The best part about being a hockey wife is being reunited with your husband. Jamie will usually come in around 2 and climb into bed and wrap his arms around me and we would sleep like that. Jamie is my everything and having him be away so much nights when he gets home are the greatest. Jamie and I have such stressful jobs that when we are together, we are home. Jamie is my safe place.

Around 3 o'clock Jamie comes home and I feel the bed dip. I roll over and smile at Jamie.

"What are you doing up?" He asks while running a hand through my hair.

"I couldn't sleep, I missed my pillow too much." I pull his head to mine and kiss him lightly.

"Well here." He shoves the pillow into my face laughing.

"Ass." I chuckle. Jamie climbs into bed and wraps his arms around my waist.

"You know if we got a dog, you wouldn't be as lonely."

"Its just so hard with-"

Jamie cuts me off by groaning. "Mads c'mom, lets start a family. Have you ever imagined having mini versions of us running around the house playing with our dog? I'm so excited for that. I get to come home to my beautiful wife, happy children, and smelly but great dog." I know Jamie is smiling in the darkness and my heart melts.

"We promised we would wait on the children part okay."

"But lets get a dog." Jamie interrupts.

"I get to pick the breed."

"Ugh fine. But if you pick a rat puppy the boys will chirp me so hard."

"I like german shepherds or labs."

"We can look into it. Does that sound good?" Jamie asks.

"Would you want a boy or a girl?"

"Whatever you want princess."

"Jame, be serious."

"I am, if you are happy and not as lonely while I'm away thats what makes me happy."

"I love you Jame."

"Love you Mads, but for the record I like boy dogs."

"What about names?" I ask.

"Can we talk about this tomorrow babe? Its really late."

"Thank goodness its Sunday tomorrow."

"Sunday fun day." Jamie says before he falls asleep.

The next morning after sleeping in Jamie and I are looking around for german shepherds in the area. Jamie and I agreed on that breed because we both have been in love with them forever. We might have to wait awhile to see when the puppies will be born or if they already have been and the amount of weeks they stay with their mother before we can take it home for ourselves. Right now I'm not sold on the dog idea so we are just looking. Jamie is really excited because Ty has two dogs and they can have play dates all the time.

Jamie and I like to spend our Sundays that Jamie are off cuddling in our bed. We watch a lot of Netflix and tv. Our favourite shows are Suits, The Amazing Race, and Draft Year which is a hockey show about this years potential NHL draft picks playing in the NHL. Jamie can watch the new talent and keep a tabs on his beloved Kelowna Rockets. Today we are watching Suits, I like it because I am a so called "Suit" for being a lawyer and I force Jamie to watch it with me but he has grown to like it.

Its so nice to have Jamie back at home. Today is a rare day off and usually on his days off he still goes into the Arena but after a long road trip I get him all to myself today. Once you get over your boyfriend or husband being gone quite a lot, you cherish days when you get to spend it together and it becomes special.

"Babe?" Jamie asks.

"Yeah?"

"I really missed you." He buries his head in my neck.

"I missed you too Jame."

"Did you miss my peewee too?" Jamie asks and starts to laugh.

"We are never speaking of that conversation ever again Jamie Benn."

Jamie busts out laughing. "I mean I am irresistible."

"I could kill you right now."

Jamie nips at my neck lightly. "But I love you Mads."

"Do you know how many times you have drunk called me and I have never brought up a conversation ever. 2 can play at this game, captain."

"You wouldn't."

"Oh yeah? Try me." I smirk.

"Nothing is as bad as you saying peewee okay."

"Oh really? Like the time where you drunk called me while on a road trip and said, I'm just imagining you in your bathing suit and I get you all to myself. Your boobs look so good in this one suit, I think its the Victoria's Secret-" Jamie cuts me off by covering my face.

"Stop Mads."

"Karma is a bitch eh?"

"You're so Canadian eh." He mocks me.

"Loud and Proud Benn."

Jamie and I like to be goofs and like to have fun together. Jamie is really the boy version of me and I think that we are a good match. Jamie and I could take on the world together and I wouldn't have it either way. Dating a professional athlete can be very hard, but its always the good things that make the bad things disappear. Being with my husband is so much better than being without. I love him beyond words and he makes me the happiest person. In a lot of ways, our relationship could have the potential to be rocky but its nothing we can't fix. Jamie has two teams in his life; the Dallas Star and me, the wife. But he is captain for one, and I am captain for the other. Its very fitting that way.
