Somebody to Love

Chapter 43

When Marc had to go back to Sorel during the summer, more specifically July and August to visit family and friends along with training, I was free to go with him if I wanted since school was out until September. Obviously, I wanted to go, but it's just how much time I wanted to spend up there. I know I want to be able to see Ally on the weekends when she isn't working. I guess I should call Marc to let him know what I wanna do this summer.

"Hi baby!" he greeted.

"Hi Marc! How are you?"

"Great. Wish you were here!"

"That's actually what I wanted to talk you about."

"Yeah?"

"I'm thinking about coming during the week and seeing Ally on the weekends."

"That works."

"It does."

"And I love it."

I smiled. Today was Saturday and I could be there by Monday. I had been without him for about a couple weeks and I'd be wrapping arms around him and kissing him as soon as I saw him.

"I'll see you soon then. Right?"

"Of course! I can't wait to see you!"

"I can't wait to see you! I love you!"

"I love you too!"

I was right when I thought I'd be able to fly to Quebec. I walked out of the terminal to see Marc standing and waiting for me. I smiled and briskly walked over to him. He wrapped his arms around me and hugged me for the longest time while I buried my face into his shoulder and took a good whiff of the cologne that I loved so much. After a few moments, he lifted my head and kissed me. The kissing went on for several seconds until we came up for air. He pressed his forehead against mine and rubbed his thumb over my cheek causing me to smile just a little bit more.

"I love you." he said.

"I love you too. I don't know why it took me so long to decide to come see you."

"Bella, it was two weeks. It wasn't that long."

I nodded and kissed him again.

"You know, Marylene is so excited to see you."

I smiled.

"Me too! It's been nearly six months! Oh my God!"

He laughed at my excitement.

The hour long ride was full of conversation, bad singing and laughter. When we got to his parents' house, we heard his family in the backyard.

"I'll take this inside. Go ahead."

I smiled and he kissed my cheek. I dashed off and found them sitting and talking.

"Bonjour!" I said opening my arms.

"Bella!"

"Marylene!"

She hugged me and squealed.

"I'm so glad you're here."

"I'm glad to be here."

Then, I went over to greet his parents.

"Alors, où est Marc?" his mom asked. (So, where is Marc?)

"Mettre ma valise dans sa chambre." (He's just putting my suitcase in his room.)

Just a couple minutes later, I heard him coming out from the back door. Once he announced his arrival, he draped his arms over my shoulders.

"Hey." I said turning my head.

"Hey. What's going on?"

"Just making small talk."

"Évidemment." (Obviously.)

"Tais-toi, Marc." I said. (Shut up, Marc.)

Everybody laughed.

"Alors, quels sont les plans de tout le monde d'aujourd'hui?" he asked. (So, what are everybody's plans for today?)

"Nous étions juste devoir quelques amis." his parents said. (We were just gonna have some friends over.)

"J'allais aller voir des amis." his sister said. (I was gonna see some friends.)

"Que voulez-vous faire?" he asked. (What do you wanna do?)

"Je veux aller à la piscine." I said with a smile. (I wanna go swimming.)

"Je peux y arriver." he said with a smirk. (I can make that happen.)

Within twenty minutes, I grabbed a bag and put the necessary items in there for swimming.

"You know, this'll be the first time I get to see you in a bathing suit." he said kissing my neck.

I smirked.

"I can't wait for you to see me in one." I said leaning back to kiss him.

"Glad to hear it."

He was smirking at this point.

"So, where are we going?"

"We're going to meet up with a few friends, including Max."

"Yay!"

He laughed and shook his head.

Max was another great friend to me, a lot like an older brother, actually. So, to see him in the offseason was nothing short of wonderful. When we got there and I saw him, I smiled and called out his name. He smiled and picked me up all the while spinning me.

"It's good to see you, Bella. Really glad you decided to come up."

"Me too. It was just a matter of how long."

"How long?"

"During the week. On the weekends, I'll go back to my hometown and visit Ally."

"The girl who got you tickets for the season but doesn't like hockey."

"That's the one."

"Glad she did because you and Marc probably never would've met. An unintentional matchmaker of sorts."

"Guess you could say that." I said blushing.

"I gotta meet this cupid friend of yours."

"I'll try and get her up to meet you."

"Thank you."

"No problem, Max."

I saw Marc blush beside me and also saw Max whispering something as I walked away. He shook his head and caught up to where I was.

"Is everything okay?"

"Yeah."

"You sure?"

"Absolutely."

"Ok." I said smiling, although I was still curious.

When I finally changed and came out, I kept my towel on until I could drop it. Marc was sitting on a chair waiting for me.

"Hey."

"Hey." I said sitting beside me.

"Ready to get in?"

"If you'd help me put on some sunscreen, if you haven't noticed how pale your girlfriend is."

He smirked and I smirked right back.

Once I dropped the towel, I saw that he was speechless.

"Well, shit..."

I laughed and kissed his cheek.

"Does that mean I look good?"

"You look so fucking hot...so beautiful. Good doesn't even do you justice."

I blushed.

"I love you." I said.

"I love you too." he said wrapping his arms around me.

That was the best summer of my entire life. I spent so much time with Marc and I got to see Ally every weekend; life couldn't be better. I'm back home now and it's actually one year to the day that I met Marc. I smiled at the wonderful memory.

To say the least, I was psyched. I loved teaching music to kids because I knew how much I loved it when I was in school. I was also pumped to be able to go to Pens games. Yep. I'm a huge hockey fan. Luckily for me, a close friend of mine, who knew I loved hockey, yet couldn't afford them, got me season tickets. I could've not been any happier and I still feel the same. I still hadn't received them, though Ally said someone was going to deliver them, but she said that it was a surprise and they'd come the day after I moved in, which would be tomorrow. I had to admit, I was highly impatient. For the rest of the day. I spent my day unpacking boxes and putting items away in their desirable places. By the time I finished all I had to do, it was midnight, so I changed, brushed my teeth and headed to bed for a good night's sleep.

The Next Day-Noon

Since today was the day that I would receive my tickets, I wore my Fleury jersey. In just a few hours, my tickets would arrive and I'd be so much happier. When I heard the doorbell ring, I was in my room, which wasn't too far away. I walked at a normal pace and answered the door. The person on the other side was none other than Marc-Andre Fleury. I could've melted right then and there, not to mention I was star-struck, but I managed to keep my composure. Finally, I spoke.

"Hi."

"Hey, you must be Bella."

"Yes. I am. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too."

I was never one to be so shy, in fact, I was quite outgoing, but today, I'm the absolute opposite; I have no idea why, though.

"Would you like to come in?" I asked.

"Very much so, thanks. It's so hot out today."

I smiled and let him in. I almost forgot how hot it was outside.

Bella, you're an idiot.

"Bella?" Marc asked.

"Uh, yeah? Sorry."

"That's okay."

I felt so embarrassed. Hopefully, my cheeks weren't as a red as a tomato. I sighed and smiled.

"It looks like you just moved in."

"Yeah, yesterday."

"How did you order/buy tickets in time?"

"My best friend, who oddly enough doesn't like hockey at all, bought them for me since I couldn't afford them."

"Wow."

"Yeah. I couldn't afford them because I just got a new job here."

"Where did you get a new job at?"

"At a local elementary school as a music teacher."

"Awesome job! Where'd you go to school?"

"Duquesne University."

"Was it hard to get into?"

"Very. You had to have straight A's and an outstanding SAT score."

We spoke for a while until he had to leave.

Marc had come back a couple days ago and was so happy to be back in his second home. School started back up today and I couldn't believe that I began teaching here and moved here just a year ago. At lunch, I received a call from my beloved.

"Hi Marc."

"Hi Bella, how's your day been going?"

"Amazingly. I'm so happy to be back. I've missed my kids and I got new ones today. They're so adorable!"

"I'm glad to hear that."

"How's your day going?"

"Good, good. Kinda bored, but I think that's gonna change."

"Why?"

"I was hoping you'd like to go out to dinner tonight. I know it's late notice, but..."

"But nothing! I'd love to go out to eat!"

"I was hoping you would."

"You never have anything to worry about with me. You should know that."

"I should."

I smiled and we talked for a few minutes before I hung up. I got home to find him sleeping on our bed, so I turned to head to the bathroom, but something caught my eye before I even made it there. There was a post-it on our closet.

Got a surprise for you! Just look inside.

I did as the note said and looked at my side of the closet. My mouth instantly dropped. It was a black dress I had been eyeing at a couple days ago.

"Marc. Andre. Fleury." I whispered.

"Yes?" he said coming up behind me.

"Were you awake?"

"I was just pretending to be asleep."

"Who got this? Maddy?"

"Just like with the blue dress, yes. She bought it."

"I love it. Thank you."

"Tell Maddy thank you, but it's my pleasure. I love you."

"I love you, too."

When we were about to leave, he was certainly eyeing me up.

"You look unbelievably beautiful in that dress."

"Thank you."

We had dinner at one of the most expensive restaurants in all of Pittsburgh, since he insisted. He's such a dork, sometimes; I love it. Come dessert, he was biting his lip and looked anxious.

"Marc, you okay?"

"I'm fine."

"You sure? 'Cause you don't look it."

"I'm sure."

"Ok." I said.

Just a few minutes later as I was looking for something in my purse, I heard someone or something moving. I looked up and saw him down on one knee.

Oh. My. God.

"Bella, you have no idea how much I love you, nor do you have any idea how much I wanna be with you for the rest of our lives. I wasn't expecting to fall in love with you in that short amount of time, but I did and I can't imagine life without you. Bella Annalee Leyton, will you marry me?" he said taking my hand during the last sentence.

It certainly didn't take me all that long to give him an answer.

"Yes! Of course I'll marry you!" I cried as he put the ring on me.

"I love you. I love you so much, Marc-Andre Fleury."

"I love you more than anything." he said pulling me toward him to kiss me.

I couldn't be happier and I couldn't believe what was happening at the same, but I loved it and was ready to make the plans for us to get married as soon as I could. I was ready when I said five months ago that I'd marry him if he asked me and I'm even more ready now. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with the most amazing man to ever exist.
