Arrow Hawk: Birth of the Hockey Avengers

Wrecking Chaos and Saving the Day

They can instantly hear the noises and Captain Blackhawk's screeches, which are still strong and powerful. They all share a look and race to join in the fight, getting closer and closer to the action.

Chaos is the first to give off a cry and he moves his upper body and hips in a way that will make a belly dancer jealous. Blue, black and white plasma energy beams shoot around him like the rings of Saturn and then shoot off at the enemy. Multiple groups of robots are cut down or obliterated.

“GRRRR!! I'M HERE TO WRECK CHAOS!!” the blond Lightning player snarled.

Evelyn elbows Gabriel in the arm. “See, Landy, told you.” She activates her wings and powers once more via the Stars' symbol.

Gabriel shrugs. “Whatever. I still think he's an arrogant asshole.”

Iceshot dashes forward, shooting off ice darts and taking on some more robots. He looks like a more masculine version of Elsa as she creates her ice palace (when she “let it go”). Zvezda giggles and launches back into the air. Portal teleports around, bewildering the robots and taking them out. Still more robots come.

But Zvezda knows that they are much better and she can find Scorpion now. She flies toward the direction where he had been dragged in and she scans the streets looking for him.

“Alright…Black Scorpion! Tyler Seguin, where are you?”

As she passes by an old, worn-down parking garage nearby, she hears sounds of slapping and physical abuse. She flies into the garage and drops behind a car. Eventually she peers around the car and spots Scorpion tied down to a chair with a black bandana tied around his head. All of his spy gadgets are scattered on the ground.

“Oh, Tyler Seguin, what the--?” She gasps as someone walks forward and leans down to the side of Scorpion's face and seems to whisper something to him.

It isn't a robot...this person is dressed in a green stretchy costume...very familiar to Zvezda.

Then it hits her.

“Canuck!”

She watches as Canuck torments Scorpion with whatever he's told him. Scorpion kicks at the ground and jerks at the ropes, muffling his grunts of distress. Canuck rounds the chair and Scorpion, making sure to keep a finger pressed against his skin.

“What's wrong Scorpion, did I take away your poisonous sting?”

Scorpion kicks out in desperation and fury, but he doesn't connect with Canuck. In fact, Scorpion's foot appears to go straight through the villain's leg.

“Uh-uh, now Tyler, kicking isn't nice.”

Zvezda frowns and gets up from her hiding spot. She walks into view and puts her hands on her hips. “And neither is tying someone up and gagging them! And never mess with the Dallas Stars, even Tyler Seguin, it's not cool.”

Canuck spins around to her, just as she whips up a ball of cosmic energy and shoots it at him. The energy goes through Canuck and hits the wall on the other side, blasting a nice hole through the cement. Scorpion begins to work the ropes around his wrists, while Zvezda whips out some star darts and throws them at the villain.

The smoke clears and Canuck stomps toward her, smiling and completely unscathed. Zvezda cusses to herself. Then an idea hits her. She continues to pester the villain with her "power of the Stars" and draws him a safe distance from the struggling spy, who will certainly need her help to get free.

“I'm shocked sweetheart, when I heard that Black Hawk the Mighty had turned into this miserable Zvezda person with the "power of the Stars," I assumed you'd be easy to defeat—”

“Think again Canuck!” When she is certain of the safe distance, she screams and waves her hands before her, conjuring up a black hole. Canuck blinks, unaware of the new power. “You thought wrong. You see, you shouldn't make me angry, because - and I quote Hulk for this - you won't like me when I'm angry! Good bye Canuck!” Zvezda feeds the black hole and causes it to suck the villain into it.

As Canuck vanishes into the event horizon and out of sight, “This isn't over!”

Zvezda quickly makes the black hole disappear with a wave of her hand and she races over to Scorpion. She unties the bandana first and then the ropes around his wrists, holding him securely to the chair. Scorpion jumps to his feet and snatches up all his gadgets and returns them to their places.

He smiles at the heroine as he grabs his guns up last and stuffs them into the holsters attached to his boots. “Thanks, Ev.”

“Don't mention it Tyler. We need everyone for this fight and that includes you.” She winks at him and then grabs his hand and leads him to the side of the parking garage. She raises up into the air, pulling Scorpion with her.

“Is this necessary, can't I--?” Scorpion starts to say, before he is whisked into the air outside the garage by her. “Or not. Next time ask me, Ev!”

“Shut up Tyler, this is the quickest way.” She carries Scorpion back to the others and drops him by Star Vision, who is at the corner of the block to the street Scorpion had been dragged down.

Star Vision pauses in his laser-zapping to turn to his friend. “Tyler, where have you been?”

“Partying,” Tyler jokes with a stern, unamused face.

Star Vision gives off a quick laugh and then frowns. “Very funny. The sarcasm's a little dry and unwelcome, but good to know you're okay buddy.”

Scorpion dips his head. “Likewise, Chubbs.”

Zvezda joins them and together everyone battles the robots and manage to be filled with hope. The robots continue to stream onto the street, seemingly coming from somewhere unknown, yet the heroes aren't deterred. They battle through and manage to hold off the army with ease.

That is…

Until Red Wing and Vanek show up…

Zvezda is attempting to go for the two archers, when something slams into her and sends her crashing into a building. She recovers, before she hits the ground and looks up to see a red-armored man like Iron Man, only all red and white and with a Red Wings' symbol etched into the chest. Red wings with white tips protrude from his back. He looks like the offspring of Falcon and Iron Man merged together.

“RED WING!” She gasps, raising back up a little bit into the air.

Red Wing grins. “Good to see again Black Hawk, been too long.”

“That's Zvezda to you!”

“Oh right, cause of the whole change of boyfriends, huh. Guess Jonny's busy with the blond rat instead.”

“Patrick's not a rat!” She spits and pushes off the building, zooming at Red Wing. She doesn't bother messing with her powers and meets the villain's fists with her hands, growling at him. “Don't you EVER talk about my friends like that!”

“What are you gonna do about it Stargirl?”

“It's ZVEZDA!! You bastard!” She pushes against Red Wing's fists, but he holds strong against her.

“Your rage blinds you. You're not the only one with some new powers...”

“Yeah, I know, you have that annoying high-pitched scream!”

Red Wing chuckles as he suddenly shoves her back with a powerful thrust of his arms against hers. Then he opens his mouth up and emits sound waves from it, like a silent banshee. As he screams silently, his arms fling out to the sides of him and his fingers became talons.

Below, Captain Blackhawk looks up. He is the only one not bothered by the scream. Showtime is cringing in agony, covering his ears from the screech. All the others are doing the same thing. Including the robots. Captain Blackhawk pats Showtime on the head and launches into the air. He flies directly at Red Wing and slams into him.
Red Wing stops screeching and turns to face him.

“Good, I hoped to lure you out. Now the party can begin. Remember me, pretty boy?”

Captain Blackhawk faces him, hovering in the air. “Too well, Red Wing. But I'm not the same Jonathan Toews you remember, I've got powers now.”

Red Wing snickers. “And a curly blondie as a lover. I heard. They call you Captain Blackhawk now.”

He flicks his head in the direction of Showtime, who is once again spinning his stick around and slashing robots with quick swiping motions.

Captain Blackhawk furiously gives off a loud hawk cry, which is echoed by Red Wing. This time, he doesn't puncture anyone's ear drums, but is communicating with the Captain. Zvezda recovers once more and flies to join him, both of them hovering over the street opposite Red Wing.

“Now, this is familiar. Only last time, I believe it was something a little like this...” The villain swoops down and grabs Showtime, knocking his stick from his hands. He wraps an arm around the blond's neck. Then he lifts the stick back up to his hand and holds it to Showtime's neck. “Ah, better...”

“Showtime!” Zvezda screams.

“Patrick!” Captain Blackhawk shouts.

“Huh, whadoya know, I can still capture the little blondie! This time, though, I have kinetikinesis number one and number two you all possess different powers too...oh and most importantly, number three I'll defeat you this time. Remember what you said Black Hawk or Zvezda, you told me, 'Hey Red Wing, maybe don't make things so easy for me!' Well, your wish is granted.”

Zvezda shoots a look at Captain Blackhawk, who is clenching a fist at his side. If he gets any angrier, he'll transform into his hawk form. And Zvezda can tell that Red Wing is provoking him. On purpose. “Jonny…CB, don’t. He wants to draw out the black hawk.”

“Red Wing, let him go.” The Chicago Blackhawk hero narrows his eyes and clenches his other fist now.

“Such a pretty blondie...” The villain pinches Showtime's cheeks together. “I still can't believe that you both are madly in love with one another and gay.”

“Let go of me!” Showtime grunts and kicks at Red Wing, who smirks and cackles.

Captain Blackhawk raises his arms up and crosses them in an "x" form in front of his chest. He is really getting angry. Zvezda spots this and opens her mouth, but before she can say anything, Red Wing cuts her off.

“Don't struggle sweetie, you're only feeding my power.”

“AND YOU'RE FEEDING MINE!!” Captain Blackhawk throws his hands down to his sides, sharply and then snaps his head up, letting out a loud, angry hawk screech. He instantly morphs into a black hawk creature and sends a focused stream of fire at the villain, who shoves Showtime to the ground finally.

Red Wing uses Showtime's stick to block the fireball and leaps to the side, unharmed. Showtime screams as Captain Blackhawk's stream of fire singes his shoulder. He snatches his stick, which is luckily impenetrable and has absorbed Captain Blackhawk's pyric exhalation (or fire breath). He watches as his hockey Captain flies at the villain, continuing to pelt him with his fire breath.

“There's the black hawk!! Now the party can really begin!” Red Wing shouts joyously, as he darts about in the air.

Captain Blackhawk gives chase.

Meanwhile, Zvezda drops down to Showtime. “You okay, Kaner?”

“Yeah. Physically, but mentally—” Showtime cuts himself off and glances at his singed shoulder. “It's not like I have Wolverine's healing ability.”

“Jonny didn't mean it, Patrick. You know how he gets when he's really angry.”

“Yeah, but still, he knows not to hurt me.”

“It'll be okay. Come on, let's get the archers. The others can handle the robots and you need a break.” Zvezda grabs Showtime's hand.

The blond Blackhawk winger grips tighter onto the handle of his stick and follows the heroine to where the two archers are trapped. Now there are bandanas wrapped around their heads, tied tightly over their mouths.

Showtime pokes the shield encompassing the platform and steps back as it sparks and shoots out beams of light at them. “How are we gonna deactivate that thing?” he questions.

“I don't know. I can try to channel enough of my cosmic energy and see if I can break it. But you may want to stand back...”

Showtime nods and backs away. Zvezda faces the orb of energy and raises up her hands, pointing them at the force-field. Then she anchors herself to the ground and takes a deep breath. She begins to shoot her cosmic plasma energy at it and continues to feed and strengthen the power.

Showtime shields his eyes as the orb glows a brighter color, before exploding. BOOM! He lowers his arm and blinks. “You did it!”

Zvezda drops her hands and darts onto the platform. She goes to Arrow Hawk first. Showtime takes Sabrebow. Zvezda lowers the bandana from Arrow Hawk's mouth, while Showtime does the same with Sabrebow.

Then she shoots one of her exploding star objects at the chain anchoring the archer to the platform. It breaks apart and she works on the chains holding his wrists together now.

“Eve! Spasibo,” Arrow Hawk gasps.

Zvezda smiles and winks at him. “Lyuboye Val. Ty eto znayesh'.”

“I do.”

After being unable to get the chains off of his wrists, Zvezda places her hands on top and blasts them off with her energy. She runs to help Showtime out, who is attempting to use his stick to slice the chains off Sabrebow.

“You're not strong enough yet, Patrick. Allow me?” Zvezda repeats the process she's done for Arrow Hawk. Minus the wasting time pulling at the wrist chains. He is soon freed.

With Arrow Hawk and Sabrebow free now, she returns to Val, who's picked up his quiver and bow and has readied an arrow in the bow's string.

Arrow Hawk grins. “I can shoot metal human?”

“Go ahead, sweetie!” She laughs.

Arrow Hawk raises his bow up and takes aim at one of the robots, who has grabbed Scorpion's arm. He narrows his eyes and lets the arrow fly. It zooms straight at the robot and sends him exploding off of Scorpion, who jumps away unharmed.

He kicks another robot in the head, before landing on the ground. He snaps his head up, wearing a huge smile. “Nice shot Val!” Scorpion gets back to his feet and punches another robot down.

Arrow Hawk lowers his bow and turns back to Zvezda. “I shoot robot, help Tyler.”

“You helped Scorpion,” Zvezda corrects with a short chuckle of amusement.

“Yeah, Scorpion.” Arrow Hawk looks past the heroine to his fellow archer, who has his bow and quiver of arrows too. Showtime stands beside him, unsure about what to do. “Nikita, U tebya vse v poryadke?”

“Da.”

Arrow Hawk pulls another arrow from his quiver. “Davayte zakonchim etot boy togda!”

“Pravil'no!” Sabrebow copies his friend and they bolt off the platform.

“Stay out of trouble you two! I’m not gonna save you three times in one day!” Zvezda shouts after them. They respond to her in Russian and she shakes her head, smiling. Then she turns and nods to Showtime, “Same goes for you too, Patrick.” He smiles and darts off, swinging his stick around once more. The heroine takes to the skies, looking for Captain Blackhawk and Red Wing. She doesn't see them.

At first.

Then a ball of fire ignites in the sky and the furious Captain of the Blackhawks flies over the top of a building, still after the villain.

Knowing that the black hawk won't last much longer with his fury, she zooms to help him out. As she flies, she whips up a cosmic ball of energy and shoots it at Red Wing. It hits him square in the chest and he screeches in shock. He tumbles to the ground, where Portal happens to be.

“John, get Red Wing!”

Portal glances up and spots the falling villain. He catches him in his arms and teleports away from the scene to an unknown place.

Zvezda breathes a sigh of relief and turns back to Captain Blackhawk. Just then, the black hawk faints in mid-air and crashes to the ground, morphing back into his human hero form. Unfortunately he slams into the ground, before she can get to him. She lands on the ground and hovers over him. “Jonny! Hey, CB! You okay?”

“I'm fine, Eve, just weak...that's what the fury does to me. I'm able to last longer and control the anger, but it only lasts so long still... Gosh that hurts every time!” He moans as he pushes himself up.

“You know you hurt Patrick, right?”

Captain Blackhawk shakes his head and looks to the blond, spotting the singed shoulder wound immediately. “Oh, I said I'd never hurt him...and yet I did! Is he mad at me?”

“No, but you should go apologize to him.” She bends down and takes his hand into hers and helps him up to his feet.

“Right, right. Thanks Z. Did you get Val and Nikita free?”

“I did, but go apologize to your boyfriend!” Zvezda shoves Captain Blackhawk toward Showtime.

“Alright, alright.” Captain Blackhawk brushes himself off and walks to Showtime. He surprises the blond by wrapping his arms around him from behind. He isn't even scared by the stick twirling and manages to not get himself whacked in the face.

Showtime drops his stick in fright. “Jonny! Oh dammit, you scared me! Don't do that!” He slowly relaxes, realizing who it is wrapped around him. “During a battle, I can take your head off! It's dangerous sneaking up on me like that!”

Captain Blackhawk lets him go and the blond turns to him, his blue eyes sparking. “I'm sorry I hurt you baby. I didn't mean it. I was, you know...”

Showtime grabs Captain Blackhawk's face with his hands and presses his lips to the Captain's. “Don't speak Jonny, I forgive you. Even though I know Evelyn is behind your apology. I don't care. I can't stay mad at you.”

Captain Blackhawk relaxes now and lets Showtime kiss him.

Zvezda shakes her head and smiles at them. “Get a room Kazer!”

She zooms off to join Arrow Hawk and Sabrebow, who are leaping and tumbling over cars and striking down all the robots in their way.
