I Love You
I figured it was finally time to come clean to Tessa. My feelings were getting harder and harder to control. Oh hey, Tessa. How are you? I'm good, you know. I'm just in love you but you're having my best friend's baby. No big deal. So how is the baby anyways? There was no easy way to say it and I had no idea how she will react.
I took a deep breath and knocked on her door. Oh, shit. I'm not ready to do this! Why did I just knock? Before I could run away, the door opened and Tessa's head popped out.
"Oh, hey Pat. Did you need something?" She asked while inviting me in.
"Um actually, I just needed to talk to you." She motioned me to take a seat. "Well you see, this may come as a shock to you but I still love you and I just thought you should know." I looked down not wanting to meet her eyes.
"Oh Pat. Thanks for telling me but you know I love Jon and I'm pregnant, right?"
"I understand. I love you, Tess. I always have and I always will even if you don't love me back."
"I love you too Pat. Just not the same way you love me. I'm sorry you have to go through this but Jon is really amazing. If you're a true friend, you'd want me to be happy right?" I nodded slightly. "We could put that aside and go back to being best friends. Is that ok?" Again, I nodded. We hugged for a good few minutes before I got up to leave.
"I'm glad we had this talk. Thank you Tess. I don't deserve a great best friend like you." I said.
"Don't say that. I don't deserve a friend like you. You're understanding, you're too sweet, and you have a good heart." She said, while tears poured out of both of us.
"You always know what to say. Well I have to head out." We hugged one last time before I left. For the first time in a long time, my feelings for Tessa were starting to fade. She is happy now and that's all that matters. I love you Tessa.
Tessa's POV
"Why are you so smiley?" Jon asked while we were making dinner.
"Pat and I had a good talk today." I smiled again at him.
"Really? What about?"
"Not much really. But it felt good to talk to him."
"That's good." We fell into a comfortable silence as we ate our dinner.
"You know I love you right?" Jon whispered to me as we were watching a movie. "And our soon to be baby." He said while rubbing my belly.
"I have heard a lot of 'I love you's' lately. I smirked to myself.
