Never Let Go.

Mrs.

‘Kieran’s POV’

By 10:30 people are trickling out and I know we have to be at the airport around midnight, our private flight to LA before heading to Bora Bora leaves at 1:10.

11:30 and Lauren appears by my side, “Let’s go get you out of this dress girl, you got a plane to catch.” I smile at her and kiss Jamie’s cheek, he gets up to go say some goodbyes before changing himself. When I reappear dressed in leggings, a shirt that says MRS on it and a pair of custom embroidered “Mrs. Benn 8/5/17” victory green converse the only people left in the ball room are our close family and wedding party. Jamie’s back too in a t-shirt and Dallas Stars shorts, “Nice shirt,” he chirps wrapping his arms around me as stand in the crowd of relatives. They all chuckle and fawn around us, and before we know it our car is here to take us to the airport.

I hug my parents and Irish grandparents’ goodbye the longest, they will be back in Ireland before I return from the honeymoon. My nana whispers how proud of me she is in my ear as she’s hugging me and I watch a tear slip from her eye. A few embraces for Jamie’s side and we’re good to go, our bags are already in the trunk courtesy of Tyler and Jordie.

Hand in hand we walk outside waving goodbye to our families the sky dark and full of stars as we are outside the city. Jamie opens the door to the SUV allowing me to get in before him he waves one last time after climbing in before shutting the door. The driver asks if we’re ready and we say yes, I am immediately curled into Jamie’s side as the car hits the road towards the Dallas/Ft. Worth airport.

Being on a private flight meant that our car was driven directly onto the tarmac, once the car was stopped the driver opened our door and Jamie and I crawled out both of us stretching and yawning. The driver handed our bags to the airline worker as we were lead up the stairs and onto our plane. I immediately sank into one of the large reclining chairs kicking off my shoes before curling into a ball. Jamie plopped down in the chair diagonal from me giving me room to stretch out my legs, my husband was perfect I thought to myself. The pilot came on the loudspeaker, congratulating us and announcing that we would take off in 15 minutes, with that I snuggled into the white pillow the flight attendant had given me.

3 hours later we landed in Los Angeles and I had slept the entire way, but I was still very tired and my muscles ached from dancing and sleeping in a confined position. With nothing to worry about but our carryon’s Jamie and I made it to our gate no problem, after grabbing some food and using the bathroom we had nothing to do until our next flight but people watch. Our first adventure as husband and wife would be surviving the 9 hour flight from LAX to Bora Bora, I myself was hoping to sleep through at least half of it.

5 am and we finally set foot on the plane my shirt drawing attention from other passengers, we were congratulated over and over as we made way to our seats. I silently thanked God for the layflat seats as I crawled into the makeshift bed making myself comfortable for the journey. It was harder than it looked but by the time the wheels of the plane left the ground Jamie was asleep and I was on my way down too.

9 hours later we were on the ground in the beautiful land of Bora Bora, French Polynesia. The water was crystal clear and the mountains surrounding us were gorgeous, the island itself is secluded. It was just as the travel agency had described it and I was glad to have chosen such a gorgeous destination. Arriving at the Four Seasons resort we were greeted similarly to Hawaii with flower leis and fruit water, as we checked in we were congratulated in the native language before being shown to our bungalow overlooking the water.

Our bungalow had a deck stretching out over the mesmerizing water, the house itself only big enough for 3 maybe 4 people but for the next 4 days it’s just for Jamie and me. Our honeymoon, the beginning of our life together. Siting on the edge of our deck with our legs dangling in the water Jamie checks his watch, “According to island time we’ve been married for 24 hours,” this makes me smile, one day down forever to go. “Happy 24 hour-versary Jame, I think we should celebrate” I give him a wink as I pull my legs out of the water. “What do you have in mind Mrs. Benn?” he asks as I am standing up while simultaneously pulling my shirt over my head, “I guess you'll have to follow me to find out Mr. Benn.”
