Chapter 32

The next morning I woke up wrapped in Tyler’s white sheets, pretty much in the same position I fell asleep in last night, only one thing was missing, Tyler.
I sighed as I rolled onto my back and stretched my arms over my head loosening my sore muscles. A yawn escaped my lips as two huge black paws landed on my chest followed by a lick to my face.
“Hey buddy,” I greeted as I rubbed behind Cash’s ears then down his neck as his tongue hung out of the side of his mouth.
A second later, Tyler’s voice echoed from somewhere in the house. “Cash,” he called.
“He’s in here Tyler,” I yelled with a smile and Cash’s ear perked up at his name.
“Cash, boy,” Tyler spoke from the doorway as Cash and I turned to look at him. “I told you we were going to let her sleep for five more minutes.”
“He’s fine Tyler,” I cooed, turning Cash’s attention back to me. “I was already up.”
“Well I guess that saves me the trouble of having to wake you up.”
“Does it?” I questioned as Tyler leaned against the door frame, arms crossed, “and how were you planning on doing that.” “I don’t know exactly,” Tyler leered as he pushed himself off the door frame and with each slow step he took, I could feel my heart rate pick up. “I was thinking something like this…” His eyes twinkled with mischief as he bent over me and I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face as his lips connected with mine. It was a quick kiss but it was enough to leave my body tingle as he slowly pulled away. “That might have worked,” I confirmed with a smirk as I lazily opened my eyes. “You may have to try it one more time though.” “Okay,” he grinned as he leaned in once again, but he stopped, his lips only a cementer from mine. “I’ll try again tomorrow morning.” I exhaled through my nose as he pulled away. “That’s only if I stay again tonight.” “You will,” he winked as he stood above me and Cash rested on his hutches next to him. “Now come on, breakfast’s ready,” he informed me as he gave Cash a pat on the head and he turned to leave the room, not giving me a chance to think of a reply. “Well you heard the man Cash,” I sighed as I lifted the white comforter off of me. “Breakfast is ready.” With a tilt of his head the black lab only stared back at me with big brown eyes.

“Wow, you actually cooked and didn’t burn down the kitchen.” I applauded Tyler as I walked into the kitchen. “Hey, eggs and toast I can do,” Tyler smiled as he placed a plate on the counter, piled high with scrambled eggs and two pieces of toast. “Thanks Ty,” I gave him a soft smile, hoping that he was right, as I pulled the stool out from under the counter and took a seat. “So can you see without your glasses,” Tyler asked before he turned around and set the pan in the sink. “No,” I shook my head as I shuffled the eggs on my plate, which he seemed to have covered with cheese, around with my fork. “That is what these brilliant things called contacts are for, so nobody but you needs to know I have glasses.” Just for affect I gave Tyler a wink, but the dorky smile I got in return may me know I failed. “Oh,” he strutted over, pulled the chair out next to me and sat down. “Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me, but you should know you looked really hot with your glasses on. Like the mysteriously hot nerd that all the guys have a secret crush.” “Yea, except I don’t think many guys had a crush on me.” “You never know,” he shrugged from where he sat next to me. “I bet there were a lot of guys that did, they were just too embarrassed to admit it because you were way out of there league.” “Sure there were,” I rolled my eyes as I turned back to my food. From what I could tell they didn’t look very runny so with a deep breath I took my chances and shoveled a forkful into my mouth. I gave a nod of approval as I eat another forkful. “These aren’t bad Ty.” “I told you I could make eggs and toast,” Tyler beamed, please with himself. “Plus I felt bad; you’re always cooking for me…” “Whatever Tyler,” I laughed, because I knew he loved it when he didn’t have to cook. “But I wouldn’t mind if you cooked for me once in a while.” “Well I will cook for you whenever you spend the night, how does that sound.” “Is your way of bribing me to spend the night again?” “Maybe,” he leaned forward on the counter, “is it working?” “Not in the slightest.” I smirked, but truthfully I wouldn’t mind staying the night again, I mean as much as I hate to admit it, I did sleep very well in Tyler’s arms. I just wasn’t ready to feed his ego this early in the morning. “Well in that case, I was thinking if I’m driving you to the airport tomorrow it would make sense if you stay the night, then you could also sleep longer.” I turned to him as I tried not to smile. “I could sleep longer?” “Yea,” his smile grew, “I know how much you love your sleep.” “So that’s your new tactic? Play on my love for sleep.” I shook my head. “You know there is nothing wrong with loving sleep.” “Never said there was.” “Yea, except for the fact that you are trying to use it against me,” I sighed, because even with that said it was a good idea, but I wasn’t going to let him know that. “Are you seriously that desperate to get me to spend the night again?” “Hey, I have to take every opportunity I get.” Tyler smirked, “plus I know you probably don’t want to have to get up at 5:30 tomorrow morning.” “I don’t,” I sighed as I gave in and I turned back to my food. “I guess it would be nice to sleep a little longer, even though I’ll also have two hours to sleep on the plane.” “Are you really complaining because you get to sleep longer?” Tyler shook his head as I picked up one of the pieces of my toast and took a bite. “I would say you could be your beauty rest, but you’re already so beautiful you don’t need that.” “Yea,” I blushed, coming up with a quick subject chance. “Well I wish I could say the same about you.” I smirked as I gave him a pat on the cheek and grabbed my plate before I slid off the chair. I could feel Tyler’s eyes on me as I made my way to the sink. “You know for someone who likes to pretend they’re so sweet and innocence, you sure are mean sometimes.” “So I’ve been told.” I sighed as grabbed the sponge off the sink and washed my plate. “But thank you for breakfast Tyler, it was good.” “Your welcome Brittany, just don’t tell the guys that I can cook anything because then they’ll want me to cook for them too.” “Don’t worry; your secret is safe with me.” I grinned with another attempted wink at Tyler, as I mimicked his words from earlier.
