It's a Girl's Game

Chapter 20

“Lets go boys!” Jamie yelled. The penguins were currently in the 3rd period of a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
“You are aware that we are up by 4 right?” Sid asked her.
“I learned a long time ago that no lead is safe,” she said jumping up.
The penguins ended up winning 5-3 and Jamie was pretty happy. Jamie knew her dad was here to see her embarrass the big shot hockey players and the fact she was able to scrap up 2 goals made her that much more happy.
“I know that we won, but you seem way happier than anyone here,” Downie said as he unlaced his skates.
“I get to see my dad for the first time since I came her,” Jamie smiled.
“That’s cool, I guess,” he said.
“My dad and I are really close.”
“Later losers,” Jamie yelled as she headed towards the door after her interviews.
“Later loser,” someone yelled, most likely Downie.
She was walking towards the front of CONSOL where she told her dad to meet her when she felt someone grab her arm. Right away she knew it was Olli because A) she knew what his footsteps sounded like and B) no one was stupid enough to grab her like that.
“You know Maatta, you are so lucky I grew up with you. Other wise you would be laying on the ground hurting right now,” Jamie said not turning around.
“Where are you off so early, you’re always one of the last people to leave?” he questioned.
“Other times I don’t have someone to meet,” she said slipping out of his grip.
“Who are you meeting?” Olli asked.
“None of your business, Maatta and if you don’t stop interrogating me soon you will be in a lot more pain,” she threatened.
“OK, OK, I’ll leave you alone,” Olli surrendered, “But who are you meeting?”
“Maatta!”
“Ok, I’ll leave you alone,” Olli, said turning to leave.
“About time,” Jamie muttered and headed to meet her dad.
“Jamie,” Jamie’s dad, Erik Jokinen, said as soon as he saw his daughter.
“Hi daddy,” Jamie mumbled into her dad’s shoulder.
“You did great baby girl,” Erik said as they headed out towards Jamie’s car.
“Thanks papa,” Jamie said climbing into her car.
“Where are we going?”
“It’s a restaurant that Olli took me too awhile ago, they have really good Polish food,” Jamie said knowing her dad’s side of the family is from Poland.
“It’s probably is good but I doubt it is as good as your grandmothers.”
“Nothing is better then Nana’s cooking.”
She felt her phone vibrate in her pocket, but ignored it thinking it was probably just Olli trying to figure out where she was. It was a good 20 minutes before they were able to get to the restaurant Jamie wanted to her dad to.
“Jamie, you weren't kidding, this food is very good,” Erik said.
“It’s no Nana’s but it is pretty good, and I swear if these people don’t stop texting I’m going to kill one of them,” Jamie said causing her dad to laugh.
“Maybe you should tell them you are busy,” her dad suggested.
“Yeah, probably, it most likely won’t help,” Jamie, mumbled taking out her phone.
She saw a text from Downie asking is she wanted to get some food with him and a couple of the guys. She also saw one from Sid telling her there was get together at CONSOL at 6 tonight. She then told the guys she was busy right now but she should be able to get to the event in time.
“Everything Ok?” her dad asked.
“Yeah, its just there is this get together that I didn’t know about and I guess I have to go,” Jamie explained, anything but happy. She was closest to her dad since he actually let her play hockey and didn’t call it a sport for cavemen.
“That’s fine sweetie, I’m staying here for another 2 days,” Erik said.
“Really? I didn’t know that,” Jamie said getting excited.
“Yup, now where do you want to go?” her dad asked since they were in the process of leaving the restaurant.
“I don’t care anywhere is fine,” she said just as she felt a snowball, more like an ice ball hit her in the back, “Ahh! Who threw that!”
“What never felt snow before Jokinen?” Beau Bennett asked coming up with Robert Bortuzzo.
“What don’t you people understand about I’m busy leave me alone!” Jamie yelled.
“You don’t look busy,” Bortz said.
“It’s cute how oblivious you two are buy,” Jamie said taking her dad’s hand and walking the opposite way.
Jamie and her dad walked a little more then decided to call it a night. To be completely honest, this was one of the best days she had since coming to North America.
