Jamie POV

Everyone had gone home a while ago but I was still on the ice, still slapping the pucks into the net. There were two places in my life where all my problems disappeared, one was on the ice and the other was when Holly was in my arms. I was so mad last night, I was so tired and so angry and I was still angry.
“Jamie go home man,” Tyler said as he carefully stepped onto the ice.
“Just a couple more minutes” I said letting another shot rip into the net.
“Holly texted me and I checked your phone, she called and texted you too” he said digging his hands into his pockets “why you ignoring her?” he asked and that stung.
“I’m not ignoring her,” I snapped.
“You can think what you want Jamie but I’ve known Holly for a couple years and I’ve never seen her blow off steam and just let go. We lead high stress lives and that’s what we signed up for but our family, sometimes they don’t know what they’re getting in to. Holly knows and she sticks around so maybe you should cut her some slack. I can remember many nights where you went home late and I'm sure Holly worried the whole time.” Tyler said as he turned and walked off the ice. I stood there with my mouth open and in shock.
When I eventually got myself off the ice I walked around in a daze. I showered and got dressed. I sat there looking at my phone for a while. I saw her texts and I knew I should answer but I didn’t want to fight with her again. I wish I could just take back what happened last night but I know we both said things that need to be aired out. I saw that I had missed a call and that there was a voicemail on my phone. I punched in my password and listened to the voicemail.
I was expecting her to be angry, to be yelling at me through the message but she wasn’t. She was crying, she was scared and I didn’t know why. I was scared and my fingers were shaking as I dialed her number. It went straight to voicemail so I called again and again until I could get a hold of myself and dialed Sara’s number instead.
“Jamie?” Sara answered confused.
“Sara is Holly with you?”
“No she’s back at the apartment, what’s wrong?”
“She called me about two hours ago and left a voicemail. She sounded really bad and no she’s not answering her phone,” I said my voice cracking. I was thinking the worst and I couldn’t handle the idea of Holly being hurt.
“Jamie calm down don’t worry. I’m sure she’s fine, she was sick this morning so she’s probably sleeping and her phone could have died. I’m going to head home now and check on her. I’ll call you back as soon as I get there.” She said and I could hear the rustle of her moving her stuff in the background.
“Thanks Sara”
“No problem Jamie” she said and I thought she was going to hang up “I care about her too” she added.
“I know” was all I could say back before ending the call.
I tried to busy myself while I waited for Sara to get home. I wasn’t sure how far she lived from wherever she was. The minutes seemed to talk hours and I found myself sitting in my truck outside the house while I waited for the call.
“Jamie she’s not here” Sara’s voice said frantically as soon as I answered. My heart dropped, if she wasn’t there where was she?
“What do you mean?”
“She’s not here, all her stuff is here but her purse is gone and she isn’t here” Sara answered.
“Maybe she went out?” I said trying to rack my brain to find a reason why she was missing and not answering her phone.
“Oh my God” Sara said after a couple seconds of silence.
“What?!”I answered; I hated not being there, I hated being so far.
“Jamie she took a bunch of pregnancy tests before leaving” Sara whispered so low I could barely hear her.
“What?” I asked, everything was spinning, I needed to find Holly.
“She’s pregnant” Sara said and my world cam crashing down.
