Never Let Go.

Walk of a Lifetime.

‘Jamie’s POV’

Looking down at my left wrist I note the time, 4:29 pm on August 5, 2018 . In less than 60 seconds the music is going to start and six beautiful girls are going to come down this grassy path followed by the most amazing woman in the world. The woman I am so in love with that I cannot fathom being without her at this point. Like clockwork music begins playing softly, a song I had never heard before Kieran and I met with the DJ I looked up just in time to see Kate at the halfway point and Niamh taking her first few strides down the aisle. I can hear the guys beside me mumbling about how hot they look and I wonder which one will wind up taking one of the 3 single bridesmaids home. My money’s on Seguin.

It feels like forever before Lauren is finally making her way down the aisle, she’s smiling and I think she might have winked in Cody’s direction because he’s laughing a little. A small part of me hopes that they’re next to get married, we’re going to need more married friends now. My mind comes back to the task at hand when the music changes to the typical wedding march. I can feel my pulse pickup as the crowd rises and turns to look for Kieran. Tyler nudges my arm and I look over at him quickly, he just gives me his classic shit eating grin. When I turn back I see her, and I’m sure my face was priceless. The dress is gorgeous in its own right, but the body it’s hugging is phenomenal. I can feel my eyes stinging with tears as my mouth hangs slightly open, “She’s gorgeous.” I mumble and Tyler agrees, “You’re a lucky guy Jamie.” Hell yeah I am.

She’s standing across from me now our fingers intertwined as the Priest goes through the motions. To be completely honest I’m not really paying that much attention to what he’s saying, I am too lost in Kieran’s blue eyes and my thoughts. When it’s time to light our unity candle we spend a few extra moments at the altar, “You look incredible baby,” she just smiles as I take her hand and kiss the top. “How about we go get married now?” she asks and we make our way back to the ceremony.

The rest of the Priest’s speech is a blur and before I know it Tyler is handing me Kieran’s ring freshly attached to the wedding band she had chosen. Kieran has said her vows and made her promises and I watch as she slides the gunmetal ring up my finger, it feels strange but it also feels right. It’s my turn and as the words “I do.” Fall from my lips I can’t help but smile. We both look up at the man next to us as he raises his hands up, “By the power vested in me by God, and the state of Texas I now pronounce you man and wife; Jamie you may kiss your bride.”

‘Kieran’s POV’

Hurry up, hurry up, please hurry up. That’s all I’ve been thinking for last 10 minutes, I just want to hear the words “Man and wife!” For this being only a half-Catholic ceremony it sure did take a long time! When the Priest finally announces us as man and wife and allows Jamie to kiss me my hearts going a million beats per minute. In what seems like milliseconds since the words came from the Priest’s mouth Jamie’s hands are on my face and he’s pulling me in my arms fall to his shoulders.

Our kiss feels like the first time our lips have ever touched, like the night in the hallway of my apartment complex 4 years ago, the electricity still flowing through our bodies. As to not gross out our friends and family I pull away from his hungry lips leaning my forehead on his a smile planted across my face. “I love you Jamie Benn.” He laughs a little, still grinning “I love you more Kieran Benn.”

Taking my bouquet back from Lauren and hugging my best friend we exit the ceremony to Ellie Goulding's Love Me Like You do, both of us full of smiles. At the end of the pathway Jamie stops and kisses me once again, “Thank you,” he mumbles against my lips, to which I ask for what? Cradling my face in his large hands he’s staring deep into my eyes, “For letting me, for letting me love you. I can’t imagine my life without you Kier,” The tears are back as I kiss his cheek, “Well then, thank yourself for breaking down my walls Jamie,” I hold up my left hand, “By the way this means you’re stuck with me for life.”

Hundreds of pictures later with our family and bridal party, my favorite being Jamie and I holding Finn between the two of us like Finley sandwich we’re finally headed to our reception. The banquet room is bustling twinkling with chandeliers and flickering of candles on each table, everything in shades of pink, navy, champagne, and gold glitter. It’s everything I have ever dreamed of and more.

Eating dinner was a rushed affair has we were bombarded by guests, everyone from teammates of Jamie’s, coaches, Canadian friends, my Irish relatives, my sorority sisters they all wanted to talk to the new Mr. and Mrs. Before we knew it the DJ was calling us out onto the dance floor, Jamie grabs onto my hand pulling me from my chair and out onto the hardwood floor.

The slow melody of Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud beings to play as I wrap my arms around Jamie’s neck his arms snaked around my waist. Neither of us are much for dancing, we’re far too lanky for anything crazy so it’s just the classic swaying around the floor for us. The words of the song fit us to at tee, you really can find love right where you are it might just be your best friend’s teammate. And the line “When the crowds no longer know my name” can work for Jamie’s career too, the song just fit us and it was a no brainer for our first dance.

Lost deep in each other’s eyes soaking in the fact that this all real, we are finally married. I break through the silence, “We’re married, how crazy is this? You know 4 years ago I didn’t even want to be in the same room as you!” Jamie throws his head back laughing, but he knows it’s true, “Can’t say I felt the same way, you know I thought you were hot.” Now I’m laughing too, the photographer is most likely loving this and so am I. Tilting my head up I give him a kiss before whispering in his ear, “I think you’re hot too.”

When our song ends we continue to dance, I with my dad a tear filled waltz to a classical Irish melody and Jamie with his mom. With both of us being the youngest and our older sibling’s already tied up you would think this wouldn’t phase our parent’s but they are all very emotional. Dance after dance the night goes on and I am thankful to not be wearing heels. Our cake has been cut and I made sure Jamie got quite the face full, our wedding has been nothing short of perfect.
