Chapter 2

I started to slow down as I rounded block that my apartment building was on. I took in a couple deep breaths though my nose and continued the short walk to my apartment. I never thought that I’d be the type of person who would take morning runs, for me that was always a thing of fantasies, but now here I was, it only took 5 years. I laughed to myself as I climbed the stairs to front doors and made my way around the marvel floor to the elevators.
“Brittany?” I heard a muffled voice ask though the music that blared through my head phones.
I slipped one ear bud from my ear as I turned to the guy standing next to me, “Tyler?” I gulped.
“What are you doing here?” We both asked which naturally made me blush.
He ran a hand though his dark hair, but answered. “I was just coming to see if Jamie wanted to go to breakfast, you?”
“I, uh… I live here.” I told him just as the bell rang, singling that the elevator.
“You live here eh,” He smiled, his Canadian accent slipping though as he stepped aside allowing me to get on the elevator and he followed. “What floor?”
“7th,” I told him as a grin crept onto his face.
“So your Jamie’s new neighbor?”
“Excuse me?” I asked, not sure if I heard him correctly. I knew that Jamie lived in these apartments, but his neighbor, what were the odds of that.
“You’re the chick that moved in next to Chubbs,” he smiled as he leaned on the wall across from where I stood.
“I guess so,” I shrugged as the elevator doors opened, dumbing us onto the 7th floor.
“So what are you doing up so early,” Tyler nodded as he pushed himself off the wall, as if my sweaty skin, shorts, and tang top were no indication.
“Going for a jog, just like I do every morning,” I told him as we walked down the hall; he stopped at what I guessed was Jamie’s door, which was in fact right next to mine.
“So you go for a jog every morning?” He asked, and I turned to look at him from my door as he studied me with a grin.
“Every morning, 8:15,” I confirmed as I pretended to busy myself by looking for my keys. Not wanting him to see how my cheeks heat up as he watched me.
“Wow,” he bit his lip as he ran one of his large hands though his hair. “So, um, I don’t know what you have planned, but you can come get something to eat with Jamie and me.”
“I don’t know Tyler,” I inhaled, “I have some things I need to take care of before we go in today.”
“I hope one of those things is taking a shower.” He smirked with a devilish grin.
“Shut up,” I rolled my eyes and I could feel my cheeks reddening by the second.
He just smiled down at me which didn’t help my blushing cheeks, so I just slipped my key into my door. “So would you like to come?” He asked, and I don’t know if it was just me, but their seemed like there was a hint of hopefulness in his voice.
“I think I am going to have to take a rain check.” I told him as my door swung open and I turned back towards him.
“Really,” he pouted.
“Really,” I nodded, not wanting to encourage whatever it was that he was trying to get at.
“Okay,” he sighed. “So I guess I’ll see you later.”
“That you will,” I confirmed.

“So Brittany, have you taken this test?” Seguin asked as I handed him back the assessment that the boys completed yesterday. I had three copies of each players scores, one for me, one for the player and one for Coach Ruff. Most of the team not had their assessments back, except for the couple of guys we decided they needed a little more practice.
“I have,” I confirmed with a sigh, I wasn’t sure exactly where we stood after are little conversation yesterday, but if he didn’t bring it up, then neither was I.
“So what’s your personality?” He sat in in locker by this point, still fully clothed, thankfully, as he read over the papers that I handed him. We just got back from conditioning outside, shocking up the Texas sun before physicals tomorrow.
“I’m an INTJ.” I told him, very proud of my personality.
“INTJ, eh,” he smiled with a wink at me. “So then we’re compatible.”
“Are we?” I questioned, not really sure where he was going with this.
“We are,” he smirked as he leaned his elbows on his knees at look at me, “so I guess that means we should have dinner sometime.”
I shook my head with a smirk, “that is definitely not what that means.” I laughed, glad that he was at least taking the time to look it over.
“Then what does it mean?” Seguin challenged.
“It means you should give up dude, because she is obviously not interested.” Rousell smiled as he approached, which caused my cheeks to heat up, and to my surprise, Tyler’s as well. “So what am I?”
“I don’t know, here.” I handed him his assessment back and his eyes widen as he looked over the paper.
“Is this good?” He asked as he looked over Seguin’s shoulder, trying to sneak a glance at, but Tyler was doing a good job of hiding it.
I shrugged; “There’s not really a good or bad personality.” I told him, “You were the only one on the team who got that personality type though.”
“What does that mean?”
“Means you’re a pretty special guy Rousell,” I smiled as a grin spread across his face.
“Told you I was special Segs,” He smiled at me with a wink at Seguin before he turned back to me. “You know what all this means, right? So I don’t have to read all this, right?”
“Yes, I know what all that means.” I confirmed with a roll of my eyes. “So no you do not have to read it, unless you want to know who you’re compatible with.”
“I can already tell you who I’m compatible with,” he smiled, “No one.”
“Well then I guess you didn’t even have to take the assessment.” I joked, because I really could care less about who they were compatible with. I was more concerned with the other aspects of the assessment.
“So you have had me stressing all day waiting for my results for a test that I didn’t even have to take,” he groaned.
“Yea,” Jamie laughed as he joined the small group. “I am sure you were really worried.”
“I was,” he smiled, his French ascent making the ‘s’ sound more like ‘z’.
I shook my head with a smile as I handed Jamie back his assessment.
“So what does all this mean?” Jamie asked as he looked over the papers.
“It means we’re compatible dude.” Seguin pointed to a section on Jamie’s paper with a smile and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. What was up with him and compatibility, I laughed to myself as I went to find the rest of the guys.
