Prove Me Wrong.

'Kieran's POV'

Jamie laughed when I told him that Tyler had ruined his own surprise, but I think he was kind of relieved though to not have to lie to me. Friday eventually rolled around and it was the perfect day for a pool party, highs in upper 80's already for the beginning of May and humidity through the roof. Tyler came over to Jamie's early to help set up, putting out extra chairs and tables for food and the "surprise" which I assumed was a cake but Tyler wouldn’t cave on that one. Lauren and Cody eventually showed up together, if he didn’t ask her out soon I was going to kill him for stringing her along.

An hour before everyone else was supposed to arrive Tyler and Cody snuck out to go get the surprise leaving Jamie to start cooking while Lauren and I soaked up the sun. When they returned Lauren and I had to promise not to look as Tyler carried it in, Jamie covered my eyes while Cody shielded Lauren. Tyler counted down from 3 and the boys removed their hands from our eyes, revealing that I was right. On the table sat the cutest cake I had ever seen, it looked like a scrub top with dog treats in the pockets and a stethoscope around the neck. On the board around it was written "Congrats Lauren & Kieran!"

Both of us in aww, we approached the cake studying it "Do you like it?" Tyler asked and we both ran over to hug him. "Yes!! It's perfect, thank you Ty." "What about us?" said Cody, "He did have a little help" added Jamie. Lauren and I looked at each other before letting go of Tyler and running to our men wrapping them in huge hugs. Jamie gave me that dorky grin like he got what he wanted, "Thanks babe," I said leaning up to kiss him "Now get back to the grill!" He rolled his eyes as he walked away so I smacked him on the butt. His head whipped around quickly "Oww!" he yelped patting his backside. I giggled, "Sorry, volleyball probs!" Lauren laughed and high fived me as we danced around in the backyard to the music blaring through the outdoor speakers.

As guests started arriving we all began to mingle the whole team was there so it became more of an end of the season party as well as a grad party. Lauren and I were congratulated constantly as everyone ate, drank, and swam enjoying the beautiful Texas weather. Lauren and I were in the pool sitting on the underwater steps, I was looking around the backyard I had never really noticed how nice Jamie's backyard was before.

"Do you think you'll move in here?" Lauren asked bringing me back to reality and I shrugged, "We haven't talked about it, Knox is going to need a backyard eventually.." She smiled and splashed water at me, "You're going to marry that boy Kiery, he's not letting you go again." I blushed, and my eyes slightly watered under my Ray Bans "I wouldn’t say no.. But not for a while." Lauren shook her head, "Yeah, yeah, yeah but can it be before you're 30? I don’t wanna be an old aunt!" Oh jeez, marriage and kids all in the same conversation, I was out! I stood up, "I'm getting a drink, you want one?" I asked, "Nah, I'm good. Run away from the adult talk Kier, you know you're going to get married and have kids eventually." I kicked her under the water, before stepping out of the pool "Shut it Ashbie."

Mixing a drink I felt arms wrap around my bare stomach and a pair of lips on my cheek. "Hi babe," I cheered pouring sprite into my cup, "Helloooo gorgeous" Jamie drawled out leaving evidence of his alcohol consumption. I turned to face him leaving my drink on the table, wrapping my arms around his neck "Have I told you how much I love you today?" he asked, "I'm afraid you have not, Jamie Benn." He smirked, hugging my waist, "Well then, I love you this mu-" he stopped picking me up in his arms bridal style and walking quickly towards the pool and I knew immediately where this was going.

"Jamie Benn, I swear to God if you throw me in you are not getting any for a week! Remember that I am leaving the country in a week." I could tell he thought about putting me down, "You'll cave, I know it." I scowled at him, "Try me." In one swift throw my body hit the water hard and I was soaked yet again after just getting dry. When my head popped out of the water, I sputtered, spitting the water out of my mouth while glaring at Jamie and Tyler who were standing on the edge laughing. "Asshole" I muttered wiping the water from my eyes, "Love you too babe" Jamie yelled and I shook my head floating on my back away from the two losers.

As the sun dipped down and the party goers dwindled down to just the fab five, we all started to clean up. Even in our semi-tipsy state it had to be done, tomorrow we were all headed for College Station. One last trip to kiss college goodbye for Lauren and I! When all the trash was picked up and the chairs were put back in their proper place Lauren, Cody, and Tyler left all needing to do last minute packing. Leaving just Jamie and I standing in the kitchen, "You weren't serious were you?" asked Jamie as he took a sip of his water. I wagged my eyebrows, "As a heart attack." He took a step closer, "Oh, Come on babe, you know it was funny." I held out my arm placing a hand on his chest keeping him at bay, "Okay fine it was kinda funny, but do you know what's not funny?" He reached for the hand that was placed on his chest, "What's not funny baby?"

I faked a pout, "You never finished telling me how much you love me.." I swear Jamie's smile could light up the sky, and I will never get tired of seeing it. That smile lit up not only his perfect face but also my world. Holding my face between his two giant hands, he spoke slowly "Do you want me to tell you? Or show you?" Tugging my lip between my teeth I gave him my best "seductive face" "Both."

Bringing his face to mine he kissed me in between words, "I love you so much that it hurts to be without you. I love you more than I love hockey, and if I had to choose I'd choose you in a heartbeat. I want to be with you more than I want to breathe. I'm going to love you Kieran Makayla O'Reilly for the rest of my life." God, he was killing me and he was right I would have caved in a week, I smiled at him my eyes a little watery and gave him a wink, "Now show me."
