A Second Chance at Love

I couldn't even tell you how long we sat in the same position. I cried my heart out and he apologized over and over. I finally looked up at him. I had no idea what to even say to him. I paused for a minute just staring at him. "Danny you have to go. I don't even know what to say to you. I need time to think. I will pick up Ry later." He got up and left looking solemn. I pulled the covers up over me and cried to the point where I had no more tears left, just sobs escaping from my hoarse throat.

Richie had come in by this point and sat with his arms around me holding me tight. He must have said "everything will get better" about three hundred times.

I finally stopped sobbing and he looked at me seriously. "Let's go. Into the shower now. We are going out to get something to eat at least. Being this upset isn't healthy Rainy." He pulled me up the steps and pushed me towards the bathroom.

By the time I got out of the shower, he had picked out clothes for me to wear. "You got some pretty sexy lingerie hot mama." he teased, holding up a tiny corset and matching thong.

I just laughed at him, "Umm yea, none of it fits now." I said as I lifted up my shirt and exposed my tummy to him.

His eyes got real wide. "Umm, don't take this as perverted, can I feel it?" I let him rub my tummy. He backed away smiling. "That is so freaking cool."

We ended up going to a Japanese restaurant. We kept the conversation light, laughing at various stories he told me of his teammates antics. I was happy he took me out, it was nice to focus on something else for a while.

We walked around on the waterfront after eating. "Rainy you are a strong woman. You will get through this. He feels awful. He actually cried with me and Jeff. He knows he fucked up."

I just looked at Mike sadly. "I don' t know if I can get passed this Mike." I said tearing up.

"Come on, let's get you home." he said, grabbing my hand.

"Do you want me to say with you tonight? I just gotta stop by my place and get some clothes?" he asked. I agreed and we got into the car.

Once we got back to my house I let him search for a movie and I walked across the street. I walked into the living room and saw Caelan. "Hey where is your Dad?" I asked him.

He pointed towards the den. I walked in and Danny was laying across the sofa. He looked terrible. He told me Ryan had fell asleep. "Listen Raina, I am so sorry. Words can't even let you know how I feel about you. " I cut him off.

"Honestly, I'm not ready to discuss this with you. I'm staying at my house tonight. I will be over tomorrow morning. Gotta keep some normalcy for the boys right now. " I played with the engagement ring on my finger. I slid it off. "Here, give this to me when you are ready to be married and settle down." He looked shocked. I turned around and left.

Once back across the street, Mike and I cuddled up and watch the Hangover. He promised me things would get better. I hoped he was right. He warned me that if I was willing to give Danny another chance that I needed to get passed this and forget about it. I wasn't so sure that was possible. We fell asleep on the couch together, his hand protectively on my tummy.
