Nightmares
"Mom, dad, I'm going to get some fresh air."
"Ok, honey, but come right back in."
It was chilly for a July night. It was nice though, like one of those in movies. If only I had someone to take a walk with...Someone grabbed my arm, pulled me into an alley, and I was knocked unconscious.
I awoke abruptly. 7 years and still the same nightmare from that one July night when I was raped. I shivered. It was my 15th birthday dinner with my family, mom, dad, and my sister, Charlotte. I still only remember parts of that night but I do remember waking up in a hospital, sore all over. I shook the thoughts from my head. I lie back on my pillow and close my eyes until my alarm sounds. Godammit. I roll out of bed and get dressed.
"Knock, knock, sleepy head! Time to go to the Big Apple!" I could hear the enthusiasm in Soph's voice.
Leaving my room, I look over to see Jonathan in his boxers talking to Kaner. I blush slightly.
"Hey, Tessa! Heading off to New York?" Jonathan says.
"Yup. When are you guys leaving?"
"In about an hour. Hope to see you there! Text me when you can."
"Will do, bye!"
-Patrick's POV-
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Tessa. Tessa. I missed her so much. Just her name makes me giddy. She looks beautiful with a messy bun and comfy clothes.
"Hey, Tessa! Heading off to New York?" Tazer says beside me.
"Yup. When are you guys leaving?"
"In about an hour. Hope to see you there! Text me when you can."
Whoa, wait, what? Tazer has Tessie's number? And I didn't. Well unless it's the same number from 7 years ago then yes, I did have her number. It wasn't my fault I didn't call her, she was beautiful, nice, AND funny. But when I took her virginity when I got her drunk while we were dating, I just couldn't believe myself. I was supposed to be her best friend and I took it though she still forgave me. After I arrived in Chicago, I slept with every girl in sight, blaming myself for what I had done and now she hates me but truthfully speaking, I loved her. From the moment I saw her at the subway station and I still think about her now. If only she knew...
-Tessa's POV-
I closed my eyes for takeoff, my least favourite part of the plane ride. Squeezing my arm rests for a good 20 minutes until I finally let go. After getting comfortable, I decided to text Jonathan.
^hey, r u guys on the plane yet?
^just boarding, whats it like in the air?
^great! clear skies. :)
^what hotel are you staying at?
^The Chatwal Hotel wbu?
^same! how about I take you our for dinner tonite? ;)
^sounds great. be at my room 409 at 7 :)
^will do! see ya
I giggled to myself. Would this count as a date? A friendly dinner? Either way, I was having dinner with Jonathan Toews. Then all of a sudden thoughts of my mother rushed through me. This happens every time I'm on a plane. Adele Schultz. She was the kind of mother you would see on TV; kind, caring, and proud to be a woman. It's really true the saying, Good things don't always happen to good people. My mother died 3 months after my rape incident in an airplane crash while traveling on one of her business trips which lead me into depression and the suicide attempt which failed. Tears rolled down my face, thinking of her face. I closed my eyes and drifted to sleep.
"Tess, it's time to get up, we're landing soon."
I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. We're in New York already? That was quick. I got up out of my seat after landing and see that I got a text.
^hey tes, how's it been? i miss you sooo much. when will you be back?
I smiled to myself. My best friend Riley always worried about everything and to be honest, I was ready to go home after a long week of traveling.
^hey ri, i miss you too! i cant wait to be back. just 2 more days!
Only 2 more days Tessa. Last competition is today. Might as well finish the season with a gold!
