The Gentle Giant

Homecoming

After ten long demanding, emotionally draining weeks, our daughter was finally coming home. I was super excited. The doctors timed it perfectly. I had today and tomorrow off to spend with my beautiful family. I couldn’t have asked for better off-days. We shopped yesterday for gifts for the nurses and Dr. Avery who had taken care of her the entire time.

She had grown to four and a half pounds. She was still so tiny, we had to pick up a ton of preemie clothes. She was still on the apnea monitor but the doctor anticipated removing that in a week or two. Danny had went to the airport to pick up my parents and my brother Michal. They hadn’t seen her since she was a week old. We weren’t allowed to have too much company at first. We were keeping it to our immediate families and just adults. She was too susceptible to germs still and any small infection could really hurt her.

I wrapped Dani up in a hug. She was pacing the living room while I was getting dressed. She couldn’t contain her excitement. “You ready baby?” I asked. She practically flew out the door and down the street to the parking garage.

The room was filled with excitement as we signed the paperwork. It was definitely like a family there. We took a million pictures and talked for an hour before leaving with her. I may have drove ten miles per hour back to our apartment with her, Dani urging me that it was ok if I went the speed limit. After all, she was sitting right next to her.

The doorman at our building congratulated us. He seen the condition we were in for the last two and a half months and every day offered prayers and kind words. We entered the apartment and I had to smile. It really looked like a family was living here. All of her stuff was set up finally, the house actually even smelled so fresh, just like a baby.

We got her out of the carrier and sat on the couch together just staring at her. She was sound asleep, as peaceful as ever. I got up and put her in her pack n play and dragged Dani to the bedroom. Danny wasn’t due back for an hour and I planned on showing her how thankful I was for our daughter.

I had just finished undressing her and was currently working my way down her waist with kisses when I heard the phone. I ran for it and it was Danny letting me know he was about a half hour away. I looked over at Andreja and she was still sound asleep. I went back to Dani and finished what I started, leaving her shivering on the bed.

“We so need to get away one night in a few weeks. I have so much planned for you.” I said to her as she kissed me . Soon after, I was deep inside of her. I had just finished when the doorbell rang. She jumped up and dressed quickly.

“Sorry, we feel asleep” I could hear her say as she opened the door. My family wrapped her in hugs. They absolutely adored her. She had given them a grandchild, their first and to them there was no greater gift in this world.

Danny walked into the bedroom as I was getting changed. “Bro tell her to take a shower, she reeks of sex.” I just laughed. I dressed quickly and went out, my family greeting me lovingly.

My mom hugged me tight. "She is beautiful son. A true miracle. We are blessed." I sent Dani off to get a shower and ordered food from a local restaurant. We were celebrating tonight. My baby was finally home.

It was after ten o'clock by the time my family left for the hotel. Dani was on the couch feeding Andreja and I was laying next to her admiring the view. A guy can't deny that breastfeeding might just be the most beautiful thing in the world. She finally got her burped and settled into her bassinet. We went into the bedroom, just enjoying the quiet state the house was in. She gave me a long kiss. "I love you Andrej. I wouldn't change my life for anything in this world." We fell asleep quickly, exhausted from the emotional day.

@MITCHEAE

Yeah, I was six weeks early, my little sister was born at 25 weeks. She did amazing and doesn't have any issues. Such a miracle. So, I am currently writing two stories.... My Lupul one and a Drew Doughty one on mibba. Instead of just giving you a small side part I'd loved to do one with you as a main character. Who is your fav player? What is your ideal of a good place to go out on a date?

Really good :) a bit of a sad chapter but it was beautifully written. Lots of premmies end up thriving later in life. My brother who is 3 years older than me and I were both 2 months early. He had asthma until his sophomore year in high school and is deadly allergic to peanuts but besides that he was perfectly healthy. Became a marine straight out of high school, messed up his back badly though some years later. I have a bit more issues but most of that didn't start till 4th grade or so but otherwise after the first several months and finding out medications I had reactions to when I was very little I was fine

Great job really cute :) Love that he sent her food and flowers. Oh and if you need to know anything about me just ask.

@Flyers_girl
Gotta give me a name and a little about your personality...
