You Make Me Want To

05: Get Me Some Of That

Addie took a deep breath. She knocked on Jamie's door. She heard him holler that he'd be there in a second. She felt her stomach drop. She could run right now. Her apartment was only next door. She turned towards it and saw Paisley watching from her doorway. Paisley started mouthing threats to her and gesturing across her throat with a single finger. Addie frowned. Paisley was an asshole.

Jamie's door opened. Paisley jumped into her apartment and shut the door. Addie spun around to face him. He was smiling down at her. His dimples were the first thing she noticed, then his perfect teeth. They couldn't be real. Her eyes met his. His soft, brown, puppy dog eyes. She smiled at him. His eyes dropped her gaze as he looked her over. He took a deep breath.

"You look really amazing." He broke the silence.

She rolled her eyes, looking down. That's when she saw what was on him. He had an apron on. It was a Dallas apron. He had the matching gloves on his hands, along with the potholder in the pocket of his apron. Addie looked him over before she burst into laughter. He sighed, smiling a bit. She covered her mouth to hide her laughing. He crossed his arms, waiting for her fit to stop. She took a deep breath.

"You look great too." She teased.

He rolled his eyes. "Okay, wise ass. Are you planning on coming in or just standing in the doorway all night?" He asked, walking into the kitchen of his apartment.

Addie stepped inside. She closed the door behind her, taking her shoes off at the door. She looked around for somewhere to put them. No shoe rack. Such a typical guy. She tucked them next to the door. She looked around his apartment. The layout was identical to hers. His was just a lot more bare. He had a couch, two giant Lazy Boys, two side tables, a coffee table, and a giant entertainment system. She shook her head. He had no pictures or anything.

"Your apartment is kind of depressing." She smirked, walking into the kitchen.

"Tell me about it." He laughed as he stirred something in a pot. "I'm barely here so I haven't had time to make it my own."

Addie nodded, looking around his kitchen. It was open concept so his table was right next to it. He had set it so nicely. There was only two placements and they were across from each other. But he has candles, and roses resting on his table. Her eyes wandered around the room. Bare walls. Her eyes reached his fridge. There were pictures on it and magnets. So he wasn't a robot! She looked them over.

"You're pretty nosy." He smiled at her.

She shrugged. "I try to figure people out by their homes, but if I wasn't standing here with you, I'd assume you were dead."

He let out a laugh. "I'm very much alive and I'm the one cooking, so watch what you're saying." He warned.

She smiled, hopping into the counter beside him. "What are we having?" She leaned over a bit to look into the pot.

He put the lid down. "My mom's homemade ravioli." He chimed.

"How do you make homemade ravioli?" She furrowed her brows.

"Stuff some pasta." He explained.

"So she just like makes it and then sends it to you?" She questioned.

Jamie nodded. "I'm a mama's boy."

I'm not really close with my parents." She frowned. "They're both such snobs and always trying to set me up with rich guys that are the furthest thing from interested in me."

"Why do you say that?" He cocked a brow.

"They're one hundred percent gay." She giggled. "Which is cool, love is love, but they aren't interested in what I've got going on."

"Makes sense." He nodded. "So do you not like rich guys?"

She made a face. "Not the ones that have done nothing to get their money. Like, yeah, I was born into it, but I work still and I'm going to university, not just living off my parents' cash."

"I respect that." He told her.

Jamie finished cooking the ravioli. He made Addie sit down while he served her. She glared at him the entire time. He brought out a salad her made for them to eat first. They talked while eating it. Addie loved salad. She had to keep in the moans she wanted to let out. She wasn't good at eating in public or in front of people. She knew Jamie was watching her during most of her eating. He just stared. It both flattered and flushed her.

"Did you make this?" She asked as she swallowed the last bite of her salad.

"Well, yeah. It's not hard to toss some shit in a bowl, Addison." He joked. "But I didn't like harvest everything myself."

She rolled her eyes. "I was gonna say it was good but you can go fuck yourself." She spat with a smirk on her face.

"Maybe after we finish eating." He winked, taking their plates over to the sink.

The ravioli was amazing. Addie couldn't get a word out. She was stuffing her face. But she wasn't worried because Jamie was too. They were both eating like animals. Neither seemed to mind. When they first sat, Jamie offered wine, beer, or some bullshit non-alcoholic beverages. Now on her third beer, she knew she made a good choice. Jamie was on his third as well. She helped him clear the table.

"So what now?" She leaned beside him on the counter.

"Well, it's not even nine yet. We could watch a movie or something. Unless you wanna leave." He suggested.

She nodded. "Sounds good. I'm gonna go attempt to figure out your system." She told him as she walked into the living room.

She figured it out. Jamie finished loading the dishwasher and walked over. He sat right next to her. She felt kind of nervous. She didn't remember the last time she was over at a guy's house. A really cute, sweet, funny guy's house. She let out a quiet breath. Jamie draped his arm on the back of the couch. Was he trying to make a move? Addie felt tense. He reached over her and grabbed the remote.

"What do you wanna watch?" He said, chewing on his bottom lip. "Like, action, comedy, horror, romance,"

"Wanna just talk?" She offered. He shrugged with a nod. He shut off the TV while Addie turned to be further from him while facing him. "Tell me about the west coast, best coast."

He smiled a bit. "Victoria was nice. Loved growing up there with Jordie and my sister Jen." He began.

"Jen Benn." Addie snorted.

"Was that a snort?" Jamie's face lit up.

"Oh my god." She froze. "I have to leave now." She rose to her feet.

He clicked his tongue, grabbing her waist and putting her back on the couch. "You're fine. It was cute."

"That is so embarrassing." She whined, hiding her face.

"It's okay." He squeezed her knee. "Wanna hear more about Victoria?"

She nodded, her face flushed. "Do you know who Tyson Barrie is?"

"Colorado, right?" She thought.

"Yeah, you got it." He smiled. "He was like my best bud back there. We used to do some crazy shit."

"Like what?" She challenged.

"Not appropriate to talk about on the first date." He pursed his lips.

"Oh, so this is a date, huh?" She rose her eyebrows.

"Yeah. I'm impressed you asked me out first." He continued.

"I'm not a pussy." She scoffed.

"Tyler told me you were." He blurted.

"Tyler's the pussy." She spat.

"What was he like when you were younger?" He leaned forward.

"Like Boston but ten times worse." She shook her head.

"That's hard to believe." Jamie argued.

"Believe it. When he was billeting in Michigan, he threw their dog down a flight of stairs." She whispered.

"And people let him own two dogs?" He shook his head.

"He's a different person now." She laughed. "He's really grown up."

Jamie nodded his head. He chewed the inside of his lip while he looked around. Addie watched him. It was her turn to stare. His eyes went to the TV, then drifted to the remotes on the coffee table, then back to her. She tilted her head at him. He copied her. He smiled a bit.

"This might be too straightforward, but what do you say to watching some comedy and cuddling up to me?" He tapped his fingers on the back of the couch.

She made a face of disgust. "I guess." She sighed, smirking.

Jamie rolled his eyes at her. He stood and sat against the arm of the couch. He looked over at her with raised eyebrows. She sighed, standing up. She adjusted her clothing before she sat right beside him. He watched as she leaned into his side. His arm came around her waist while she rested her head on him. She was half laying down, half sitting up. Her arms were wrapped around Jamie's waist.

Her shirt was lifted. His hand resting on her bare stomach. He ran his fingers over the bare skin. She kept her breathing even. She wasn't as nervous as she thought she would be. She hadn't had a guy touch her in too long. She figured she'd puke at the slightest touch, but she was fine. Until she felt herself getting cold. Jamie's house was ridiculous cold. She didn't understand. She cuddled further into his side.

"Are you cold?" He leaned forward to see her face.

She nodded. He gently sat her up and walked off. She just sat there waiting. He came back out with a sweater. It was huge, but Jamie was huge. Not like fat huge, just a well built guy. She threw it over her head and pushed her arms through the sleeves. They bunched at the elbows from how big they were on her. She looked down at it. 'Rockets Hockey' across the chest. She furrowed her brows before looking to Jamie.

"What's 'Rockets' hockey?" She asked.

"Kelowna." He explained as he sat back in his spot. His arm waited on the back of the couch for her to rest against him again. "It's from when I played Juniors.

"Oh, right. Kelowna's in the WHL or whatever." She said as she got back in the position she was in.

He nodded as his hand went back to her waist. "How did you know that?" He chuckled.

"Well, you're from the west coast so I just figured." She stated. "And I remember some teams from back when Tyler played for Plymouth. He would always get me looking things up in case they made it to the Mem cup."

"You and Tyler were still close then?" He questioned.

She looked up at him. "Yeah, Tyler and I were close until he was drafted." She bit her lip. "Is he still wild?"

Jamie laughed. "He can be. But he knows when and where." He clarified.

She nodded. "I'm glad he has a friend like you out here. He was so sad when he got traded." She frowned.

"He's a great guy. He didn't deserve to be treated the way Boston treated him." He shrugged.

"Do you agree that they gave up on him way too easily and expect way too much considering he was a kid?" She cocked a brow.

"Yeah, definitely. But I'm not exactly upset that it happened." He confessed.

"Me neither. He's better appreciated here and he has someone to keep him out of trouble." She smiled, patting Jamie's stomach.

They went back to watching what was on the TV. Addie wasn't really watching, she was thinking. There had to be some catch with Jamie. He was too good to be true. As another hour passed, Addie felt Jamie's arm around her growing limp. She looked up and saw he had fallen asleep. His mouth was slightly open and there was a light snore coming from him. He looked cute. She smiled and sat up. His eyes fluttered open.

"Did I fall asleep?" He said, confusion taking over him. She nodded with a smile. "Shit, I'm sorry."

She shook her head. "It's fine. You get some sleep." She stood up and started to pull off the sweater.

"Hang onto it. You might get cold walking home." He smirked as he rose from his seat.

"Yeah, it's a long walk home from here." She joked along.

They walked towards Jamie's front door. "Guess I should walk you home then." He sighed.

"That'd be pretty nice." She reached for the door handle.

Jamie held the door for her as she walked out. He left his front door open as he walked over to Addie's with her. She turned to face him, her back against her door. He placed his hand on the doorframe, leaning into her. It was so cliche. Addie loved it. She smiled up at him. He was grinning down at her.

"I had a really good time." Jamie broke the silence.

"Me too. I was expecting myself to be really awkward and weird but I felt good around you." She admitted. "Well, I hope I wasn't awkward and weird."

"No, you were fun. I liked spending time with you." He said sincerely.

"This would be the point where you ask me on a second date." She grinned.

"I would love to hang out with you again, but I have to check our schedule before I make any commitment." He frowned as he told her. "Not like commitment to you. I just can't set a date."

She nodded. "I get it." She gave him a grin. "Just let me know."

She turned her back to him. She opened her door. She turned back around to face him. He was staring down at her, standing the exact same way as before. She grabbed his face, pressing her lips to the corner of his mouth. He closed his eyes, smiling a bit. He opened his eyes, looking at her. She gave him a grin.

"Thanks for a really amazing night." She hummed.

"No, thank you." He stood up straight. "I'll see you tomorrow. Stay close to me when we're out." He winked, walking to his room.

They both walked into the apartments. Addie closed her door. She dropped onto her couch. She rubbed her face and smiled. She had a really good night. She only had a minute of time to herself before her phone began to ring. She knew Paisley had watched them the entire time.
