Mixed Feelings
"Look Pat, I just want an explanation. Then we can just get on with our lives." I finally managed to say after a good few minutes after Jon had left.
“I just couldn’t live with myself!” He shouted, breaking down moments after. “I can’t believe I even did that. I mean, you were my best friend and I just shut you out of my life.”
“But why did you have to? Was it something I did?”
“No. It was me. I-I took your virginity and I just thought I was such a bad friend…” He sighed, still half sobbing.
“I told you hundreds of times, I am absolutely fine with that! You must have apologized a million times already!”
“Yeah, I know but still. It’s hard to think that I took the virginity of the girl I love and I know she won’t love me back.” He blushed slightly.
I was stunned. Did I hear correctly? He loved me? “Pat, you don’t know that. I’ve had a crush on you ever since my first day at school when you offered to give me a tour but now, I don’t know. We used to talk about everything and it’s been 7 years. You might as well be a stranger.”
"I know, can we just start over and go back to being friends?" He asked, shyly.
"I'd like that." I replied. We hugged giving me a good nose full of his smell. Hm it was the same smell he had since he was younger. I'm still confused though, he loved me? He let go of me but right after, he kissed me. It was like 9th grade all over again. It took a lot for me to pull away but I did even though I wanted the kiss to go on. But what about Jon? As if on cue, the door opened and Jon walked in with a big brown paper bag which I assumed was dinner.
"So did you two talk it out?" He asked, with his Captain Serious face on.
"Yeup. We're friends again. Maybe even more." I heard from beside me. More than friends?
"Good so you're best friends now? I'm so relieved. I thought you guys wouldn't talk to each other at all and this was just a waste of my time." I giggled to myself. He took the more than friends a different way than I think Pat took it. He was so cute.
"Yeah, I'm glad, too. So what's for dinner?" Kaner asked, changing the subject.
"Thai, Tessa's favourite."
Over dinner, we watched a movie together, and it was better than I expected it to be. Time flew and it was already dark outside.
"I better get going. It's already late." I said, gathering my things.
"Yeah, me too." Pat agreed.
We both said goodbye to Tazer and walked towards our cars. Pat slowly crept closer and closer to me and pinned me against the wall and kissed me. I cut him off.
"Look. I'm glad that we're friends again, I really am but I don't feel that way about you and Jon and I are together now. So can we be just friends?" I blurted out.
"Of course. Anything for you." He replied, looking hurt.
-Patrick's POV-
Kissing Tessa was a mistake. I just came naturally after we hugged. Again, I kissed her while leaving Tazer's place. Her words hurt more than I would admit. I mean, of course, I am ecstatic that Tessie and I are friends again but I thought that we could pick up from where we left off. She said that she and Tazer were together now. What did that mean? Did she actually like him? Don't get me wrong, Tazer's a great guy but I just don't see them together. I will just have to show her that I am better than him.
-Tessa's POV-
When I returned home, I found Riley sitting on the couch watching TV, waiting for me to return.
"Hey! Tell me how your date went!" She said, excited to hear the details.
"Nothing happened. Except for the fact that, Pat was there, we made up, and we kissed."
"Wait, what? Rewind. Did you say he kissed you? Whoa. So....do you like him?"
"Really, Ri, I have absolutely no idea. I told him that I just wanted to be friends and oh my god I just friendzoned him."
Riley burst into laughter and after that, we stopped talking about Patrick and started talking about random things until we both fell asleep on the couch.
