Fun in the Sun.

‘Jamie’s POV’

I’m not much for the beach, or for vacations in general but being anywhere with Kieran is a blast. We have spent the last four days doing nothing but relaxing and having fun in you know more ways than one. We went deep sea fishing, where I did most of the fishing, on a hike through the mountains, paddle boarding, Kieran even attempted to snorkel, and on our last night we went to the luau. Our trip has been absolutely perfect and I am kind of bummed out to be heading back to the States today even if it is nearing the start of the season. Spending time with just my wife, which is still odd to say has been perfect but I guess that’s life and everyone has to go back to reality eventually.

We’re heading back to the Bora Bora International airport in taxi when I get a good look at my boarding pass, the destination makes me raise my eyebrows. “Hey Kier,” I ask getting her to look at me instead of at her phone. “Why is our destination New York? I thought we had a direct flight to Dallas this time.” She just grins at me and I know now she has been up to something. “We may have one more thing to do before we go home,” she’s pulling at her lip and I am still confused.

“Which is?” I try to drag it out of her, “How do you feel about a pit stop at Yankee stadium, I hear the Jays are in town.” My eyes go wide and my smile has to be ear to ear, “No freaking way.” She reaches into her purse and pulls out an envelope with 2 tickets right behind the dugout, “Way.”

24 hours later after landing at JFK airport in New York and sleeping off a little of the jetlag at the hotel we have found ourselves sitting in the hot New York sun. Being the sneaky snake that she is Kieran had magically packed my Yankee’s jersey and a shirt for herself at the bottom of her bag, she had pulled this surprise over my head flawlessly. This game was perfect my two favorite teams facing each other and Kieran knew how bad I wanted to see another game at Yankee stadium even if she herself isn’t a big baseball fan.

I turn my head to look at Kieran, Vans snapback on her head and a little pair of jean shorts cover very little of her lightly tanned legs. She looks beautiful, pulling out my phone I snap a picture of her looking out on the field posting it to Instagram.

“Back in the States with my wife @kieranbenn14, she surprised me with Yankee’s tickets so I guess I’ll keep her ;) Love you K!”

“Haha very funny Jame,” she laughs as her phone lights up with a notification, I lean over kissing her on the cheek “You know I love you more than anything in the world Kier.” Kieran smiles her hand on my knee, “I know, and I love you J.” As our attention goes back to the game the 7th inning stretch begins and the kiss cam pans the crowd.

“Not over here, not over here” Kieran’s mumbling under her breath but against her wishes the camera finds the two of us. “Come on you gotta kiss me,” she rolls her blue eyes but leans in anyway. As the camera catches the kiss there’s voice arising behind us and although we’re not in Dallas I know I have been recognized and it’s the first time in a week.

A tap on my shoulder lets me know a hockey fan has finally found me as I turn to face the person Kieran moves her hand from my knee and goes back to the game. My eyes meet those belonging to a young boy maybe 10 or 11, “Are you Jamie Benn?” he asks quietly and I smile at him. “Yeah bud I am, are you a hockey fan?” He nods, his favorite player is Sidney Crosby but he started liking me after the 2014 Olympics. His dad takes our picture and I sign the baseball he had brought mixing his two favorite sports together, young fans are the best.

When I turn back to Kieran she’s smiling, “You’re great with kids babe,” I shrug it’s just part of the job. Wrapping my arm around her shoulders we enjoy the rest of the game soaking up the end of our honeymoon, its back to Dallas and reality in the morning.

Notes

They're just too easy to write about being cute! Not a Yankee's fan so this pained me a little to write about them lol ;) Go Cubs Go! xoxo -Ally

Ps. We're headed back to reality, can things stay this good?
