Somebody to Love

Chapter 7

t was finally Saturday and my brother was coming up to visit with his girlfriend and I couldn't be any more excited. This would make my weekend easier since my boyfriend was in Michigan for a couple days and I could not talk to him much at all during the day which was quite frustrating. Right now, I'm trying to figure out what to wear and luckily I don't have to worry about my eye, which is now hardly noticeable, but who knows, Alex might ask about it. I'm prepared for that, if that happens to be the case. After looking through my clothes twenty times, I found the perfect outfit that will be just right for this kind of visit. Once I finished getting ready, it was ten till noon and Alex would be here any minute. While I waited, I heard my phone vibrate and saw that it was Marc. I smiled and opened it.

Let me know how everything goes. I miss you! :(

I will. :) I miss you too!

After I answered it, I grabbed my purse and put my phone away, while I walked downstairs. Before I knew it, I heard my brother at my door and I ran across the living room to answer it.

"Hi Alex."

"Hi Bella. This is Elina."

He introduced to me the girl standing shyly beside him.

"Hi. Nice to meet you." I said while shaking her hand.

"Hi Bella. Nice to meet you too." she said with an accent.

She smiled and I smiled back, mentally reminding myself to ask her where she was from later.

"You two ready to go?"

"You bet. Where are we going?" Alex asked.

"Wherever you want to."

"Can we go by the school you work at, to start?"

"Of course."

We got into my car and began the drive to the elementary school which was very talkative. I already had a good feeling about Elina although I barely knew her. When we reached the school, I spoke up.

"So, this is the school I work at." I said as I turned around to talk to them once we were parked.

"Awesome! You must love it." Alex said.

"I do. The kids are so enthusiastic."

"How many kids do you teach?" Elina asked.

"Well, I teach 50 kids in each class and I teach six times a day, so 300."

"Do they ever tire you out, sis?"

"Sometimes, but if there is ever a hockey game that night, I'm there."

I had a smirk on my face.

"What's that smirk all about?" he asked.

"Nothing. I don't know what you're talking about." I said with a nervous laugh.

"Bella, seriously. What's up?"

"Um...I have a boyfriend."

"Since when?"

"Since two weeks ago."

"What's his name?"

"Marc."

"Is he cute?" she asked.

"Definitely cute and so is his accent."

I began to blush.

"Does he respect you?" he asked.

"How did you two meet?" she asked.

"Yes and you really want to know?"

"Yes."

"Ok. We met the day after I moved in. He brought me my season tickets that Ally bought for me since I couldn't afford them."

"You're dating Marc-Andre Fleury?!" Alex asked.

"Yes. Do you have a problem with that?"

"No. I'm just surprised that you hadn't told me before."

"Sorry. I've just been so busy."

"With him?"

"That is none of your business."

"Was he there when I called?"

"Yes. He was. Will you let it go?"

"Yes. I'm sorry."

"That is so cool! Where is he anyway?" Elina asked.

"He's in Michigan right now. They have a preseason game up there tomorrow. He would've come if he didn't have that game tomorrow."

"Awesome."

"Yep. You guys ready to eat?"

"Yeah." I heard from the back.

"Where do you guys want to eat?"

"Can we eat at Spaghetti Warehouse?"

"I was hoping you guys wanted to go there. Their food is amazing."

Driving to Spaghetti Warehouse didn't take long since it was in the Strip District. I was a tinsy bit sad since I wanted Marc to be here. I noted that I wanted Marc and I to go on a date here sometime. The place had a somewhat romantic atmosphere and had the best Italian food in Pittsburgh and all of its surrounding neighborhoods. We immediately were seated into a booth once inside. I had a feeling that Alex was going to bring up Marc again after we ordered our food.

"So, Bella." Alex started.

"So, Alex."

"Does Marc treat you right?"

"Of course he does. Why are you asking?"

"I don't want you to get hurt again."

"You don't have to worry about that."

"Yes. I do. You're my sister. I just want the best for you."

"He is the best. I wanted you guys to meet him so bad actually. He asked me to text or call about how today went when the day was done. He truly wanted to be here."

"I believe you. Can you let me know when we can meet him?"

"Definitely. This is so exciting." I giggled.

"You really like him, don't you?" Elina asked.

I nodded.

"Yeah. I've never even had a connection like this before."

"Ok. We totally have to exchange numbers."

"Alright." I said cheerfully.

We typed in each other's phone number and quickly put them away.

"Anyways, enough about me and Marc. How did you two meet?"

Elina spoke up.

"Well, we happened to be in the same English class our first year and I didn't know anyone since I'm from Russia and I had only been in America since I graduated high school back in June. He introduced himself and the rest is history."

"I knew you weren't from America, the minute you spoke. I was wondering where that accent came from. That is so cool. Your English is amazing, by the way."

"Thanks! I studied English all through high school, so I could communicate well with others when I came here for college."

"Oh, you're welcome." I said with a smile.

"I am so glad you two like each other. I was so worried." Alex said in relief.

"You had no reason to worry. I was sure that you found a great girl."

He just smiled and mouthed thanks. I mouthed back you're welcome. The rest of the day went fairly well after we ate lunch. We ended up going through Pittsburgh after we went shopping in the Strip District; although, I think only Elina and I enjoyed that. When we got back to the apartment. I didn't want them to go, but they had to. They had a nearly two hour drive ahead of them and they wanted to get back before it was dark.

"See you later sis. Let me know about the Marc thing." Alex said.

"I will. Call me when you get back to let me know you two got back safe."

"You know you sound like Mom?" he said with a laugh.

"Yes and I'm allowed to. I'm your older sister."

"Ok. I'm fine with that."

We hugged and then I spoke to Elina.

"It was really nice meeting you."

"I could say the same and I'm happy to have another friend."

"I'm happy too. You're my second friend I've made since I've been here."

"Cool. Well, let me know when you can come up."

"Ok. Will do."

"See ya later."

"See ya."

I waved and only seconds later, they were gone. I sighed and slipped my flats off before heading to my bedroom to text Marc. I laid down on my bed and began texting.

Hey.

Ten seconds later...

Hey. How'd it go?

Great. I showed them my school since they wanted to see it first, then we ate at Spaghetti Warehouse. Can I call you? It's easier to actually talk to you instead of texting back and forth.

My phone rang a few seconds later.

"Oh thank goodness. I've been dying to talk to you all day." I said exasperated.

"I could say the same. It's weird being away from you for the first time."

"I'm sure it'll get easier."

"I hope so. This sucks."

"Yeah. It does."

"Well, what else happened today?"

"I want to tell you this first. You came up in conversation."

"Really? How?"

"When we were at my school, Alex and Elina began asking me about school. Then, Alex asked if my students tired me out after I told them how many students I teach a day. I said yeah, but if there is ever a hockey game that it doesn't stop me and of course I had a smirk on my face that my brother just had to ask me about."

"That's it?"

"No. See, this is partly the reason why I wanted to actually talk to you."

He laughed.

"I wouldn't say anything about the smirk at first, but I eventually did. I told him I had a boyfriend, his first name, how cute he was and how cute his accent was. Suddenly, his girlfriend asked me how we met and once I said how..."

"Yeah..."

"He shouted, 'You're dating Marc-Andre Fleury?!'"

I heavily sighed.

"Is something wrong?"

"He kept interrogating me about you since my last relationship didn't turn out well."

"He just cares about you. You are his sister after all."

"Yeah. I know. We eventually set things straight and I finally learned about how he and his girlfriend met." I sounded cheerfully at the end.

"How'd they meet?"

"Well, Elina said they met in their English class their freshman year since she didn't know anyone else because she only moved here from Russia that June. Her English is great, actually."

"That is so awesome. I'm assuming you two are great friends already."

"Yep. We exchanged numbers when we ate the Spaghetti Warehouse for lunch, which reminds me. Can we eat there sometime?"

"Of course. We'll eat there when I get back."

"Sweet! Their food is amazing!" I said in delight.

He laughed again. We spoke for only a few more minutes until Marc had to go. Once we hung up, I sighed and smiled, thinking about this wonderful day and how I couldn't wait for my boyfriend to come home.
