowboys tank top, braided my hair to the side and put on my glasses. On the way out the door I grabbed my veterinary medicine boards study book and a pen, and slid my feet into navy blue vans. Without knocking once again, I strolled into to Tyler's apartment finding both he and Jamie in the kitchen. Isn't that a sight? Two hockey players cooking me dinner, aren't I a lucky girl? Making my way to the kitchen counter where Jamie was leaning I decided that tonight was not going to be awkward.

"What's cooking good lookin'?" I asked as I leaned over the counter, Tyler scoffed "Good one, and pasta because that's all I know how to make." Of course, I thought, in the course of the 3 months I'd known Tyler that’s the only thing I had seen him make. I sat my books on the counter with a thud. "Beer, water or Gatorade?" Tyler asked from inside the refrigerator, "Water," I replied as I held up a book "I'm going to attempt to study." Tyler tossed a bottle towards me, "Here you go nerd." I rolled my eyes, "It's Dr. Nerd to you." I said as I took a sip.

'Tyler's POV'

I watched them both during dinner, neither of them making eye contact, both engaging in small talk but not directly with each other. Kieran chased the pasta around her plate and Jamie watched, when he looked down she looked up. I caught her gaze and widened my eyes as to say "What's going on?" She shrugged, Kieran is never like this, she's outgoing and loud, she's never timid. Jamie must have some weird effect on her. I had had enough of the silence.

"Alright that's it." I said causing both of their forks to drop, "Kieran you're hot, and you know it, accept the compliment, move on." Her mouth fell open, "And you," I said turning to Jamie, "Quit walking around on eggshells around her, speak dude she's not going to bite you. Try and be friends. For me?" Jamie ran his fingers through his hair and nodded, he went to speak but was cut off by Kieran as she got out of her chair. "You've got a terrible way with words Segs," she said hitting me on the shoulder as she walked by my seat, "but I agree. Let's start over, what'd you say Jamie?" she finished, approaching my teammate with a smile on her face. He stood, "Sounds good, I'm Jamie." he said sticking out his hand, she shook it "Kieran, it's nice to meet you captain. I think I have one of your jerseys." she spoke with a wink walking into the kitchen.

'Kieran's POV'

As usual after a dinner at Tyler's I loaded the dishwasher, almost 4 months in his apartment and he still could barely get the thing to work without my help. After making sure the kitchen was clean I grabbed another bottle of water and my books before walking into the living room. Tyler had settled on the individual couch while Jamie was at one end of the sectional. I clicked on the lamp on the end table and plopped down on the opposite end of the sectional from Jamie, settling in I cracked open my book as the TV blared the pre-game ceremonies. I quickly lost myself in the depths of my study guide, reading and circling answers page after page. Until I was interrupted by a flying throw pillow, I quickly looked up to see a shit eating grin on Tyler's face and heard Jamie laughing, "What the hell?" I asked staring Tyler down, "Quit geeking out and watch the game. Your concentration face is scaring me." I scoffed and stuck my tongue out at him, closing my book and turning to face the TV.

'Jamie's POV'

Watching Kieran study was one thing, she was poised and concentrated as she circled answers quickly and tapped her pen against her white teeth while she thought. But watching Kieran watch football was a whole other show. I guess growing up in the south automatically makes you football crazy; she screamed, she cursed, hell she even threatened to kick Romo's ass - she took football seriously. I couldn’t help but laugh at her throwing her hands up, "You okay over there?" I asked through my laughs. She glared back at me, "Sorry Benn, I'm not very lady like when I watch sports.. Especially football, it's kinda in my blood." Tyler laughed from his couch, "Yeah right, when are you EVER ladylike?" he asked. She chucked the throw pillow at him drilling him right in the face, "Fuck off Seguin. You're just mad I won't sleep with you." Tyler turned back to the TV, "You're right" he said quiet enough for me to barely hear. At least that was clear, Tyler and Kieran were nothing more than friends, so maybe if I can knock down this "no athletes barrier" she'll give me a chance.

Halftime rolled around and Kieran opened her book again, but this time as I watched her she didn’t look like she wanted to be studying, her eyes were darting from the page to the TV, looking around the room. Until her eyes caught mine, "Jamie?" she asked and snapped out of my daydream. "Huh, yeah?" I asked, busted. "Nothing, you were just zoned out.. On my face" she laughed. I felt my face heat up, "Sorry, just noticed you lost your concentration." She nodded, "Yeah, it's easy to do, sometimes I think I have ADHD"

I laughed, "So, what made you want to be a vet anyway?" She smiled and pointed over to where Tyler was playing with Marshall on the floor, "That's why. I love the way animals make people feel, they're a source of happiness and they need to be kept healthy and happy just like humans." Great, she was really was perfect; beautiful, smart, and a heart of gold, staying away from her was going to be impossible. Talking about animals, I got Kieran to reveal more things about herself, some of which I already knew from creeping on her earlier but it was nice to hear it from her.

Her childhood in Ireland had a lot to do with her love of animals, she grew up riding horses and had 3 dogs that they brought back with them to the States. She told me that her love of football mainly came from her brother Kilian, who had played running back at A&M. She was a fan of the Cowboys by association but she also liked the Colts and the Seahawks, the Seahawks mainly for their colors she said they were "pretty". Everything I learned about Kieran intrigued me, she was so different, almost odd compared to other girls but I liked it. It made her who she was and I was pretty sure I was falling for her.

The game ended and as Kieran was leaving she wished Tyler and I good luck on our roadtrip that we would be leaving for tomorrow afternoon. On her way out Marshall followed her towards the door, she turned and knelt down to the dog "Not today buddy, you're coming with Aunty Kier tomorrow." she spoke softly petting the dogs head, Tyler called Marshall and he trotted over to his owner, "I'll leave his bag on the counter K, thanks again for watching him." She smiled and waved, "Anytime Ty, bye guys good luck! See ya'll Friday right?" We both nodded, and as she closed the door I already couldn’t wait for Friday
