Prove Me Wrong.

Asking all these Questions.

'Kieran's POV'

My last day at the surgery center went well, they all wished me good luck with my future endeavors and got me a goodbye cake. I was definitely going to miss my coworkers I had come to love them all. Especially the receptionist, she was so sweet and was always there when Jamie sent me flowers or came to visit me at work. I was sad that the center didn’t offer me a job, but I understood that they didn’t have room in the salary cap for another full time doctor or surgeon. So I was really hoping that my interview at Hillside would go well.

Hillside Vet Clinic was the quintessential veterinary office. The staff was amazing, the office itself clean, pristine, and decorated adorably it's exactly where I wanted to be. I was ready and excited for my interview with absolutely no nerves, I love my job and I'm good at it and that's exactly what I portrayed to the doctor who was interviewing me.

The man was older and was slowing down his practice while the office itself was becoming more popular, he needed someone with fresh eyes and a love for the field. The doctor and I really hit it off, he too was an Texas A&M grad and I think that really helped me out. He asked about my hobbies, clearly my accent made him ask about my heritage, and he asked why I loved my job. My answer gave me the one last push over the edge, he smiled as I answered closing the folder that contained my resume. "Well, Dr. O'Reilly I think you would do great things here at Hillside. We would be lucky to have you join us."

After one interview he had offered me the job, flat out. I was stunned, "Umm, I- Thank you sir, I would love to work here. There's just one thing I would have to discuss with you." He folded his hands on top of the envelope, "And that is?" I smiled, "The start date, I'm traveling to Ireland in 2 weeks and I won't return until June 1st.." He waved his hand like it was no big deal, "Oh, that sounds amazing, graduation gift I assume?" I nodded, "I think I can handle things around here alone for one more month. The job is yours when you return Kieran."

I think that's when my jaw hit the floor. I had a job, a real job I was officially Dr. Kieran O'Reilly! I stood from the chair shaking the man's hand, "Thank you so much, I am thrilled for this opportunity Dr. Ross." "Welcome to Hillside Dr. O'Reilly." Walking out of the office I felt like I was on cloud 9, I had the job and the freedom to go to Ireland worry free. Sitting in the parking lot of the clinic I dialed Jamie, not even thinking he was at the rink as it was game day.

'Jamie's POV'

Standing in the locker room I had just finished my pre-game interview with Stars TV when my phone started vibrating on the top shelf of my locker. Normally my phone is off completely on game day but this was a big day for both Kieran and I so I left it on. Grabbing the iPhone I looked at the screen, Kieran's face lighting it up. I swiped it open and pressed the phone to my ear, "Hey, how'd it go babe?" Her excited voice rang through the phone so loud I had to pull it away from my ear, "JAMIE!! Babe I got the job, he offered me the job right there and he said I could go to Ireland for all of May and ohmygod."

She was practically screaming, I couldn’t help but laugh at her as Tyler and a few of the other guys looked over at me. "Congrats Kier! That's awesome they'd be stupid not to hire you!" Tyler heard the hire you part and started jumping around, "She got the job?!" he asked and I nodded. The whole locker room erupted in cheers and the few media personnel left in the room looked confused as they crowded around my phone congratulating Kieran. After everyone calmed down I had to tell Kieran goodbye and get back into game mode.

The media however wasn't going to let us all celebrate and not ask questions. "Anyone care to elaborate on the celebration?" a reporter asked and they all looked to me. I gave them all a smile, "That was my girlfriend she just got her dream job as a vet." There were a lot of wows and congratulations and I knew they were going to write something about her online. Hopefully Kieran didn’t freak out about it.

'Kieran's POV'

This day couldn’t have been more perfect. I snagged my dream job, managed to confirm my flight back from Ireland, tell my parents the good news, and skype with my grandparents in Ireland, not to mention the Stars won. THEY WON! Tying the Ducks 2-2 in the series so they would be headed back to California. I sat in the WAGs box during the game as I was dressed for dinner and I always felt weird not wearing a jersey at ice level. Even wearing a dress I supported my team wearing a victory green necklace, I had totally gotten over my fear of my hair clashing with the Stars color.

After all the media was done and I had been congratulated and hugged by almost every team member and coach I finally saw my man. Jamie and I went to dinner at just the two of us which was rare these days but well needed. We were soon going to be apart for months and it was going to suck. We tried not to talk about our impending separation but it was always hanging in the air.

"Babe?" Jamie asked as I was concentrating on my plate, I looked up "Yeah?" "Are you going to be mad if I can't be at your graduation?" I smiled at him, this was going to be my 3rd time walking across that stage it was no longer a big deal. "No, Jamie it's my 3rd time it's not even a big deal anymore." His face fell, "Kier it is a big deal, it's graduation!" He really didn’t understand how this all worked, "Jame, do you know how many ceremonies I have gone through in college?" He shook his head, I didn't think so not many hockey players went to college let alone graduated. "I had my undergrad ceremony, my aggie ring ceremony which was an even bigger deal than the actual graduation, my white coat ceremony, the pinning ceremony, and now this just to get my last piece of paper."

He took a drink of his wine, "None of that made any sense, what's an Aggie ring? And a pinning ceremony?" I took out my phone pulling up a picture of Lauren and I showing off our rings, "This is an Aggie ring, it's an honor to receive one. I'll wear it again for graduation, but I usually only wear it for alumni events." I could see he was still confused, "It's like a class ring, anyway no Jame I won't be mad. I'm sure my mom will take plenty of pictures, it will be fine." I grabbed his hand across the table, "No worries babe, I'll still be Dr. O'Reilly whether you're there or not."

He gave me a forced smile and squeezed my hand, "I love you Kier, I just want to be there for you." God, I loved that man. "I know J, I know. I love you too, and I'd love it if you could be there but I understand." He stood, pulling me up with him "Let's get out of here, we've got some more celebrating to do." He winked and I blushed following him out to the truck.
